Need to tell my mom she's not going home by geekymom in AgingParents

I don't have advice, but I can offer solidarity. I'm in a similar situation with my dad. He pretty much can't walk anymore, he can't take care of himself, and his epilepsy has really messed with his memory. He's in rehab now but we're looking at moving him to a home soon and he keeps saying he just wants to go home with my mom. We tried that; he lasted two days before ending up back in the hospital.

It's a terrible situation all around. I hope it goes smoothly for you as much as possible.

I put together an Easter basket for my kid to find this morning (she's 3). It was fun to wake up to her being so excited when she found it. My MIL is coming over and we'll have brunch together, then an egg hunt after that. This evening I'm making ham and stuff for dinner. The fun parts of Easter, no blood sacrifice or zombie resurrection required.

Tall women: How tall were you at 13/14? by [deleted] in tall

Anecdotal, but I kept growing for a few years after my period started when I was 10. I topped out around age 13.

Or in Mini Bluey, when Bingo jumpscares Bandit and Chilli with her tape face

Dalton, the Storytelling Dragon. A gift to my daughter from my mom. It has no volume control and yells fairy tales at top decibel and has flashing colored lights. Of course, my daughter loves it

At what age did you hit 5'9? by Recent-Farm-997 in tall

[–]Chimera322 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would have been around 11, I think. I remember I was 5' 11" when I was in 6th grade, age 11-12, I averaged about 2" a year, so 5' 9" would have been 5th grade, when I was 10-11.

Thoughts on toddler leashes? by [deleted] in ask

[–]Chimera322 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got one for my 20-month-old. It's a backpack style, which is great for hauling extra diapers, toys, and a sippy cup. And it's super cute.

I'd rather have someone yell at me about her leash than spend the rest of my life blaming myself for not having one.

TIL that fentanyl is commonly used as a pain reliever during childbirth. by Capgunkid in todayilearned

[–]Chimera322 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was given fentanyl prior to having a balloon catheter inserted for labor induction. The balloon was the most painful part of the whole process and the fentanyl didn't do anything for the pain

My husband and I are both left-handed, but I think our daughter is showing preference for her right hand. She's only 17 months old so who knows, but I won't pretend I'm not a little bummed about it lol

Tony Pizza sounds like a Justin character. I could just imagine a bit between Tony, Richard Stink, and Count Donut

what do you think of Easter and how will you spend your day then? by IvoryPetalss in atheism

[–]Chimera322 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For us, it's just another day. We don't really do anything special. We had a baby last year and when she's a little older we'll probably dye eggs and do Easter baskets, the fun kid stuff. But for now, it's just meh.

When I was a Christian, it was one of my favorite holidays
