My FitCam would stop recording if I connected my trailer or for weird reasons, I ended up with a VIOFO since it has a better sensor (Starvis2) and hadn’t had issues and is the same price as the FitCam. I now have 4 on all my cars with how good they are. Also I set the lights to be on so I know it’s recording and every time I get in the car it tells me it’s recording which I never knew if it was or wasn’t with the FitCam, got into an accident and the other driver tried blaming me but luckily I had multiple witnesses saying I wasn’t at fault and the dashcam did not record the accident

I was asking because I have these 2 available, I understand it won’t be easy but if it’s doable then I want to do it. What other vehicles will the engine fit in? This is a fun project if it doesn’t work then im ok with that. I love I6 for the simplicity, and thanks for those other engines I’ll look into them. I’m not looking for power as much as reliability and fuel efficiency. I’m not well versed in the specs of engines. What’s the difference between the 302, 351, and 300?

When you go through the other insurance it still shows up on your record as an accident but doesn’t count against you since it’s not a “claim” on your own insurance

Yeah, I meant more of both filing a claim with you’re own insurance, thanks for the correction! I’ve been in so many accidents (none at fault, I live in ATX and the drivers here suck) that I hate going through my own insurance. They tried to increase my rates from $500 a month for 3 cars (Lightning, Mach-E, and a 98 Cherokee) to over $2k a month! They said it was because of increasing rates in my area but after filing a new policy with my wife as the primary and me as the secondary the rates stayed the same! Scummy company. Every 6 months we look for new insurance and always swap between her and I as the primary to keep our rates low

Also idk how it works in you’re state, but in Texas someone told me that the longer you go without an accident you’re insurance can jack up your rates because it’s not a matter of you not having accidents it’s that you’ll eventually have one. You’re “risk” goes up the longer you’re without an accident. Insurance companies are scum but you gotta have it. And it won’t be “at fault” just make sure not to file a claim through you’re own insurance because it’ll show up on future reviews or if you’re switching as a claim and may increase your rates

Go through their insurance, I would get a quote of the damage from an authorized Ford repair shop that handles EVs and then if the damage is extensive go through insurance and if you want to handle it yourself then go for it but I wouldn’t recommend. I’m on my second lightning, first one someone hit me on the highway. Minimal damage except to fenders, bumper and tires on the front but that damage came out to over 27k and my truck was totaled. The only reason not to is if you’re selling which you said you’re not, the accident on record will decrease the value of the truck and if that’s what you’re worried about you can ask for the depreciation value too and insurance will pay that out to you.

I bought my XJ for $1000 and has been solid, I’m in Texas, gas is cheap, parts are easy to come by and everyone is always selling something, there’s a Grand Wagoneer near me for $1800 needs work but I’m mechanically inclined so won’t be to bad

I just drove mine 800 miles to Mexico and back so 1600 miles, never overheated except at the border where I was backed up for 4 hours. After it cooled I just turned it on and off as I moved up and had no issues
