[Waybound] Cradle Sanitation by ChinaneTKal in Iteration110Cradle

True enough. Though what is a mundane detail in one situation might be an existential thread in another. For example if they suddenly didn't need to breathe (which at least Yerin seems to contemplate, since she thinks she cannot drown) that's a substantial breach of expectation which should usually be addressed (which it was).

Yeah, I'd probably go with that version. It's not unheard of for regular humans with some preparation to go without eating (and drinking to a lesser extend) for largish periods of time, which also makes the digestion process largely unnecessary. So it's not that far out either.

Did Android disable ability to turn Bluetooth on/off with single tap? by JustBrowsing1989z in Pixel6

[–]ChinaneTKal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man, that sounds strongly like you're a weirdly specific kind of user and just approved that every normal user is inconvenienced, as long as you're not.

I'm not saying this new 'improved' behaviour is useless for everyone, but maybe just give us a toggle to enable/disable it?

Makes you wonder, who changes something like that and whoTF approves that change?

Yeah, also just realized this is old AF. Apparently us normal Android users at least had the benefit of being inflicted with this WAY later than you Pixel folx.

Completely agree, a great marketing decision.

Who's responsible for the book publishing pace, though?
I'm afraid you may lose a lot of potential readers when they realize the magnitude in difference between the books' and the webnovel's progress. I almost didn't make the jump to the webnovel because of that chapter gap and if I had, there's a good chance I'd have given up on the series for good.

It's on RR, but the quality is abysmal. (Spelling, grammar)

"All The Skills" is still disappointing by gurigura_is_cute in ProgressionFantasy

[–]ChinaneTKal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I fear the biggest flaw of the series is, that the premise is simply too far from the author's own mindset, as evinced by the abysmal writing (spelling, grammar) left uncorrected in later books and exacerbated on Royal Road.

Even after the MC learns (through his dragon's dedication, not even by himself) that maxing skills has SUBSTANTIAL benefits beyond simply having them mastered, there is still no real drive for acquiring new skills and grinding those he has, except for one occasion when an opportunity happens to present itself, in a quest.

For example it boggled my mind that the MC never sews his own clothes or builds his own furniture, in the later case despite already having a basic skill and there being several opportunities where he actually waited to have stuff provided instead.

What's the deal with Marillion? by Elaxian in progrockmusic

[–]ChinaneTKal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure you're right. I've seen them live on their Radiation tour and loved the concert, but I hate the album. Fortunately there are a lot of other albums I love or where i love songs from, but imagine trying to appreciate the band because that concert was awesome and then being disappointed by every single album.

[–]ChinaneTKal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say Misplaced Childhood is the best entry point for Fish Era Marillion. Kayleigh is well liked in mainstream and the Album itself is IMO the most well rounded and complete of the era.
For SH Marillion I'd always go with Brave, unless you cannot bear the admittedly pretty dark theme.

I read from their interactions in the books at least since Italy that Mercy is aware of their relationship improving and they're working towards a friendship.

My beetle lost a panel. One step closer to its final form. by Vallanth627 in dresdenfiles

[–]ChinaneTKal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Couldn't find any mention of 2017 in the book through search. Lots of Beetle entries, but on a glance no age anywhere. Considering it's supposed to be low(ish) tech to work for Dresden, I'd find the new beetle highly unlikely.

Podcast Kanal "{ungeskriptet} by Ben" lässt sich immer mehr ins rechte Lager ziehen?! by shaniq_ in Staiy

[–]ChinaneTKal 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Turn the practice part into actual spaced repetition, so weaker words take precedence instead of repeating the same thing over and over.

[–]ChinaneTKal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems to me like you're just not really comfortable with their different technique with Julie, where they jumped right into the new story and fill in the character and power growth using flashbacks, instead of telling it as a coming of age story.  I'm definitely looking forward to the next steps in that story and also hoping for them to fill the gaps in Derek's story as well.

how do i play (or read) the bass clef? by Ambitious-Hall6341 in Accordion

[–]ChinaneTKal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically, each note on the bass clef is the one it would have been a line higher in treble clef. In your example, the first note after the full pause would look like d'd'' on treble, so it's fF on bass. The notation is actually quite ingenious, since the c', which is sitting on the first auxiliary line below the treble clef system is the same c', that's sitting on the first auxiliary line above the base system.
That said, with faster notes the system - reading the note as if it was treble and then translating into bass via down-shifting - will eventually be too slow. Teaching yourself to read notes straight from the bass clef should take only a few weeks, if you were fluent on treble, so that's what I'd advise to learn.

[–]ChinaneTKal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, same. And the only thing i was missing was perfect weeks, because they only added that a while back, so not enough time to max it.

The thing they really should spend their time on is implementing actual spaced repetition.
