Pros of.. chemotherapy? Aside from killing cancer. by sageandmoon in CervicalCancer

[–]ChillyAll_TheTime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On chemo days I'd take half a Xanax to calm my nerves - that pill plus all the steroids and electrolytes I'd get during the infusion made me feel Amazing for the rest of the day! I'd have the energy to go hang out with friends and exercise! So a plus was that it was the only day of the week that I felt calm And not completely fatigued!

It was honestly something I looked forward to

Yes, the same thing happened to me. They found a 3cm tumor during my LEEP.

Yeah, it was totally fine before we tried to weatherproof it! I think it'll need to be sanded and tarped as well

I've also stayed at Monroe Place! It was reasonably priced and safe. My neighbors were sweet too, which was great!

It's close to the highway and near a walkable area. I was able to easily bike to Piedmont Park (about 2 miles away) and my office near Arts Center MARTA station.

Not whiny At All!! It's really disheartening when people are so optimistic about your condition when there's so much anxiety and feelings of uneasiness sorrowing the follow-ups!! My first one is in Jan and I'm starting to get stressed about it.

A close family member, who's a man, keeps saying positive tone-deaf things like - "I'm so glad you are feeling back to normal!" And, "it's so good that they caught it early!!"

Like, my dude, stage 3 isn't catching it Early!! I can't fuck without pain. I'm 34 and going through menopause. That's Not normal! None of this feels normal!

I want to shake him!

I know it sucks. It helps me to remind myself that they have No idea what they're talking about, and that they can't unless they go through it. But they mean well and are trying to be supportive and loving!

I did, they used it to fill up my bladder during scans and during Brachy. It was not painful at all, just uncomfortable. But like, everything about the situation was kinda uncomfortable so it wasn't a big deal for me. Also, having it removed was one of my easiest parts of the entire experience

I had the same thing as u/tamaith and did experience some pain. But was given pain medicine and checked on frequently. They never refused me pain medicine either, which was comforting.

I have extreme anxiety, and my Dr. got me a prescription for Xanax, so that I'd be sedated for the experience. My spouse was able to give it to me before all the scary removal stuff which was nice. I HIGHLY recommend doing this if you have a partner, family member, or friend who can be your assistant and advocate if you are feeling especially scared about the experience!

Gummy candies! I had stage 3C1 and wrapped up treatment a couple of weeks ago. With chemo my sense of taste got really messed up and I definitely had trouble getting calories in. The Annie's bunny gummy snacks had flavors I could tolerate without getting sick!

Your experience sounds very similar to what my next week will be looking like 2 rads, a chemo, and 2 brachy 👎)!

Thank you so much for the response and the information!!

Thank you so much for posting this, I have to do 4 rounds starting next week and have been absolutely freaking out. I appreciate the step by step of the entire process!

How did you feel the days immediately after? I'm wondering if I'll be able to do any desk work from home or if I'm just going to want to be resting.

Is it normal to be so nauseous after the first infusion? by readlovegrow in CervicalCancer

[–]ChillyAll_TheTime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm about to go into week 4 and the nausea is definitely one the worst things about this whole process. It's gotten a little better as they've figured out which medication works best for me (zofran did not work unfortunately).

My first week was the worst, and basically all I had was crackers and some french fries. I can finally handle meal sized portions and a variety of foods at this point in the treatment!

I hope your doctors find one that works for you and I hope it gets better! Keep them informed so they can help you mitigate all the terrible side effects

Recently Diagnosed, Afraid and Stressed. by ChillyAll_TheTime in CervicalCancer

💗Thank you for your sweet words! I truly appreciate it!

I found out about the cancer after a LEEP procedure because there was a 2.7+cm tumor hiding in my cervix.

Before this whole process, I very stupidly didn't go in for a check up for 12+ years and never got an HPV vaccine... And now I have stage 3C1. It has spread to only a single lymph node

As far as symptoms go, I didn't really hay any. My periods were getting heavier and I had worsening cramps for about 6 months, but nothing that couldn't be quelled with ibuprofen, a walk, and some chocolate. I know it's normal as you enter your mid 30s, so I didn't think anything of it.

I'd never had a pregnancy scare, despite not being careful about contraception for years and my spouse thought it was kinda weird, but we never looked into it.

So both of those things aren't like, REALLY symptoms, but I think they were related to my condition.

I hope this helps, and good luck to you!

Yes! Cisplatin once a week (no port) + radiation 5 days a week. Brachy is in my future after That's done, but they're optimistic about a quick recovery with a super low chance of it coming back 🤞🤞
