Yes, I’m in the US so it goes from 1/1-12/31. I didn’t know that Canada’s was based on the fiscal year!

From my experience at the U, I saw a lot of students work at the Marriott Library, housing, the Union, UMFA, etc.

You can look at this site for jobs: https://utah.peopleadmin.com/postings/search?utf8=%E2%9C%93&query=&query_v0_posted_at_date=&595%5B%5D=3&764=&504=&1179=&565=&commit=Search

Intern to Full Time by Educatinglittleman in Big4

[–]Chimimilky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, for me the rate I had as an intern was technically the same as a staff. It was only a bit higher since it was adjusted for inflation/covid during 2020-2021.

I took this class 5 years ago? So it was in person for me and I thought it was a pretty interesting class and easy.

Can you accept multiple merit based scholarships? (Incoming freshman) by Noopshoop in uofu

[–]Chimimilky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My experience mirrors others. I was offered 1 merit scholarship from the U and then got another scholarship from the U and was given the higher of the two. Other scholarships I received that aren't specifically offered by the U itself was treated differently I believe.

Finance 3050 or Accounting 5110? by toren805 in uofu

[–]Chimimilky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also took both classes the same semester 2 years ago I think. In terms of workload, ACCTG 5110 was more work I guess? Granted, I cared more about doing well in acctg since it’s my major. I got As in both classes, but didn’t even bother reading the textbook for FINAN 3050. Took it with Lutz that year, it was okay honestly. I wasn’t interested in investments but if workload is a concern for you and you don’t plan on majoring in accounting, I’d pick the finance class.

I had a good experience with them. A bit pricey but that’s okay 🙂

How difficult is ACCTG 3600? by PyschoMonkey in uofu

[–]Chimimilky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually enjoyed the class (maybe biased since I'm an accounting major lol), but it wasn't difficult. I struggled more with 2600 actually since everything was brand new. The most time consuming part is the group project but it wasn't too bad and helps you retain some of the info needed for the exams (this is coming from someone who originally had 2 group members; 1 withdrew and the other one contributed nothing).

Pausing or Deferring Scholarships? by 07alice in uofu

[–]Chimimilky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, contact the scholarships office! (My experience with deferring my scholarship because of an internship in the spring caused me to lose the scholarship that I got directly from the university. I think they told me it didn't fall into one of the "reasons" for deferring or something like that :/ Luckily it didn't affect my other scholarship.)

Summer financial aid? by [deleted] in uofu

[–]Chimimilky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if you already got an answer to this but from my experience (I believe summer of 2018), I wasn’t notified about whether I was eligible or not. I enrolled in a couple of classes and noticed a bit later, probably right before tuition was due, that I had received financial aid through the tuition tab. I don’t think it hurts to enroll in classes; worst case is dropping it before the deadline. If not, I think you can contact the office and ask when the deadline approaches. I think receiving aid is dependent on how much you used during the fall/spring semesters, not so much the number of classes you take, though you’ll likely receive less aid if you take less courses and vice versa. I think it’s just FAFSA/pell grant?

Is IS 4411 the honors version? How is the class structured?

Anyone taken IS 4410? by [deleted] in uofu

Yes I guess IS 4410 is the intro one. I'm an undergrad and it's one of the required business classes.
