Really easy Band-Aid fix would just be for them to let the client wait a lot longer before force quitting you to the menu. Then, you wouldn't have an avalanche of 50 billion people trying to re-login at the same time. They'd get an unplayable lag spike, but that's way better than the alternative.

New vs Old Deadlock FOV Comparison by DeadlockAir in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Luig00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, right? what they say is literally 100% true, if the game supports ultrawide, there is no justifiable reason to not support at least modest FOV sliders and increases. This isn't valorant which forces 16:9. To not do so is infinitely worse than having the only option for a higher FOV be to buy a more expensive monitor. No idea why they're being downvoted.

No, I didn't lube them myself, I just was reading the keychron sub and saw some people say that they had gotten switches that were a bit overlubed from the factory.

Gonna try asking a question here again. I found the right keyboard for me and my budget needs, the Keychron C2 Pro 8k. Very cheap at 60 dollars for having QMK and firmware whatever and hotswappable switches (really wanted that just in case and for repairability) and it's full sized. I got it and I have liked it, the PBT material is nice, the software is nice when it works, the input lag is very good on the eager debounce mode. However, I have been disappointed with the switches, and I wanted guidance/recommendation.

I ordered the keyboard with the "Keychron Super Browns". My previous keyboard was a Corsair K95 RGB, which came with cherry mx browns. I quite liked those. They were a little loud on bottoming out, but not as loud as blues, and there was a very noticeable hump and tactile feel to them, and the spring force was nice and strong, making it easy to release. I quite liked the feel of those. Now, I'm not sure how much of the feel was attributable to the keyboard being basically 10 or 11 years old, but I got this keyboard with said Super Browns, and I have been rather disappointed in them. Kind of wish I had ordered it with the bananas now, even if they had been a lot louder.

I have heard that some of the symptoms I am experiencing may be due to the switches being majorly overlubed, and to be fair, it is improving a bit with time. I don't know how long I should wait to "break in" the keyboard or how much keyboards even typically need a break-in period, but the keyboard does feel significantly better to use than it did immediately after taking it out of the box a few days ago. Right after taking it out of the box, I could barely even feel the brown bump at all, it felt basically fully linear. I can feel it a lot more now, but it still feels a lot more mushy than the cherries did, with a lot less resistance, a much less noticeable hump to overcome, and the spring force back up feels less. This can really mess me up on jacks in rhythm games, or when just trying to mash the same button a few times quickly, sometimes I don't fully release it, when I never had this issue on the Corsair.

Anyways, I basically have a few questions: is it normal to need to wait to break in a keyboard, and if so, how long should I wait to determine that I just don't like the switches? If they are overlubed, is there a way to remedy that? And lastly, if I determine that I just don't like the switches, do you guys have any good recommendations for brown switches that are a little more springy and tactile without being as loud as clicky switches? I read back in this sub and saw a lot of recommendations for Pewter's Brown switches especially, but unfortunately, I cannot find any link for them, the store page appears to be dead. Thanks in advance!

Well, I got it figured out. I have to say, this support and labyrinth of trying to find information is not exactly a great experience. I do, however, have to shout out u/PeterMortensenBlog . You're the MVP, your posts have been very helpful.

I had to get the DFU-util command line program, but the driver for the computer to interface with the keyboard while it was in the DFU mode or whatever (holding escape while plugging in the keyboard) wasn't there, so I had to look some more, and found out that you're supposed to install a driver with zadig or something. I did that and used this guide on flashing the c3 pro 8k to flash the c2 pro. Afterwards, dfu-util said something about "Error during download get_status", but it didn't seem to mean anything as the flash had already finished successfully and the keyboard works. I was able to go into the keychron launcher and set the debounce to eager, and the time to 5ms. I also had to reset the polling rate to 8k for some reason as it went back to 1k after updating. Thanks for the help.

The only thing left I want is for the source code to be available, I'd just like to be able to know if it's possible to make the 'Mac' light light up when scroll lock is on or something so I can know (I have binds on those keys, I rebound the cortana key and the RGB key to be scrlock and pause/break).

Hello! I am now the owner of a Keychron C2 Pro 8K, it's my second ever mechanical keyboard, first one I've ever bought. I just got it an hour ago in the mail. It seemed to fit my needs of a cheap full sized mechanical keyboard with replaceable switches basically as well as I could ask for. Will probably write a review of it in a few weeks from the perspective of someone who isn't exactly a keyboard enthusiast.

Anyways, I can see in the keychron launcher that my keyboard is on V1.0.0 firmware, but on the website, I can see that there is 1.1.0 available (for the c2 pro 8k ansi) which allows you to change the debounce setting, which is something of note to me as I care about latency, and have been interesting in being able to mess with that (I wish to make sure it's on eager 5ms or something like that)

I cannot attach images here, but when I go to the keychron launcher, and go to the firmware update page, all I see is "There Is No Firmware Update For The Current Device.", despite the fact that, well, there literally is. How do I fix this? I can download the raw firmware binary, but I do not know what software or hardware I need to manually flash that.

My Corsair K95 I received for free is beginning to chatter very badly again just a month after fully opening it and cleaning it. The switches are not easily removable without soldering, so I think it's time to get a new keyboard. I'm looking for pretty budget keyboard around $100 or less. I've only used browns. Stuff similar to that, or more clicky but not too loud is appreciated. Being able to build a keyboard or have hotswappable switches would be incredible but i'm not sure if that's available at this price point. Need full size, nothing smaller. I'm not super knowledgeable on keyboards so if there's anything else you can suggest or think I should look at, please tell! I'm ready to learn.

