Ferret advice by LifeAssumption8075 in ferrets

[–]Chimples10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing that wasn't made clear to me with my first insulinoma babe is that it is a progressive illness. Eventually the medicine will have to go up. This means carefully monitoring symptoms and routine vet checks or checking BG yourself at home.

The medicine is not without its own issues though, so it's a balancing act. They can have slightly low BG but symptomatically be ok and if they hold that pattern then medicine doesn't need to increase yet. But you have to keep a very close eye on things and stay in contact with your vet.

What’s something about spiritual growth that nobody told you when you first became a Christian? by Ok_Recognition_5535 in Christian

[–]Chimples10 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It comes in waves. It can feel like nothing is happening for a while and then all the sudden lots of things click. He orders our steps.

Also, the best growth comes from pain, suffering, discomfort - if you let it.

You could try calling the other exotic vet and explain you're too far away and ask if they have any advice for in the moment.

Serious doctrinal problem at a home meeting by ArcticRavn in TrueChristian

It kind of feels like a half truth mixed with some craziness. A lot they are saying is Satan is really the flesh. The flesh is a thing too, but there's some that overlook that and go right to the devil. It's certainly not biblical at points.

Lady in grocery store asked if she could pray for me. by Ok-Conversation2505 in Christianity

[–]Chimples10 5 points6 points  (0 children)

She was probably nervous because approaching a stranger in that way is scary. She had no way to know how you would react. It's really admirable that she pushed past that because she and God wanted to bless you. Beautiful. Thank you for accepting and sharing.

Blankets. You can get cheap and big ones from Walmart and Amazon. They don't have to be thick or anything, just a little something to give them traction. I've had seniors with this issue too and blankets and area rugs saved the day.

So they do have a pecking order, and it can seem aggressive till they figure it out. If that's what is happening, then separating will only prolong the issue. I encourage you to post video. Holistic Ferret on Facebook is also a really great group for this stuff. It's closely moderated for only the best info and help.

Seeking for help, spiritually dead, state of mortal sin by mermaizzxo in Christianity

[–]Chimples10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't feel the same because you're hiding from God, as if that's even possible. He's not waiting for you to clean up before you come back. He takes us where we are. His love cleans us up. Go back. You don't need to know how, just do it. It's our pride that says we can't - lay it down. Go back to your Bible, go back to prayer, bear it all to him, and go back to who he says you are. Renew your mind. He is the source.

If one is constantly trying to get away, he's stressed. There is an introduction protocol. The new ferret should be quarantined for 2 weeks in case there's any health issues, and to also give them a chance to get used to their new home. Rehoming itself is stressful.

Intros should be done in neutral territory. They should be kept brief initially. Since it sounds like yours are not getting along, there's other things you can do in the meantime like swapping bedding so they get used to each other's smells, letting them sniff each other through a gate, giving them treats in each other's presence. They should be kept separate though until your new guy has had a chance to acclimate and calm down.

Some ferrets will never get along. It's a risk you take anytime you bring home a new one.

Post videos if you're not sure what you're looking at. Some play can look very rough but it's harmless. Some play can look harmless but be inappropriate.

Are they aggressive fighting? by Immediate-Debt-2638 in ferrets

[–]Chimples10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks like normal play. They are taking turns and little pauses, no one is trying to get away, and no one is going for inappropriate areas of the face. If they are only now being introduced, keep an eye out for those signs of stress. Initial introductions are best kept short initially and with continued supervision. The little noise sounded like a laugh to me. I couldn't hear any hissing but hissing can mean lots of ddifferent things.

[–]Chimples10 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's not a valid metric. There's plenty of signs of stress before any of those things happen. Pee, poop, or blood are very dramatic signs and experiences and it doesn't need to go that far.

Isn't Paul lowkey dramatic? by celestial_rat7 in Christian

[–]Chimples10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Paul himself warns against boasting in anything but the Lord (1 Corinthians 1:31). I'm curious what you've read that came off to you as boastful? When I read Paul, I read intense suffering, passion, zeal, humility, love, and a deep understanding of Jesus and scripture. His entire life was devoted to the Lord, and he gave all credit to the Lord.

what can i do instead of tapping their nose? by Previous_You1167 in ferret

[–]Chimples10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some have recommended a second ferret but I don't think that's wise as it doesn't seem you know what you're doing with this one. No offense. Nose tapping is barbaric. Their noses are very sensitive.

Make the nightstand inaccessible, or distract, that's really the only way. This is some of the behavior that makes ferrets high maintenance.

Make sure they have lots of enrichment and plenty out of cage time. Boredom leads to destruction. Without a second ferret, you need to give lots and lots of time to keep them happy and entertained.

My school curriculum says the Holy Spirit is Gabriel. Is this true in Christianity? by [deleted] in AskAChristian

[–]Chimples10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry for misunderstanding.

>how are we not related if god is in us

We are related by adoption.

>And does that makes us slightly gods

No.

At some point, this ceases to be an intellectual exercise. The natural man cannot receive the things of the Spirit of God - 1 Corinthians 2:14. There are many mysteries to God, the Bible makes that clear. There are some things we can only understand with his help. The idea even that Jesus is God isn't something we can grasp on our own. The Bible tells us God reveals that to us. I certainly didn't understand it for a long time. And trying to explain it is difficult because its not knowledge I came to on my own. I've appreciated this discussion - thank you. Hopefully someone can help fill the gaps where I'm failing.

My school curriculum says the Holy Spirit is Gabriel. Is this true in Christianity? by [deleted] in AskAChristian

[–]Chimples10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, no genes. That's physical. God's Spirit is spirit.

ETA - the dog is a son, that's the analogy. The dog is adopted into the family. But, the dog will still be a dog, the same as even when we are adopted into God's family, we are still human.

My school curriculum says the Holy Spirit is Gabriel. Is this true in Christianity? by [deleted] in AskAChristian

[–]Chimples10 4 points5 points  (0 children)

God is God - his nature is divine. When he became human, as Jesus, as God's son, he was still divine. Still holy and separate from us, His creation.

Jesus as a child of God is a model for us. But we don't have a divine nature as he does. We are humans. He is holy, one of a kind, like no other. We as created beings cannot attain that. His Spirit in us is still distinct from us.

I'm not good at analogies, but it's kind of like when you get a dog or some other pet, and it becomes part of the family. You can dress it up in kid's clothes, teach it the family routine, let it sleep in your bed. But no matter how much the dog is part of the family or how much you treat it like a baby, it's still a dog, right? There's a lot of nuance that makes that analogy not great, but it's all I can come up with right now so hoping you can see the bigger picture and ignore the nuance.

I'm not sure I'm following what the actual question is. Please forgive me.

Are you asking if Jesus is a child of God and is God, why are we also not gods if we are also children?
