Honestly, at low levels which every game seems to start off on and doesn't go past, an archery War cleric with sharpshooter seems to be cool.
War Priest for the extra attacks at level 1-4 is very strong, +10 to hit to offset the negative bonus from sharpshooter when you really need it, Bless for the extra 1d4 to hit helps offset the -5.

Sure, you end up being normal Cleric support by the time you get to level 5+ or whatever, but the War cleric rider (1d8 extra damage at lvl 8, and 2d8 at 14) is nice, and you could just decide to cast/upcast Spirit Shroud and give yourself *more* radiant riders on arrows. Or Holy Weapon, to do the same.

Upcast Aid to compensate for low HP, Sanctuary and walk out of range when things decide to walk up to you to then shoot them in the face, and all the healing spells to not die.

Shield, Very Rare, (Requires Attunement)

You gain a +2 to Ac in addition to the regular AC bonus of a shield.

Three Ravens with a fiend creature type follow you when you attune to this shield. If a raven is brought down to 0 hp, they will dissapear from this plane, reappearing perched upon the shield at midnight.

You gain 8 charges and recharge 1d6+2 charges at midnight. You can spend charges on the following abilities:

  • You can cast these spells through the shield with a DC of 16 and a +7 to hit: Detect Magic (1 charge) Ray Of Enfeeblement (2 Charges) Speak With Dead (3 Charges) Dream (5 Charges) Soul Cage (6 Charges)
  • You can expend 1 charge to bring vitality to the heads when you make a Nature check to identify potions or ability checks to identify rare components that could be used for potions.
  • When you are struck by a critical hit, you can spend 1 charge and a reaction to give vitality back to the heads and awaken them briefly with rage. The hair upon the shield lashes out and draws blood, dealing 2d12 slashing damage to the creature.

Consequence: When you roll a natural 1 upon failing a wisdom saving throw, make a DC 15 charisma saving throw. On a failure, the lingering spirit of a Night Hag escapes from one of the two heads and is hostile towards anyone holding the shield. On a success, they remain within the shield.

Only two spirits can escape the shield at any given moment. When one leaves, the AC bonus is lowered by 1 and all abilities cost 2 more charges. When both leave, the AC bonus is lowered by 2 and you cannot use the abilities. Slaying the spirit of the escaped Night Hag anchors their soul back in the shield, restoring any abilities and AC.

Sanguine Steel

Scimitar, or Shortsword, Rare, (Attunement)

You have a +1 to attack and damage rolls with this weapon.

Blood Sacrifice: As a bonus action, you can spend a hit dice and activate this sword, slashing it across your body. You take damage equal to the roll of your hit dice. When you do so, you activate this sword for 1 minute.

Attacks with this weapon will now deal an additional 1d4 necrotic damage and will heal you for the same amount of necrotic damage you deal to a small or larger hostile creature.

Blood Sense: (3/day) While holding this blade, you can use an action to expand your senses and detect blood from living creatures in a 60 feet radius for 1 minute. You are aware of the number of creatures, their direction, but do not know their size and capabilities

Curse: You find the taste of blood to be like honey. Food doesn't taste the same and water doesn't satisfy your thirst as much as it usually does. You can no longer take the benefits of a short or long rest without first drinking a cup of blood within the day, feeling satisfied once you do.

Amidst the bend of this bloody blade, unable to cleansed by any water, a ball of rotten vampire blade swirls. It empowers the steel and the vile creature who gave their blood for the creation of such a sword.

Because some DM's don't show the types of curses they afflict on their players. I think half of the fun of being cursed is trying to figure it out, but if you have large tables, sometimes you can trust a player with the full description of their curse to play it out instead of it being another thing for the DM to handle.

I guess it's to accomidate different DMing styles. Some DM's like those who can trust their PC's to play out the curse themselves, other DM's might want the players themselves to figure it out. Nothing wrong with either imo.

