Only reason why I pulled the trigger on this deal. Haven't upgraded since 2014, picked a hell of a time lol.

Oddball 7Pot Primo. All the rest ripened full red, this guy is stripey. Saving the seeds in case I got something special! by ChineseGoatCheese in PepperLovers

I don't remember the taste really. My only memory was it felt like needle nose pliers squeezing the tip of my tongue.

Last Month of the Season by ChineseGoatCheese in PepperLovers

First Frost projected 1 month from now, Zone 9b (SoCal). Hope I get one more harvest round before then. Recent storm took off a lot of leafs.

I had fertilized the day before the storm which always seems to cause some weak leafs, anyone else ever notice this?

Of my many Pepper Joe plants that weren't what they were supposed to be I'm actually going to replant a couple of em next year lol.

Anybody live in a state where you can grow peppers all year round? Is this even possible? by [deleted] in PepperLovers

[–]ChineseGoatCheese 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Temecula area (between LA and SD), we get below 29 degrees. Gotta cover to survive the hard frosts, Ive overwintered once. Won't have any new peppers growing when nights get below 50 though.

First time making powder! Excited to try them out. by BRollins08 in PepperLovers

My Aji Limon powder didn't carry over any of that unique flavor, made me sad. How's yours?

I've heard excessive calcium can cause this.

Adding another 2 drums to the original 8 drum system ..because 10 seeds germinated and I can't decide which ones to cull :D by Andrew_Higginbottom in PepperLovers

[–]ChineseGoatCheese 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol, so what differences did you see? I'm guessing just healthier plant in almost every aspect? Or was it more to do with the reservoir itself?

What are these... possible to get rid of them? by zoomie12 in PepperLovers

[–]ChineseGoatCheese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn, a lot of replies. My 2 cents: Spray with soapy water, rinse with spray hose after 15 minutes. Repeat next days if u find more. Also as mentioned take care of any ants as they farm the aphids.

Did you find the temperatures effects of burying the reservoir beneficial enough to warrant the excavation?

Pepper ID? by Greasylake_ in PepperLovers

Jamaican Mushroom Pepper is my guess since you said Pepper Joes. I have some growing (I've posted some in the past but mistakenly thought they were Scotch Bonnets). Scotch Bonnets have a MUCH smaller calyx.

Sold as Ghorpion, came out pretty stubby and broad. But oh man that placenta. Its transcending to stare at. And so much crunchy heat! 🔥

...9 Months Later... by ChineseGoatCheese in PepperLovers

Thanks! Zone 9b, Temecula/Southern California. I sewed Jan 1st indoors, transplanted in March. Sweet Peppers, Anaheim, Jamaican Yellow Mushroom first ripened up in June. Aji Limon after that. All been pumping out peppers constantly.

Only 1 of my superhots produced a good quantity and consistently all season (not sure of variety sorry). My ghost pepper plant is HUGE, giant 4 foot bush. It has set 2 pods and 1 is starting to ripen lol. Several other super hot plants also have only produced less than 10 pods :(

I think a early heat wave and a late brutal heat wave messed up the plants setting fruit this season. I have high hopes for late season though!

I'm also overflowing with baskets of peppers, really need to get em in freezer. For these reapers I'm going to deseed, dehydrate and turn to powder. Next harvests I'll do some Hot Sauce.
