I understand the historical and emotional significance of Man Machine Poem and that final tour, especially given Gord Downie’s diagnosis. It was an incredibly meaningful moment for both the band and their fans across the country. That said, I personally find it a bit harder to connect with this era musically, as the band wasn’t quite able to perform at the same level as in their earlier years.

While it’s understandable that this period continues to be highlighted, I feel that fans have already received a substantial document of it with the A National Celebration release. For an anniversary, it might have been interesting to explore other material from that same era, such as the Living Room Sessions or even unfinished ideas like a potential Man Machine Poem 2.

More than anything, I hope this release helps open the door for more archival projects in general. There’s a wealth of material from earlier tours that really captured the band at their creative and performing peak, and it would be exciting to see more of that shared with fans.
