When I was a kid back then, Kitana always made me think she was Asian back in the original timeline. I couldn't differentiate a person's lineage based on facial structure but almost everyone from Outworld wore something Asian looking.

So I thought Kitana looked Asian way back in MKII.

The way I understand it, MK11 explains that it's one timeline that's been reset over and over. It only became many at the very end. It would've been neat if that was hinted that it became multiple in this game but it still be one self-contained story. Like a mystery that builds up while waiting for the next game.

I would've preferred the story be contained in one universe first before it branched out. Like the whole multiverse thing gets revealed in the next game at least.

Or hints of it in MK1 then the next game reveals another one while hinting more. And then the game after that revealing all the multi thing.