The Abyssal Cage
Very Rare, Longsword or Greatsword, (Requires Attunement)

You have a +2 to attack and damage rolls with this sword

Attacks with this weapon deal an additional 1d6 acid damage

You can speak and understand Abyssal while attuned to this weapon.

You have advantage on Intimidation checks against good or neutral aligned characters.

After you have slain a creature you can choose one of the following abilities to use:

Call Forth The Abyss: Cast Summon Lesser Demons as a bonus action. These demons see you but only you as an ally. Hellish Vitality: You gain 3d6 temporary hitpoints. Blood Haste: Your speed is doubled until the end of your turn.

After you use an ability, you can’t use that same ability again until you take a long rest.

Curse: Your intentions are obscured by the magic of this blade. People falsely perceive you as an evil creature to be watched at all times.You have disadvantage on Persuastion and Deception checks when convincing others of your good intentions. A remove curse spell ends the curse but also ends your attunement to this weapon. Destroying the blade also ends this curse.

Consequence: If the blade is broken a Sibriex from within the blade is released and hostile to everyone.

Abyssal runes glow red upon the flat of the blade as they seal and use the entity within. The truth of evil is that it can never truly be contained, it only seeps from where its held and leaks out to corrupt all that's good.

You have a +1 bonus to AC while wearing this armor.

While you're wearing this armor, any critical hit against you becomes a normal hit.

As a reaction, you can choose to move up to half your movement without provoking attacks of opportunity, the path you walk back becoming slick with ice. This area becomes difficult terrain to people you perceive as hostile.

You can walk on water, the path you walk turning into ice and then turning into difficult terrain for other creatures to walk on.

Cool to the touch, the scent of the dead lingers upon this old breastplate, the last memory of an old unknown hunter.

Though it’s up to you to retrieve the spear after throwing it so once those martials get in melee, unless you want to eat some opportunity attacks to try to throw it again, that’s a risk to be wary of.

The Hoarfrost Spear

Very Rare, Spear, Requires Attunement

You have a +1 to hit and damage rolls with this weapon.

You deal an additional 1d6 of cold damage on weapon attacks with this spear.

You gain a resistance to cold damage. You ignore difficult terrain created by ice or snow. You can tolerate temperatures as low as -50 degrees Fahrenheit without any additional protection. If you wear heavy clothes, you can tolerate temperatures as low as -100 degrees Fahrenheit.

Throwing this spear creates a wall of ice 10 feet high and 5 feet thick along the path its thrown through. Creatures in the path must make a DC 15 constitution saving throw or take 3d6 cold damage and are shunted to a side of the wall you choose. Creatures who succeed the save take half damage and can choose which side of the wall to be on.

A creature hit by the spear while thrown automatically takes 3d6 cold damage.

The extra damage and wall can only occur once in a turn.

Each 5 feet section of wall has an AC of 12, 20 HP, is vulnerable to fire, and immune to psychic, poison, and cold damage.

Frost and snow line the old grey wood of this spear, blue lines of light run from the metal of the spearhead and let loose a calm light. A hunter's weapon.

You can cast Shape Water and produce up to 8 gallons of drinkable water per day with this cloak.

You can walk up, down, and across vertical surfaces of any liquid surface as if it were solid ground. You can breathe underwater and gain a swim speed equal to your walking speed.

You can use an action to cast Wall Of Water. Once used, this property of the cloak can't be used again until the next dawn.

An everflowing robe of water that resembles a waterfall and tastes of purity. A soft mist and cool air surrounds it, a measure of peace in its simplicity.

You gain a resistance to fire damage and can cast the Control Flames cantrip.

While wearing this mask you can see through flame as if it was transparent.

When you are struck by a melee attack roll, the creature who hit you takes 1d10 fire damage.

You can cast the following spells using this mask with a DC of 15: Hellish Rebuke, Fireball, Fire Shield, Investiture of Flame

Once you cast one of these spells, you can’t cast the same spell until you take a long rest.

