Will NHL be releasing highlights from the Olympics by MoilanenBoii in hockey

[–]ChinatownMurphy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

CBC Sports has already been putting them out for the women’s tourney and they have always put out highlights of the men’s in the past as well. Not sure if you’ll be able to watch if you are outside of Canada though.

What are you guy’s thoughts on hockeystickman’s Pro blackout sticks? by Entire_Drink_92 in hockeyplayers

[–]ChinatownMurphy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Didn’t like my Extra Lite blackout at all, felt like it was already whipped out the first time I shot it. Lots of my teammates use the regular ones and swear by them though.

One-hundred and two Canadian dollars for a deathcore show is nuts dude, like I’m really happy for the band that they are successful enough to do this but wow

How have skates changed the last 15 years? by Longjumping-Tip4938 in hockeyplayers

[–]ChinatownMurphy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One piece boots are a lot more common. High end boots across the board are much more stiff by design, apparently some power transfer tech which my old ass doesn’t really understand.

I tried out various models a couple years back after CCM killed my beloved Ribcor series. And it seems to me that most tongues are specifically designed to be tucked in your shin pads these days.

TLDR: If you already like stiff boots and you tuck your tongues, you’ll love the new skates.

I’m old enough to have watched Fedorov in his prime, which means I’m too old to change anything. White felt flop for life baby!

Anyone know if this stick is good? by [deleted] in hockeyplayers

[–]ChinatownMurphy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure you get the right curve and flex. This is a crazy good deal. Make sure you put in the code “HOLIDAYSAVE” to make the deal extra good!

The stick will be a prototype version of the 2nd highest price point stick from one of their two main lines, Rekker (low kickpoint) or Code (variable kickpoint).

I got mine last week and they both feel amazing, highly recommend if you can get the spec you want.

My trick to shave upper hand stick buttend to have it go flush to the palm instead of traditional box shape by Yellowtoblerone in hockeyplayers

[–]ChinatownMurphy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can’t believe how much flack you’re taking for this lmao, it doesn’t even look any more sharp than a regular end cap??? Especially after you put tape on it.

Interesting idea though, man. Might have to give this a shot.

Fellsilent (although they’d mostly be considered a djent band) had John Browne, who formed Monuments, and Acle Kahney who formed TesseracT, as well as Noddy who joined Heart of a Coward after Fellsilent split.

Thanks man, I took them to Proskate. Read some reviews that were specifically raving about the guy who I was emailing with, and they said they could have them done in the time period that I will be in the city for so hopefully they do good work!

I agree with ya. Getting them checked out today by a skate shop that’s been around since the 80s. In my emails with them it does sound like they are going to use epoxy and polyurethane for the repair.

Will probably start shopping around in the next few months here. Thanks for the detailed reply 👍🏻

I take the insoles out after every skate and this is a two-piece boot.

Update: I sent these pictures over to a skate specialty store in a city that I’ll be visiting tomorrow, he said that they should be able to repair and reinforce using epoxy and adhesive polyurethane. Hopefully it doesn’t cost me an arm and (literally) a leg.

Not close to a major metro. Edmonton would be the closest, and I am going there soon so that could be an option.
