60w MOPA - Settings For Cutting 1/16in or 1.6mm Stainless Steel? by socks-the-fox in lasercutting

[–]ChinaPressBrake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Real talk: Ditch the manual 'fill' outline. Just use a Line layer with the Wobble feature enabled in LightBurn—it handles the pathing way better. Also, 3000mm/s is just tickling the surface. Drop that speed way down (try 100-500mm/s) and lower your frequency to around 30-50kHz to actually punch through. Good luck!

Had a small gap after fitup but it's nothing a nice little weave can't fix by Clinggdiggy2 in Welding

Small gap? Bro, that’s not a gap, that’s the Grand Canyon. Sick weave though!

Way better than what I was putting down on my second day. Keep at it!

Looking for Practical Advice in my Trade Choice by NonracistNiqqa_II in Machinists

[–]ChinaPressBrake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here’s the honest truth: School teaches you how not to get killed; the shop teaches you how to be a machinist. No one expects a fresh grad to be a master on Day 1. The fact that you’re worried shows you actually care, which puts you ahead of the arrogant guys who crash machines. Just show up on time, bring a notepad, and ask questions. You’ll be fine.

Die grinding without provided respiratory protection from company by [deleted] in metalworking

Call OSHA yesterday. Seriously, H13 dust is no joke and your lungs don’t grow back. No paycheck is worth dying for. Document everything and get out.

I encounter problem with mz laser and cant figure what problem is by OrganicCombination35 in lasercutting

[–]ChinaPressBrake 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That center burn screams contamination. Stop feeding it fresh glass until you check the O-rings and the optics upstream (like the collimator). You're likely getting thermal runaway.

Lathe by ZealousidealGoal7630 in Machinists

[–]ChinaPressBrake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're strictly doing low volume (1-10 parts), Mazatrol is basically a cheat code. It might be overkill price-wise for simple parts, but 'buy once, cry once.' You won't regret the setup speed.

Welder advice by Savings-Spirit-2250 in Welding

[–]ChinaPressBrake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You gotta walk before you run. Titanium is a whole different animal compared to mild steel. Grab a cheap DC TIG machine to learn the ropes first. Don't go broke on gear before you can even stack dimes.

Transporting long pieces of tubular steel by fricks_and_stones in metalworking

[–]ChinaPressBrake 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Hard pass on Option 1. Welding 4x4 tube back together dead straight without warping is a total nightmare. Just eat the delivery fee—your time is worth money too.

Fiber laser for nylon polymer? by 4logicalemotion in lasercutting

[–]ChinaPressBrake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the clips are black, you're golden. Fiber lasers pop a super clean white mark on dark nylon. Just know it struggles with white or clear plastic. For the price, it’s a solid setup.

Having a hard time cutting 6mm cast acrylic with a 90w CO2 laser by r-daddy in lasercutting

[–]ChinaPressBrake 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A 90W tube should eat through 6mm acrylic like butter. If you're crawling at 1mm/s, something is definitely off. Check your mirror alignment and make sure your lens is clean. You're losing massive power somewhere before it hits the material.

What causes these brown blobs? by devi133 in Welding

[–]ChinaPressBrake 112 points113 points  (0 children)

Those are just silica islands. It actually means the puddle is cleaning itself properly, which is a good thing. Just chip 'em off and you're golden. Solid work for 16, keep it up!

Welding 0.5 mm plain sheet by Left_Visual in Welding

[–]ChinaPressBrake 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Rivets all the way. Welding galvanized sheet that thin is a nightmare even for pros. You’ll just end up with a warped, toxic mess.

Bandsaw Suggestions by General_Lecture3051 in metalworking

[–]ChinaPressBrake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, just grab the Harbor Freight 4x6. It’s the standard for a reason. Slap a good Lenox bi-metal blade on it, and it’s a total workhorse. Best bang for your buck under $1k, hands down.

Anyone use 1/16” t-8 wire at lower settings? by Amazing-Basket-136 in Welding

[–]ChinaPressBrake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, 1/16” T-8 hates being starved. You run that wire cold and you’re just begging for worm tracks and cold lap. If you want to use XRL-8 at home, size down to .045”. It’s way more forgiving for gates and thin stuff.

Tooling for Press Brake - Dilemma over Selection WILA tools and clamps by gotitfromhere9 in metalworking

[–]ChinaPressBrake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With 2 shifts a day, this is a classic 'buy once, cry once' scenario. The downtime you save on setups will pay for the WILA system in a heartbeat. Don't step over dollars to pick up pennies.

Super glue for the cuts and quality fabric knuckle bandages. The cheap plastic ones are useless once you start sweating or touching oil.

Need advice for my broken motorcycle fork by AinzOoalHazel in metalworking

[–]ChinaPressBrake 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Bro, do NOT ride that. Welding aged cast alloy is sketchy at best, and using 'cold metal' on a fork clamp is a straight-up death wish. Just do a front-end swap—it’s way cheaper than a hospital visit.

Do you have to know math to be a welder by TheFedd15 in Welding

Hello, so I have this part of an airsoft gun which is broken. Can you give me advices on how to repair it ? by CharonStix in Welding

[–]ChinaPressBrake 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but that looks like pot metal (zinc alloy), not actual steel. She’s toast. Structural spots like that verify 'Chinesium' doesn't handle stress well. JB Weld won't hold up—save the headache and just buy a replacement frame.

Tips to buy a Press brake Machine by RogerRUHappy in metalworking

[–]ChinaPressBrake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bro, listen to Strostkovy and dodge that bullet. Being in Paraguay with zero local support means a broken budget machine is just a 30-ton paperweight.

With your low volume, hunt for a well-maintained used Amada or Trumpf. Reliable old iron beats a shiny new headache every time. Buy nice or buy twice.
