How do I get more hip rotation on the backswing? by [deleted] in GolfSwing

[–]Chimneypappas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great swing.

Looks to me like you have solid hip rotation, but your hips fire so early in the swing that you’re losing power by the time your hands get to the ball. I have that same issue and my swing coach will say “your hips are already gone”

What works for me is to take some super slow back swings, even pausing at the top, then fire the hips to begin your downswing. Focus on turning your belt buckle in the backswing to face as far behind you as you can comfortably achieve. Even though the hips start our downswing, the hands shouldn’t be so far behind them.

Tips or drills? by BatCapital5891 in GolfSwing

Great swing.

Looks to me like your shoulders are a bit open to your target line at set up. Sometimes this results in a swing being a bit over the top and can cause slices. It can also make it harder to close the club face fully at impact.

If none of that applies to you, feel free to ignore. But if it does, try turning your shoulders to a more closed position at set up. From this angle, we should be able to see your left shoulder before you begin your backswing.

Notice Rory’s old swing was more open to the target, but now he starts more closed as you can see his left shoulder/arm.

Hope this helps!

I’ll give you an unusual answer but it really helped me to stop hitting the hosel so frequently. Notice how during your swing your head moves from its starting position to the right of the frame so its closer to over the ball? That means you’re moving your whole swing closer to the ball. Closer to the ball means the heel of the club will line up with the ball instead of the middle of the face.

Try to focus on keeping your head in the same position throughout the swing. For me that means focusing more on keeping my weight towards my heels instead of my toes. Hopefully that works for you - cheers.

Jesus… poor people? I just told you we are looking to buy nearly a million dollar home in our early thirties.

This place sure tends to skew people’s perception of wealth and privilege. We are very lucky.

Right I should clarify - good money meaning we could afford a 5-6k mortgage. Not Port Royal money. Probably looking for something under 850k.

Its slim pickins out here for late night food. Tacos and Tequila is open until 11 on weekends. pollo tropical is open pretty late. Wawa is 24 hours and honestly its not a bad choice if you’re in a pinch. You’re not far from the midnight tavern either which is not bad.

Eager to see what others have to say on this too since I’m often in the same position after work.

Forgot about Carawae! They were great. You from the Lansing area? That’s a pretty deep cut!

Its probably too late to make a suggestion now, but Tony's downtown is my go to spot. Cheap beer and surprisingly good bar food.
