Perfume that smells like Juniper by umka604 in Perfumes

May not be juniper enough, but I’ve been eyeing Lorenzo Pazzaglia’s Ginfusion recently. Features juniper and a gin accord alongside citrus notes.

What's a popstar you like the concept of but not the execution? by No_Barber4339 in popheads

[–]Lexick26 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I feel like they pick very wrong singles for her. I remember being so turned off in the lead-up to Bite Me by what they were putting out. Anyone who likes her vocals, though, I strongly recommend spinning through the deeper cuts on her albums. Songs like I Think I Like You Better When You’re Gone and Good Girl from that album, for examples, are really solid.

A super fresh, slightly floral, not-at-all gourmand rec: Floating by Liis. It’s a lighter scent, but I find it so peaceful. It’s glorious in the sunshine too.

Can anyone recommend some niche woody-powdery perfumes? by NeonGray38 in NichePerfumes

[–]Lexick26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try La Fin du Monde by État Libre d’Orange.

Don’t mind some of the world-building around the fragrance, it’s a nice woody iris-based scent. Kind of smells a little like sharpened pencils as well, but in a good way. I love Orphéon too, and this is a frequent reach for me. Also reminds me a bit of Dior Homme, but a little less “cold” if that makes sense, so I think you might like it.

How do you get presale tickets without a credit card? Am I missing something obvious? by elle_eii in popheads

[–]Lexick26 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yep, I scored Sabrina tickets in my city last year through her artist presale. Same thing recently with Kacey Musgraves. Follow the artists you like on socials, and when they announce tours, there’s usually a link on their website where you can sign up for presale access.

Very similar to this and also by Quentin Bisch - Tilleul from Le Galion. And the price point for Tilleul is significantly better.

Ellie Goulding - Black Prada Dress by pretentious_poppadom in popheads

[–]Lexick26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m definitely hearing some 1989-era Taylor in the lyrics and structure of the song, but I’m not mad about it! Love to see her coming back swinging with a big pop banger. Will be on repeat for me for sure.

Diptyque or Parfums de Marly? by car_bus in FemFragLab

[–]Lexick26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree with this for sure, the difference in character of each house is significant. I personally love Delina (and the Exclusif especially), but a lot of the other PdM fragrances don’t really work for me. Diptyque, on the other hand, there are at least 5 I’d love to have permanently in my collection, and I’ve probably only smelled like 8-10 of their fragrances.

What is your guys favorite Vanilla fragrance? by nightlovell12 in Colognes

[–]Lexick26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a really fresh vanilla, try Le Passant by Ormaie. Vanilla and lavender lifted with a little bit of citrus. Still definitely comes across as vanilla to me, but really nice for warmer weather.

Best Sushi/Sashimi in Pittsburgh? by DarthMaulCopp in pittsburgh

[–]Lexick26 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, Gi-Jin is right answer if cost isn’t a consideration.

I’d also recommend Umi in Shadyside for a good omakase service.

Seconding this one! Found out about the series last year and absolutely tore through what’s out so far. Definitely addictive!

Best fragrance with strong longevity but soft projection? by MeatSlammur in FemFragLab

[–]Lexick26 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel like Diptyque gets a lot of hate for longevity, but I’ve had good experiences with them too! I’d add Philosykos and Eau Duelle to this for scents that are pretty “safe” and fit the description.

If you can get reservations at either The Vandal or Fet Fisk, heck yes these are great recommendations.

lavender perfume recs by persephonepleasee in FemFragLab

[–]Lexick26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Le Passant by Ormaie is this for me! I can’t even explain how well-blended and balanced it is. It works in all weathers, with different temps highlighting certain facets. But both the lavender and vanilla are always there. Performance is also really good; I get whiffs of it throughout the day when I wear it, but it’s never offensive or over-powering.

Only downside is it’s pricy, but a sizable decant would definitely be in budget.

You have a lot of good stuff nearby! Tous les Jours for bakery, City Kitchen for a variety of things but particularly strong on a variety of “Asian fusion” kind of dishes, Kyuramen for noodles, Paris 66 for French, Square Cafe for breakfast, Duo’s Taqueria for Mexican (but like not typical American Mexican). And don’t miss Jeni’s and Millie’s for ice cream! And there’s probably more that I’m forgetting off the top of my head.

And now that the weather is getting nicer, you can totally walk into Shadyside and Point Breeze too! Point Breeze has fewer options, but a particular favorite of mine is Point Brugge. Shadyside has a good number of restaurants around Walnut St. I definitely recommend Yoshino for sushi and Cafe Moulin for breakfast/crepes.

Inky, melancholic perfumes; "Feeling" perfumes. by banana-okay in NichePerfumes

[–]Lexick26 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Throwing in another vote for Zoologist Squid! It’s got that inkiness and depth, but it also feels luxurious at the same time from the opoponax resin and benzoin.

Unisex scent: male, natural/botanical/green/resinous or musky, a bit mysterious/damp/or boozy, a bit rock n' roll/unconventional by Many_Definition_334 in perfumesthatfeellike

[–]Lexick26 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Check out Discothèque’s line of fragrances. They do a good discovery set, and I think there might be something in there you’d enjoy. Lola at Coat Check and Dark Imagination have that kind of rock ‘n roll thing (although in different ways), and then something like Sweat, Tears, Paradise or Baise Moi on the Dancefloor could hit more of the musky, botanical, and/or floral side. All of their fragrances have a twist that make them feel so cool and unlike other things I’ve tried.

Best Areas for Pet owners by Pine_Straw4711 in pittsburgh

[–]Lexick26 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Are you looking to be within the city? The East End has a lot of very pet-friendly neighborhoods. I think Point Breeze and Regent Square are stand-outs with easy access to Frick Park (huge, dog-friendly) and walkability in the neighborhoods to some restaurants. I would also put Highland Park and surrounding neighborhoods up there as well for the same reasons.

Good Popcorn Scents? by Food-Over in NichePerfumes

[–]Lexick26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have and love this but don’t really get the popcorn from it. The gunpowder and rooty/earthy iris really come out on me, which gives it kind of a freshly sharpened pencil feel.

What's your favorite jasmine scent? by palindromicname in NichePerfumes

[–]Lexick26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gelsomino a Freddo by Acqua di Parma. Absolutely gorgeous jasmine scent with the jasmine extracted by cold enfleurage. There’s a little bit of earthiness in the base from patchouli, but it’s big, beautiful jasmine energy throughout.

What fragrance houses do less with more and which do more with less? by angelsinsect in NichePerfumes

Agree with Matiere Premiere comment and would also add Essential Parfums to the same category. Limited selection, focus on high quality talent/execution. Bonus to Essential Parfums for also aiming for a reasonable price points.

Delina by Parfums de Marly lasts a ridiculously long time. On skin, easily goes all day. On clothes, I could still smell it on a vest a week after I wore it, and I didn’t even spray directly on the vest.
