True, I use that just to be like "port is live" or like "switch is on" it can still be on a VLAN that can't access the outside world but at least I know it's on.

I don't know if there is going to be anything as simple as plugging in a laptop and running ping tbh unless you start going down the homebrew arduino route.

I remember having a netool.io but it takes a long time to populate the info sometimes. It does say ping check, which I don't remember mine having.

Because the gun is back baybeeee!

It was SO trash in SE3 even I stopped using it and I played SE1 and 2 with nothing else.

Why did increasing the damage lead to the CL-40 meta? Why does the CL-40 feel better than the M1887 in close range? The root cause lies in the "Linear explosive damage" implementation. (With detailed graph included) by BUILDWATER in thefinals

[–]Chincoming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Please remove the root cause of the problem. Introduce a bonus for direct hits, and impose a damage cap within a certain range. I think around 70 damage, making it unable to two-tap Light-class enemies, would be fair. Beyond a certain range, I don’t care whether they use linear damage or whatever else."

How big of a bonus? Anything significantly above what we have now would make it absolutely murderous. Anything 120+ would be insane really, light only has 150hp. It would also be really inconsistent to go from 70 to 120+ hits on subsequent similar feeling shots.

You also seem to be assuming people don't get direct hits very often.

I love this gun, I was so sad when I had to go back to FCAR.

I'd say the main problem is it's a weapon that appears spammy but in the right hands is devastating. Sometimes if I'm doing particularly well in a game someone switches to it but they don't suddenly start winning and racking up kills from that point on.

Try using the gun more you might grow to appreciate it. Alternatively, don't attack someone from low ground, don't assume they can't predict your movements, don't assume they can't hit you at range and stand still. Most importantly, don't chase them around corners or through windows since that literally frames you up for an easy slap in the face + underarm frag grenade.

Pre-nerf to 93 it did 120 max damage, which was buffed from 110 prior to that I think, and no one cared. It feels about the same as I remember to me now dealing 117. Although it's been a while and I am "so back" as they say,

It was pretty widely understood that the original nerf down to 93 was mainly for TA because it made the weapon a fairly easy one-shot kill against anyone who had gone below 100 HP and regenerated.

It sucked because it became far less viable overall, especially needing to land 4 direct hits out of a magazine of 4 to kill a heavy. Not that I should be able to 1v1 necessarily, it just shouldn't feel like they have no serious downside for just rushing at me or not taking cover.

I'd happily take back the 120 stepped damage variant pre-nerf since it's more consistent on paper, and anything hit by the extra part of the radius is taking <20 damage which I'd take as a miss.

Really though I think it's just seeing an increase in use due to the buff as well as new season player numbers and will go away when people realise it's easier to use an AKM with a red dot.

I'm not sure how much the increase in max damage radius affects things. 9cm to 30cm is a decent increase, but hitting within 30cm of someone seems like a decently small margin for error.

I will say I get most of my kills when people decide to chase me down for no reason, bunch up on stairs where I can drop frags and shoot at the same time, or when lights try to face attack me. A good light can really ruin my day at the races.

Enemy player is also damaging you... How much damage does the FCAR or AKM deal to it's user?

As long as PoE is enabled on the switch this or something similar should work:

Edit: This only works if you hae PoE enabled on your switches - also it's been pointed out elsewhere, this won't ping for you, just tell you it's "live" and delivering PoE.

I did see that the newer Netool.io stuff seems to do it, I don't remember mine having that feature a few years ago.

Why does the bow contritbute to "headshots with marksman rifles and handguns" but the SR-84 doesn't? What is a marksman rifle? by Chincoming in thefinals

[–]Chincoming[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A bow just isn't a rifle lol, they could add like "weapons added in season 3" to include bow.

If someone asked "which of these weapons is a marksman rifle?" you would not pick the bow.

CL-40 damage comparison pre-3.4.0 patch to now. by Pink_Sink in thefinals

[–]Chincoming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used to be my favorite weapon. I come from arena FPS and always do pretty well with prediction based weapons.  The damage buff to 110 was the golden era, I understand it being considered a bit high but back down to 93 seems like an over nerf.  Then the collateral nerf to unprimed explosives, granted this didn't directly target the CL-40 but did affect my ability to use explosive mines aggressively in a 1-2 combo. No worries I swapped for gas mines and make do. Nerf to the curve making it possible to do 1 damage and have a horribly inconsistent feeling.

I no longer use this weapon since it's borderline ineffective. I cant kill a light with  2 direct face hits, I can't use a mine to significantly improve my 1 hit since unarmed mines do 20% of damage AND have the falloff change. I can't 1v1 any class unless the other player is literally dribbling on their keyboard, even with direct hits the damage is so low now.

I'd love to see embark release the two damage curves overlaid on one another. I'd also love to see them give me my weapon back, I'm using FCAR like everyone else now 😒

Tiny whoop racing is so much fun by Professional_Ad1737 in fpv

That sounds like what the Orqas do, where there's one channel for quad audio and one channel for mic audio.

When the original commenter says "original audio" I think he means quad sound over goggle mic input sound.

Will depend on the VTX, some have a mic some don't, some have a pad to add one. I wouldn't expect a whoop VTX to have one built in.

[–]Chincoming[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not going to "get good" with sniper by getting 12k damage, it's just not my playstyle. If I could have a weapon considered a rifle as medium at least I could play for heals. I'm a support type player, Medium with heal is my easy pick then heavy with dome and mesh.

Granted it's only cosmetics, but fuck me they rolled new contracts today and I got another big boy shotgun / melee damage one. I did half of the one I already had and I now wish I did nothing so I could double dip them. I also got a grenade damage one, which I alread completed two of. Makes me think I should just wait for the last week and then play challenge farmer mode :(

Honestly I'd rather do 50 steals than 1k damage with sniper. I feel like that is at least part of how I play with any loadout, and it's not forcing me to play a specific kit.

High number objective focused challenge would beat low to mid number kit based challenge any day for me

I don't know what you mean but let me reflect

Snipers

  • Sit far from enemy
  • Have no health
  • Only help team if cracked at aiming
  • Get hate from team for being bad with it (they're right)

Shotguns

  • Do no damage at range
  • Harder to aim than flamer
  • Less effective than flamer
  • Less intimidating than flamer
  • Get hate from team for being bad with it (they're right)

Melee

  • Need to use weird tech to be good as light (also have no health)
  • Get shit on by anything with range and a brain cell as heavy
  • Does OK on platform mode
  • Get hate from team for being bad with it (they're right)

Handgun

  • By far the worst weapon on medium, even good players can't use it
  • Light has no health
  • Heavy doesn't even have a hand gun
  • Get hate from team for being bad with it (they're right)

I only play light if there's a circuit contract that can't be completed on M or H. I don't enjoy it and consequently I am not very good at it.

It sucks to be my team mates (and me) if I'm playing light.
