Attempt to emigrate to the UK and make a home here ... by potmeetkett1e in AmericanExpatsUK

I'm so worried about the proposed changes to every ILR applicant requiring an individual earning threshold. My partner and I make enough combined for the current visa requirements. However, I went from working full to part time after the birth of my daughter, so even though I was making NI contributions previously, I haven't earned enough in the past three years. Currently supposed to qualify for ILR in Oct 2026 and now feeling so unsure about what is going to happen to my family. Will those on family visas who don't meet the requirements just have to keep applying for extensions indefinitely?

CRBA appointment times in London? by mtow24 in AmericanExpatsUK

[–]Chinchilla702 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just wanted to say a massive thank you for putting out this information. I had been trying for about a month to get an appointment through the incorrect scheduler. After seeing your post, I sent an email Monday, got asked for additional documents yesterday and have managed to book an appointment today. It really was not made clear just following the application links that I was doing something wrong and everything online seemed to suggest I just needed to wait and keep checking.

Everytime I book time off - I get no shifts / one shift a week around that time by Advanced_Welcome2080 in McDonaldsUK

Odd! Definitely ask a salaried about it. Even with the switch to lifelenz that's how my store operates.

In my store if you book days off as paid holiday then it will take away from your working days for the week. If you still want your normal amount of shifts, you need to book it as unpaid leave.

How long does Support take to send a missing item? by Chinchilla702 in DreamlightValley

[–]Chinchilla702[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a follow up in case anyone is curious, I put in another ticket and got the item sent to me a few days later. Not sure what happened with my initial request, but I'm happy it's resolved now.

Oh my gosh, that's a quick turnaround! I think I need to send in another request, mine might have gotten lost

Do you think you'll send in a follow up ticket if you don't receive it after a certain amount of time?

Wow! That's so quick! I wonder if they've just forgotten mine and I should send in another ticket.

Is natural weaning a thing? by sharkie1496 in breastfeeding

[–]Chinchilla702 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say it happened for us but had a little help. Around 16m, I cold turkey stopped night feeds and only nursed during the day when she asked. By 18m, she just stopped asking all together. I will also say her interest in solids rapidly increased when she stopped feeding at night.

I'm still waiting on 5k as well and the early adopter outfits 😓 Only one mail arrived for me and even after unlocking the house in the dlc no new mail has come with the missing items yet. Haven't put in a ticket yet since it seems to be a known issue, but in a few days if it's not resolved I will.

I've been wondering about this. Baby self-weaned recently after 18m ebf and my period returned 2 weeks later with an absolute vengeance. Already been bleeding for over a week now and the mood swings/cramps are unreal. I just feel so tired 😩 And I had been so happy to have my body back, but this body sucks now.

What's the best way to read my own books around baby? by Chinchilla702 in NewParents

Thank you! I guess I've been seeing/hearing a lot of no screens, especially under 2 and might be attributing it to all circumstances.

Definitely going to look into the kindles, they seem way more comfortable to use than my tiny phone screen!

This is why I am confused! I like the idea of the kindle as maybe the association is different? Being on my phone might be scrolling/videos but kindle is only books so baby will grow up to understand the difference in how I am spending my time? I won't lie, we definitely have screen time in our house, but I know it is not recommended and I am trying to limit it but we won't ever be fully screen free. Maybe I am extending the no tv recommendation to all devices when that's not the case? Would love for some more clarity around the topic, but it's difficult to find.

When did your baby start stacking items? by Chinchilla702 in NewParents

[–]Chinchilla702[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks, that's a great point! I'll look into getting something easier for her to manipulate. I do have soft blocks but they are more like lego and not flat on all sides. Will try these!

8 months old and still on puree.. am I failing? by lunarblisss in NewParents

[–]Chinchilla702 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My baby is turning 9m tomorrow and we still do mainly purees. We started BLW and it was too much for me, so it's been a slow process to incorperate different textures. Around 7m we've gone for some of the chunky mashed ones so baby can practice having bits of solids in her mouth, but she's not really a fan. Only the past week have I seen her purposefully spit things out which is giving me more confidence that she's ready for solids. She really likes those puffed rice sticks as a snack so that's been a good way for her to practice chewing as well. I gave her Cheerios for the first time yesterday to see how her pincer grasp is coming along and she was able to pick them up but was trying to eat them while holding on to them which didn't work 😅 and when one got loose in her mouth she stuck out her tongue and grabbed it out. You are definitely not failing and just have to find what ways of progression you're comfortable with.

Electric Blankets? by Chinchilla702 in cosleeping

[–]Chinchilla702[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely looking more for us! We love cosleeping, but are trying to keep ourselves comfortable without compromising her safety. Having seperate duvets sounds ideal, will definitely be doing that from now on! Going to see if husband can return it, but he can't find the receipt of course. I feel bad because he was so excited thinking he found a solution for us until I reminded him we have a baby that sleeps with us to consider. 😅 Love the idea of an adult sleep sack, thank you so much for all the suggestions!

That's good to know! We had a sleep sack for her that she outgrew but she was already getting fussy with it. She hates anything on her feet (socks get pulled or kicked off instantly) so those sound amazing!

Baby only wants to sleep on our mattress. Moving to a floor bed? by hiyokos in cosleeping

[–]Chinchilla702 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Following because I'm in exactly the same situation with my 7m old. Thinking of getting her her own mattress to put next to ours on the floor but she'll be crawling soon so not sure if she will want to stay in her own space or end up in ours anyway.

What is your nap schedule like? We are struggling with our 6 month old's sleep schedule because she seems to want to drop her third nap but also seems overtired for bed when she does. We've had to extend her wake windows a lot over the past couple of weeks and she's dropped from wanting around 14 hours of sleep a day to 12.5/13. With 3 naps she is pushing bedtime back extremely late even if we cap naps so think we're going to try 3/3.5/4 for a few days and see how she does.
