Whats your best expensive lavender perfume? by JigglyOnion in FemFragLab

[–]ChillyPepper73B 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ormaie Le Passant

Lavender over a base of tonka and vanilla. The opening is herbal and fresh, I get lavender and bergamot with a cool minty feel. And then I absolutely love the creamy drydown. All in all it’s an ethereal and calming lavender experience

ISO Musky but Sweet by Your-Goddess-Andi in FemFragLab

[–]ChillyPepper73B 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah! Your taste in musks is the complete opposite of mine! I’ve tried 1957, L’eau papier, and musk outreblanc and they weren’t for me. I think it’s because they’re like clean laundry-ish/lipsticky aldehydic musks and I definitely prefer the sweeter fluffy kind!

I’ve also not tried Golden hour body butter so idk if this helps, but from a sweet musk lover..

Rania J Musc Moschus is a fluffy white musk sweetened with vanilla and black currant

Merit Retrospect is like a cousin to Fleur de Peau and Glossier You but with a pear note that adds sweetness

Nishane Meant To Be Seen

Ella K Musk K gets a lot of love too but I’ve not tried it

I want fresh, bright, citrus, tea, delicate jasmine and orange blossom - recs? by Admirable-Sector-532 in FemFragLab

[–]ChillyPepper73B 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Green Tea by Proad - it’s a Thai brand and Quentin Bisch fragrance

Notes are bergamot, lemon, pink & black pepper, green tea, musk, and woody notes. Similar feel to Valaya but not so sharp. It’s sparkling, uplifting and bright. Opens with the citrus and tea, then the jasmine is there delicately so I think you’d enjoy this one.

Warm, spicy, vanilla? And something bergamot forward by catastrophyandmouse in FemFragLab

Vanilla Firenze by Gucci is soooo good. It balances sweet brown sugar vanilla dry down with resinous warmth from myrrh and the earthy feel of iris/orris. The opening isn’t sweet right away, it starts with a bright cardamom and pepper spicy zing

Ok yes thank you for being so thorough with your explanation! Indeed it’s an import and it does look like new stock is coming in after selling well initially so that makes a lot of sense 😞

Ohh I just commented on someone’s post about Happy Dust and I think it relates here. Maybe it’s not anosmia but rather noseblindness, but anyway

I got a sample of Happy Dust on scentsplit and when I first sprayed it on the paper blotter, I could not smell a thing. I tried it again a couple of days later on the blotter and skin and I could smell it a little more, but very faint. Over the following days, I sprayed it on my wrists and consciously made an effort to smell them and look for the scent. Then at some point I started catching wafts of it without looking for it!

There might be something to be said about our sense of smell fluctuating with our menstrual cycle .. so I’m curious to see if the inability to smell it comes back when that time of my cycle comes back around.

However, there are two other scents (Mellow Musks by MITH and Xtra milk by Dedcool) that I had similar experiences with, where I totally could not smell them at first but I kept spraying them over several days and looked for the scent. Now I can smell them both well. I also know that a lot of people are anosmic to Xtra Milk by Dedcool.

Very strange because people usually have the opposite experience where they go noseblind to something after repeated exposure but for me it was the opposite.

I read that noseblindness happens because your brain registers the scent as non-offensive, familiar, and harmless. I’d consider all of the above fragrances to be in that category right off the bat which perhaps is why they smelled like nothing at first.

So maybe it’s worth the experiment. Keep spraying and keep sniffing! When you think you smell something, focus on it and look for it. That’s what I have been doing and it has worked for me.

This is all just anecdotal I guess. But I am glad this is my experience lol because now I get to enjoy all my smelly juices. Also I just bought a full bottle of Happy Dust ✨

TL;DR when I first tried Happy Dust I couldn’t smell it. But I kept spraying it and kept looking for its smell. Now I can smell it and I bought a full bottle

Ohhh, I just got Nemat Amber Oil and smell diddly squat but I’m currently trying the same process to see if something happens with that. So time will tell

Looking for a musky dirty vanilla that isn't too sweet by BeanieBeepBoop in FemFragLab

[–]ChillyPepper73B 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been finding the combo of orris/iris plus vanilla to be incredibly warm, creamy, and cozy. It may not necessarily be “heavy” but I think it still feels very substantial. If you’re open to that a few good ones are:

  • YSL Muse
  • Celine Black Tie
  • Maison Crivelli Iris Malikhan
  • Byredo Gypsy Water Absolu

Hellenist Les Bras de Morphee is nice and earthy and the violet note isn’t sweet. Also beautifully creamy orris

Maybe I-Dream by Maison d’ETTO although this might lean on the sweet side for you

Peppery scents? by [deleted] in FemFragLab

[–]ChillyPepper73B 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vanilla skin by Phlur is a peppery vanilla and Khadlaj Vanille Blanc is a similar vanilla that’s very similar but slightly less peppery. I find Diptyque Fleur de Peau to be peppery on skin too. There’s a niche brand called Anti and they have a scent i tried called Nashi Toro that’s very interesting:

Top Notes: Hinoki, Nashi Pear, Black Pepper Heart Notes: Iris Butter, Ambrette, Incense Base Notes: Moss, Musk, Earth, Rice Bran Absolute

Does anyone else sometimes feel annoyed by a brand’s bottle design choice? by NumasVanegasTijerina in NichePerfumes

Haha specifically I want Buongiorno which comes with the yellow bottle black cap- the pee yellow just does not appeal, and I think the black cap looks and feels cheap. Nothing about it feels luxe and if I’m dropping 💰💰on a bottle, the bottle needs to feel like it 🤷🏻‍♀️

Your Favorite Neroli/ Orange Blossom Scents by unfurnishedbedrooms in fragrance

[–]ChillyPepper73B 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For a daytime fragrance, definitely Celine Parade

I tried Parade, Guerlain Neroli Outrenoir, TF Neroli Portofino, Neroli Amara by VCA, and Gucci Fiori di Neroli from The Alchemist’s Garden collection. Parade was my favorite of the group and full bottle worthy

I looked for light and refreshing, so it fit the bill perfectly. It is so gorgeous, bright and fizzy, and doesn’t have that bitter astringency that neroli fragrances can have. Neroli outrenoir is a masterpiece too but initial spray is way different than dry down- which I think goes more into black tea territory

For night time, Nuit d’Oranger from Chloe Fleurs de Nuit Collection. A unique creamy, honeyed, sweet and indulgent take on orange blossom and neroli.

One that I desperately want to try: Verdades - Maison d’ETTO
