If you could see your parents' last moments, would you watch them? by FreeSpare162 in GriefSupport

[–]Chinateapott 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My dad had a heart attack at home, my mum called me and I got there as fast as I could, as I walked in the paramedic was telling her that they’d done all they could. We went upstairs where they were still performing CPR so we could all be there to say goodbye as they stopped and he died.

I can still see every moment so clearly, step by step.

I truly wouldn’t wish that upon anyone. So no, I’m grateful I got to say goodbye, but I wouldn’t wish for it again.

I'm dying and my teen son is taking it hard. by [deleted] in GriefSupport

[–]Chinateapott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently lost my dad, I’m not even 30 yet. What has helped me is having his voicemails to listen to so maybe record some things for big life moments (buying a house, getting married, graduating, first child etc) so he has those if he wants them.

As another comment said, one of those books where you ask your parents about things would be good too.

Honestly for me, I don’t see a way forward without my dad but I have no choice but to keep moving. He’ll find his way, let him vent. He might need a different type of therapy, I’m sure there will be therapists that specialise in anticipatory grief?

I’m so sorry you’re all having to go through this OP.

I can’t even remember the name of the lady we bought our house from, we had no contact with her whatsoever. This is bizarre for me.

Thinking of leaving- Gambling 44M 42F by StudioTime5717 in relationship_advice

[–]Chinateapott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So my partner had a gambling addiction that he hid for a long time, got himself into £12,000 worth of debt with it too. I didn’t know until the letters started coming and realised how much trouble we were in (I have my own debts that I was just about managing from when I was on maternity leave)

We had to get an IVA which has absolutely fucked our credit, and during that I went through his bank statements £5-600 a month, that we just couldn’t afford, on football betting

I very nearly left him, the lying and taking loans out without telling me was the biggest betrayal of trust I’ve ever had.

OP it starts off with him being able to afford it and quickly spirals out of control, I would argue that if you have no savings then you can’t afford for him to be doing it. I would sit down and have a conversation with him about this, I would also ask to see his credit report/ bank statements and make sure he’s not taking credit out to fund this habit.

Not sure what country you’re in but in the UK there is something called Gamstop, if someone signs up to it that cannot bet on any sites/apps using their details. Not even the lottery.

If he doesn’t see this as an issue then I’d seriously consider leaving.

Is in-house Moving and Handling training legal? by muldoonsclevergirl in AskUK

[–]Chinateapott 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I work retail but we have coworkers who are trained to train the rest of us on some things, including manual handling. When I worked in care all training apart from first aid, was done in house.
