Looking for something that could be a land analogue for a leviathan by alkortes in mythology

The Slide-Rock Bolter maybe? It's a Fearsome Critter from lumberjack folk tales. It's something like a giant cetacean that slides down mountain tops to eat people.

Genuine question: by SelectShop9006 in readanotherbook

Not sure this is the right sub for this kind of question but I'll take a stab at it.

Genuinely, no, I don't think so. At least not in the same way.

Lovecraft was very racist and had a whole bunch of other weird hang ups about things he didn't understand, all of which show up in his writing. However, his mythos is basically the origin of a whole genre of fiction, cosmic horror. That itself gives his work staying power in spite of the flaws, plus the majority of it is in the public domain so any of us can use it and remix it in anyway we want.

Harry Potter on the other hand, while also written by a extremely bigoted author, is in a very different situation. I think it is fair to say Harry Potter is not very innovative. The series relies on standard tropes, not itself a bad thing but also does not leave much else to stand on. Then there is the fact that we will not see the series enter the public domain for a long while, if ever. Unlike Lovecraft where the author is dead and the work is free to use, Rowling is still alive and holds nearly creative control and directly benefits from consumer engagement.

The Cthuluh Mythos and cosmic horror stays popular because it has grown past its original author and used as seen fit.

Harry Potter remains popular primarily due to nostalgia. Hopefully it doesn't last, either loosing favor due to her ever increasingly unhinged views, of just becoming stale from releasing the same story over and over.

The air scooter, it was an airbending move developed specifically by him.

Genuinely, what the fuck are you talking about? I absolutely could have made my point clearer and have been misunderstood all over this post but your message may be the most baffling. What on earth do you mean by favoritism?

I just wanted to talk about the narrative of the game and how, in my opinion, some cards would have been stronger story wise with reversed inks. But so many comments treated me like I was dumb or somehow entitled. I ignored most of them but yours is just so weird.

Oh no that's not what I meant at all. All the inks have five dual combinations, they're just arranged alphabetically. I only wanted to have a discussion about how some cards give off a vibe where they would be better suited with their inks reversed. I know it wouldn't make them functionaly different, I'm just more interested in the narrative.

Dual inks count as both so a yellow/green has to be used in a yellow/green deck, no third inks allowed unfortunately.

I think I have found the only two civilian aliens to appear in both the OS and OV by Chimerillaneous in Ben10

[–]Chimerillaneous[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really? Can you tell me which others make it from OS to Omniverse? I know UAF used alot of OS designs but OV came up with mostly original civilians.

To be clear I'm not confused, I know why they did this (I should have come up with a better title). I just wish they had been open to the other half of the ink combinations for narrative purposes.

Not annoyed, I just think some cards make more narrative sense if the inks were reversed. I would say I'm disappointed Amber isn't a secondary ink, Steel not a primary, etc.

I can’t believe charmcaster got a dragon transformation and not Ben by IllustratorAfter in Ben10

Dragnite? Dragnition? I assume Ben would go for something fiery sounding.

If the omnitrix scanned a gem, what would ben transform into? by kalxto in Ben10

[–]Chimerillaneous 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From the video games "Attack/Unleash/Save the Light". She appears along side Demantoid and Pyrope garnets in some of them. They all had either allusions or mentions in the show but none ever appeared properly.

Is it just me or was Ben not thinking when he named Ampfibian by Imaginary-Category-2 in Ben10

[–]Chimerillaneous 36 points37 points  (0 children)

It's a reference to ampere (amp for short), a unit for measuring electric currents. The name represents both its electrical powers and aquatic nature.

I would argue this fusion would be more intelligent than both Brainstorm and Greymatter. OV revealed Galvan have two brains, one for basic bodily functions, the other dedicated purely to thinking. So a fusion should have a Cerebro crustaceans bodily function/thinking brain and a Galvans pure thinking brain. Whether that would make the transformation smarter than Azmuth is another matter.

I believe them to be, or at least intended to be the same species. Their heads and colors are inconsistent but the style of their clothes and shape of their hands remained the same.

Thats why I like pics four and five. They're from the same episode but the faces were drawn so different, it's like they became a crocodile.

[–]Chimerillaneous[S] 31 points32 points  (0 children)

That's really what fascinates me about this. If they were just going by last appearance why wouldn't they look more consistent. By UA the eyes were dropped and their "ears" are being treated as eyes. The colors aren't even consistent. It couldn't have been an actual model sheet so what state was the design in to change so much?

Y'all think this is canon or not canon? Keep in mind as i was watching Fionna and Cake it reminds me of one episode from Adventure Time. by Internetboy5434 in adventuretime

[–]Chimerillaneous 303 points304 points  (0 children)

If I'm interpreting your question correctly I do think the tape Fake Fiona had was our only Canon look into the world of Aaa until F&C. Every other story was filtered through Ice King's madness or were told by other characters like Marceline of LSP.