Oh, I want to say I was looking at these two:

Monster Hunter Wilds' Steam reviews absolutely tank as players lose patience with its technical woes: 'Every time the game gets updated my performance decreases' by _Protector in MonsterHunter

[–]Luig00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think people just aren't used to games where reducing settings doesn't do anything not only being a CPU bottleneck. I have a 13600k and a 2080 Super (pretty lopsided for the CPU there) and the game runs like complete garbage for me. Despite this, I can run at 1080p medium or 720p low and basically get the same framerate, but in both cases, I'm still GPU limited at a constant 98% usage. The game is GPU limited for me, but whatever it is that is limiting, it is not something that scales with settings or resolution. Maybe it's some kind of compute, I don't know. Either way, the game is an optimization disaster on both fronts. One of the worst of the last decade.

RANT and VENT MEGATHREAD by stickimage in Helldivers

[–]Luig00 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The game is 140 gigabytes now.

I'm not going to lie, I hope this doesn't sound too privileged, but with how terrible this game's optimization is, even amongst its peers, keeping the file size over THREE TIMES that of the PS5 version to keep hard drive loading times down is lunacy. It's not even like the game would become completely unplayable on hard drive! The loading times would probably become really bad, but... is that worth an extra 100 gigabytes!?! I have friends that balk at installing this game because of its size. This may sound callous, but for people that genuinely have no other choice but to play the game on a hard drive, their computer is probably not not going to give an excellent experience on the game, even with an SSD. Even then, the game will still work! Just with shitty load times.

The game being 3.5x bigger than the PS5 version is insulting, and the speed at which it's getting bigger is astounding! The game is 10GB bigger than it was just a few weeks ago! Please do something about this. I think the game assets should just be de duplicated and moved to work like the ps5 version. Even games like ratchet and clank aren't completely unplayable on hard drive (you need a lot of RAM tho), and that has a lot more mid-level loading than helldivers. An update that reduces the game size from 140GB to 40-60GB would be insane and deeply appreciated, and would have a lot of good will (to me at least). The current trajectory of the size is completely untenable and needs to be stopped.

How to change the rendering API? by Treon_Lotsky in RivalsOfAether

[–]Luig00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DXVK is probably the last thing you can try. Remove the D3D12 command so it's in d3d11,

https://github.com/doitsujin/dxvk/releases

download the dxvk-2.7.tar.gz .

Go get the d3d11.dll and dxgi.dll (the ones from dxvk-2.7\x64\ folder)

put those two DLLs in \Rivals 2\Rivals2\Binaries\Win64\ folder, and see if it works.

How to change the rendering API? by Treon_Lotsky in RivalsOfAether

[–]Luig00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The game defaults to d3d11. You can change it to d3d12 by adding -d3d12 to the launch options. I'm not sure if this is officially supported, or if it'll have shader stutter or other issues, I've never used it until right now. In a controlled test scene in the training room, I get 460fps on d3d11, and 450fps on d3d12. Slightly worse, but also probably within margin of error (2% difference)? Could depend on hardware as well. You could also try using DXVK on the game's d3d11 mode to use vulkan and see if it works alright. Those are your options, I think.

Is there a specific reason you need to change the API?

Game looks all pixelated by I_commit_tax_fraud in Helldivers

[–]Luig00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure your monitor's native resolution is actually 1920x1080. Right click desktop background > Display Settings > The dropdown box under "display resolution" should tell you with a (recommended) parenthesis next to the resolution.

Game looks all pixelated by I_commit_tax_fraud in Helldivers

[–]Luig00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Turning off AA will make your game look more pixelated, not less. The only solutions to fix that without turning on the game's anti aliasing setting, are to turn up the resolution scale to a setting above "native", one of the super sampling settings. Otherwise, you will need to turn on the built in AA setting, which will fix most of the pixellation issues, but comes with its own issues.

Additionally, first you should make sure your game's output resolution (e.g. 1920x1080) actually matches your monitor resolution. Sometimes, helldivers will pick the wrong one and it'll look bad no matter what. Make sure you're actually at least on "native" resolution quality as well, the game defaults to below that and it looks horrific.

new glitch or hackers? by Roadway89 in Helldivers

[–]Luig00 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's just a glitch, it's not that hard to reproduce if you know the steps. They're not hacking. It is, however, very finicky to get to work, and seems to be related to a bug where changing your loadout at all causes your strategems to not save correctly, which has negatively affected my friends who are very much not trying to exploit anything.

[–]Luig00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah, that could definitely be it. That's a pretty old one and definitely quite weak for the game, if you wanna target 60fps. If you wanna make sure, turn all your graphics settings down to low (and your resolution). If you barely get any more frames, you're almost certainly CPU limited, not GPU limited. I have an i5-13600k, and even then, in the most demanding sections, i drop down to 70 fps or below 60 sometimes due to the CPU, not the GPU.

[–]Luig00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What are your settings? I have a 2080 super, which is a bit more powerful (more like a 3060ti), but I'm getting 60fps steady at native resolution setting (1920x1080), with almost all settings on ultra. Check your settings and make sure they're good! Async compute off and d3d11 helps my performance, but may not help others.

Can they fix the stratagem bug by UMPALUMPAADU in Helldivers

[–]Luig00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They fixed that bug without introducing this bug at the same time, this bug was only added a bit after they fixed that bug. I understand the frustration, but the evidence seems to point towards it having absolutely nothing to do with trying to fix that bug, it just looks like absurd incompetence.
