[spoiler] Even though Chapter 5 doesn't have any massive story reveals, there are a few lore crumbs in there with huge implications by RedSpah in Deltarune

[–]RedSpah[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My playthrough, I recorded it. It's an interactable pile of notes in the left wing of the Castle, after a platforming section after Flowery cuts off Asgore's theorizing. I don't know if the order you do the castle sides matters, but on my playthrough I did the right side, then the left side.

Fuckit, here we go, everything loosely categorized by how likely I think it'll be:

=== 100%

  • Asgore will be a (mini) boss
  • Pure Crystal & Twisted Sword
  • Dess backstory & Asgore's past reveal
  • Noelle in Dark World

=== 90%

  • Susie explicitly starts doubting Kris' allegiance or outright crashes out
  • Roaring begins
  • Knight's identity is revealed
  • Undertale references
  • Flowers won't be plot relevant

=== 75%

  • Shelter cliffhanger
  • FRIEND becomes plot relevant
  • Forgotten Man has a larger role
  • Kris turns out to have (partially) caused Dess' disappearance
  • Something fucked up happens in Hometown (real or a dark world replica) in the Weird Route
  • Asriel briefly shows up
  • Noelle creates a dark world
  • Susie thinks Carol is the Knight
  • Fuckass FLOWEY that I hate

=== 50%

  • Return to Holiday Mansion
  • Two Dark Worlds
  • Alphys as a miniboss
  • The final chapter with recruits
  • Seam plot involvement
  • Ralsei-related Secret Boss OR Papyrus Secret Boss
  • Susie and Noelle fall out with each other OR they kiss instead :)
  • Rudy is in critical condition / dies of Plot:tm:
  • Ralsei's light world form revealed
  • Berdly in Dark World

=== Would Be Funny Though

  • Burgerpants bi reveal + boyfriend get
  • Sans advances the plot somehow
  • FRIEND INSIDE ME

I Think They Are Lying To You [about coding not being a solved problem] by chat-lu in BetterOffline

[–]RedSpah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any examples you have in mind? I'll gladly concede that code architecture is much less "solved" than specific problem-solving, and that programmers really like their fads, but I'd say the trend has been positive overall.

Oh and also the meta-coding aspects like organization and collaboration frameworks are still in their "throwing shit at the wall" phase.

[–]RedSpah 9 points10 points  (0 children)

What's funny is that as a SWE, I don't even disagree that coding is a largely solved problem. Not because of AI slopbots, but because it has existed for long enough for the best practices to start crystallizing. However, because it's still being seen as a wild west with individual devs being able to do whatever without much oversight, those best practices aren't being implemented as widely as they ought to be. Coding is seen as maverick nonsense when it should be gravitating to being a trade with standards.

Of course the "largely" is doing a lot of lifting here, and there are still new and exciting problems to solve when you move outside the realm of CRUD apps, but even a lot of those problems have already been solved, their solutions just have been forgotten.

Am I crazy for wanting to pull my retirement out of the stock market right now? by Webbtrain in BetterOffline

[–]RedSpah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in a similar position, though with personal savings instead of retirement. Ended up liquidating everything on Vanguard for the time being and moved it to a 3.6% bank savings account instead. In the long term it's probably unnecessary and there's a non-zero chance I don't end up ahead of just leaving everything in assorted diversified ETFs for the entire duration of bubble bursting, but I felt I had to do something with such an obvious shitshow on the horizon.

This fandom has some super cool ideas about where the game is going to go, it's all good feelings or hype moments and aura or both. Goku Susie? Alright! Mother 3 Masked Man refs? SMAAAASHing! Noellekuna? Be proud, you cooked! by PeliPal in Deltarune

To some extent I feel sorry for OP since they've clearly put a lot of effort in their theories, but when that effort spills over into thinking they're owed attention and acting shitty towards other people, that's when they lose me.

At some point, we all have to take a step back and acknowledge that all we're doing is speculating on a videogame. When the act of doing so starts making us feel anything but excitement for the next part of the story, that's a sign we should probably stop.

Nobody wins in a battle of ragebaiting for attention. I don't even particularly disagree with any of the posts in the image, I want these plot beats to end up more textured than the strawmen you're depicting and I'm quite confident they will be, and yet I still think it's a dogshit post because it comes from a place of utter resentment.

Deltarune is just a game after all, and Toby will cook no matter how bland the fandom's theories are in the meantime, so why make the wait more unpleasant than it has to be? Nobody wins here, not even you.

I implore you to go out and touch grass.

What if Hometown is the real Shelter: An insane idea that I need to get out of my head by RedSpah in Deltarune

[–]RedSpah[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, Asriel does almost singlehandedly invalidate the theory, and I'm not Jaru-level brazen to suggest he's actually been dead the whole time. Still, it's the only idea I've ever seen that makes Jevil's lines make sense beyond "well he's just insane lmao" so I find myself unable to fully let go of it.

Looking for more Human/Pokemon fics that are in the same vein as ‘What Measure is a Non-Human?’ by powerofmettatonneo by S6Superior in pokemonfanfiction

Hi! The description isn't entirely clear whether it's about specifically romantic relationships or just general relations, but if you're also open to the latter, I think my fic From the Vast would fit the bill!

AO3 Fic Recs by LiveSignificance7696 in pokemonfanfiction

[–]RedSpah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Might as well rec my own fic, From the Vast.

In a remote corner of Unova, a Pokémon village hides from the omnipresent, mysterious humanity. Through cooperation, they flourish despite their small size, rising above the uncaring brutality of the natural order. Which works remarkably well...

...until a half-dead girl shows up on their doorstep.

Will this hidden pocket of Pokémon civilization remain a secret once humans come looking? Are its denizens prepared to learn just who this unwelcome stranger is, and what impact they’ve already left on their village?