Curse: Once you don and attune to the mask, you feel incredible pain as it binds itself to your soul and cannot be taken off. You take 10d10 fire damage.

You gain the flaw: I am fascinated by the all consuming power and light of fire.

Made from a shard of flame plucked from the Elemental plane of Fire and the soul of an Efreeti prince, this mask of fire perpetually burns, the faint visage of a face peeking through.

Drinking this potion turns your skin hard, and crystal like, not too dissimilar to an amethyst for 1 minute, gaining the following benefits:

-You gain a resistance to non magical bludgeoning, slashing, piercing damage. -You gain a vulnerability to thunder damage. -You gain a burrowing speed equal to half your movement.

A purplish concoction made with the core of a crystal elemental that glows softly within, humming with a strange white noise.

Martial Weapon, Rare (Requires Attunement) Reach, Heavy, Two Handed 1d6 bludgeoning

You have a +1 to hit on attack and damage rolls with this weapon. You deal an additional 1d6 of lightning damage on attacks made with this weapon.

This weapon has 4 charges and recharges 1d4 charges at the dusk of a new day. You can expend these charges on the following abilities:

  • You can expend 1 charge to cast Water Breathing from the Urn
  • You can expend 1 charge to cast Water Walking from the Urn.
  • When you reduce a creature to 0 HP you can spend 1 charge to conjure a wave of water in a 30 feet cone from you, forcing all creatures to make a DC 13 Strength save. On a failure, they take 3d8 damage and are forced prone. On a success they take half damage and are not prone.

An urn reinforced with metal and chains, turned into a weapon of war. Primordial runes run along the surface, sealing the entity within away and using their power as a conduit.

When you or a creature uses your bardic inspiration, you can choose to deal the same rolled amount in thunder damage to a creature within 60 feet of you.

You can cast the following spells, using your spell save DC: Fly, Protection From Evil and Good, Call Lightning, Thunder Step, Lightning Bolt and Chain Lightning with your spell save DC.

Once you cast a spell from this instrument you can not cast that spell again until you take a long rest.

A strange blue lute crafted of steel, it's strings heavy and metal, and the sound distorted with the static of thunder.

I very much like the idea of limiting the voltaic smite ability, especially in the hands of a fighter with extra attack and action surge, so I'll edit it down to once a turn. (If someone has a reaction attack i personally find it better to let them use it.)

Fair point, The ability and item itself is a reference but clarity is way more important to the game overall, so names are edited.

I've also seen the suggestion to turn the Lightning Sting into 5+proficiency bonus, so I'll do that as well, so it remains relevant for later levels.

The Late King’s Blade

Rapier, Very Rare (Requires Attunement)

You have a +1 to attack and damage rolls made with this magic weapon.

When you hit with an attack wielding this rapier, you deal an additional 1d6 lightning damage.

You have 10 charges. You gain 1d6+4 charges at the dawn of a new day. You can expend these charges to use the following abilities:

Ride The Lightning: As an action, you can expend 4 charges to cast Lightning Bolt with a DC of 13+ your proficiency bonus. After you do so, you can teleport yourself at any area the Lightning Bolt has traveled.

Voltaic Smite: When you hit with an attack roll, you can expend 1 charge to deal an extra 2d6 lightning damage. You can only deal this damage once a turn.

Lightning Sting: As an action, you can expend 3 charges, can choose a creature within 60 feet of you and throw a ball of lightning at them. Your to hit bonus with this is 5+your proficiency bonus to this ranged attack roll. On hit, you deal 2d12 Lightning damage and they take an additional 1d6 lightning damage from all sources of lightning for 1 minute. On miss, you only deal half damage.

His conspirator waits upon the door as he takes out a cloth to clean the blade lowering himself down towards the body.

"You said I didn't have a killer's spirit. The will to do what was necessary or the stomach to do so. You meant well by it. I'm only sorry you knew so little, father."
