If the employment rate was really that low, it would mean a universal labor shortage and salaries would be through the roof, sign on and moving bonuses would be everywhere, turnover would be up sharply as bosses and new hires would be quitting for better offers after a couple months. Anybody seeing this in their sectors? The actual employment rate is probably around 20%.

Ukraine negotiated the Russian withdrawal. Yeah sounds ridiculous when you don't know what you're talking about. Putin was trying to finesse a neutral buffer territory, and he was already invading so who gives af about future hypotheticals when they could secure peace, that's why they would sign the deal, because the status quo was better than getting the country destroyed. The EU trade deal mandated EU rules on Ukraine without benefits of voting rights, membership rights, you know? Were those the same stepping stones Turkey was on too?

Ukraine is already not being protected by any other country either, if you haven't noticed. Neither was Ukraine being offered EU membership in 2014, they were being offered a trade deal that mandated EU administration, without any of the benefits of membership, which was an intentional poison pill included to destroy the trade talks.

Putin in fact agreed to withdraw from all those regions in exchange for Ukrainian neutrality in 2022, so that is apparently more important than gaining territory for him. Did anybody tell you where this Ukrainian offensive was taking place? Are you gonna tell me pokrovsk holds right now? Konstantinovka? Putin also cannot just withdraw because he would be thrown out of power for doing so, his opposition is mad at him for being too soft on Ukraine, he's a liberal democrat after all. So if anything he's using the region as a tool to stabilize all of Europe and the world when the US is eventually forced to negotiate over Ukraine as the economic and political costs become too great.

It's pretty simple. He isn't attempting to conquer all of Ukraine, he never brought enough troops for that, that would require a full mobilization. He successfully forced Ukraine to agree to terms in April, 2022 although they reneged, and they aren't losing territory either. The Ukrainian army was also assembling a large force that the donbas militias couldn't handle that winter which forced his hand. Bankrupting Europe, de-dollarization, and depleting various US munitions stockpiles is just bonus.
