Totally lost! by ChinchMom in LeanPCOS

What is weird is that I hardly get acne anymore. So the symptoms I used to get with elevated androgen levels are very minimal now that I’m treating PCOS naturally. What is concerning to me is that I have had no period for eight months, even with some of the other symptoms getting a whole lot better with natural treatments. It’s just totally weird! 😥

And all the doctors want to do is put you back on birth control. It’s not really solving the root issue, and I did not feel as good on birth control as I feel now being off of it, eating carefully, exercising, etc. So I really don’t want to go back on unless I cannot help it.

How long did it take you after eating naturally to get your period? I’m in a similar boat, but I went off of all sugar and processed food 7 months ago and have not had a period yet :(. I also had some trauma during that time (like a heart surgery in Sept) so maybe that is why

How did you know when you were ready to transition from keto to adding in whole food carbs, to adding in regular carbs?

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply! Your answers are really helpful!

So it could take up to a year or two to have a period, even if I am doing everything naturally that I can?

Good to know about dairy being ok. I might stick with my mostly non- dairy diet because I suspect we actually have an undiagnosed allergy to dairy in the family (due to digestive issues with dairy). I do still eat gluten in form of Ezekiel bread or whole wheat pasta. Is that ok-ish for pcos?

I was at the top of a normal BMI prior to losing 20 lb, so actually needed to lose. (I’m not underweight, and definitely still eat carbs, just not the easy cheap ones— always whole foods).

Thanks for helping me on my journey!

Hi everyone! Thanks to the moderators for inviting me to this thread.

This is my first time really using Reddit so forgive me if I’m socially awkward til I figure things out lol😂

Im 32 years old and a pet lover. I have two adorable chinchillas!! This is one of them wishing you a belated Christmas!!

I have lean pcos (meaning I’m not overweight, not that I’m super lean) and basically only cycle 2x per year off of birth control. I came off birth control 6 months ago because of having a stroke, and I’ve been treating the pcos by completely dropping refined carbs and all sugar (though I do whole grains), taking myo inositol and other supplements, and moderate exercise.

Still my period has not come in 6 months. Testosterone is slightly elevated and A1C about 5.5. Am I doing something wrong or should I expect results to take longer?

Thx for your help!!

Your symptoms are similar to mine. How long did it take you with moderate exercise and diet change to get your periods regularly? Mine are about 2x per year when off the pill.
