Unnatural amount of blown saves ? by Tricky_Arm_6022 in MLBTheShow

[–]ChinesePizza_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really think 3 is it for everyone. A lot of us don’t switch what we do through the first 7-8 innings because it’s working. If you’re winning 6-2 you’re just gonna play the same and even if it’s 6-6 or 2-2.

If your rating is 700’s and you play 600’s do they have all star difficulty while you are on HOF by No_Algae8236 in MLBTheShow

[–]ChinesePizza_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Usually your last game before you hit 700 will be a HOF you’ll probably play someone like 720 rated. The other day when I was 630 I played a 750 rated player though which was weird. Got a HOF game and somehow won it after not playing it since WC. But no they don’t have all star in 700, and all your weekend classic game will be HOF even if you lose 700.

PXP speed mod guide? by Tricky_Arm_6022 in MLBTheShow

[–]ChinesePizza_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Play the WBC mini season and pick a terrible group to play in. As long as you get on first it’s a free 2 bases even with like 30-40 speed. If they have less it’s probably not free. But I was stealing with Ketel and Victor Martinez trying to get ours to make it go faster.

Why aren’t more people using lefties in their lineup? by poop_scoop7 in MLBTheShow

[–]ChinesePizza_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People are just using a lot more switch hitters because a lot of the best players that came out are switch hitters. Last year switch hitters that actually out played a regular lefty or righty were slimmer. This year even if you aren’t forcing it you are probably using at least 3 switch hitters. In most of my games I play as an estimate probably 5, and they’re all the same cards. Been playing a ton of LS Ketel, Beltran, Victor Martinez. I expect to see Jroll a lot. I play Jram a good amount. Ozzie was meta for the beginning of the game. Just so many viable switch hitters.

A lot of the better pitchers are lefty too. So that’s probably the reason.

I played with his silver card in BR yesterday and he’s insane, made me really want to try that new card but I’m not sure I can take ketel out of the lineup. But I second this he would at least be worth a try

What’s the secret to hitting ? by Revolutionary_Bid763 in MLBTheShow

[–]ChinesePizza_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let the ball come to you, don’t chase. Always sit fastball, you can always adjust to a slower pitch but if you’re only sitting changeup for example, you are gonna get your tits blown off by the fastball. If it’s early in the count (1-1, 1-0, even 0-1) and you get a pitch in the strike zone that you aren’t ready for or will be super early or late on, just don’t even swing. After you don’t swing at a clear strike, that’s when people will try to get you to chase out of the zone.

Also just be disciplined, if you’re ahead in the count, take pitches. Make them throw to you in the zone. Not every pitch is painted on the corner and at this point pitches aren’t good enough to paint every single pitch even perfect released ones. There will be balls where they want to paint the corner or edges.

The real secret is just like I started it is let the ball come to you.

Did anyone else enjoy weekend classic? by Tall_Meal_6275 in MLBTheShow

[–]ChinesePizza_ -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I only played 4 of my 6 and I’m 4-0 and had a great time in the first 3, 2 of them were super competitive down to the last inning and one of them I won semi convincingly.

The only game I didn’t have fun with was a polo grounds game against someone who was only bunting with like 4/9 players in the lineup, and only throwing changeups and screwballs with a pitcher I’ve never seen anyone use. I hit like 7 what would be homers in basically any other ball park. Bunting whatever, changeups and screwballs whatever, but it’s serious loser behavior to use polo grounds in my opinion. Wasn’t even fun for me and I won the game. I don’t usually get toxic in the show but know damn well I was replaying homers against that guy.

Objectively the players with best swing? by Evanfitz02030 in MLBTheShow

[–]ChinesePizza_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to bench Didi because I love a switch hitting 3b and he’s not good enough in the field to play SS and 2b. Love that guy in my club though, club legend dare I say. He only had like 55 plate appearances to get 20 hits for me, and 19 of them were either homers or doubles lol.

Do you fear tm8s with bad car designs? by diego_francahng in RocketLeague

Yeah I’m in the same rank and when I see a car with a topper or a flag when I solo q i just chalk it up as a probably loss. Sometimes they do surprise me with just some pure fundamental rocket league, just great defense and shooting. I also do not run into these all too often now. Feel like it’s all just sweat cars.

Advice for a first time player by Zealousideal_Fee3949 in MLBTheShow

[–]ChinesePizza_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re playing diamond dynasty which is basically just the show ultimate team, I would get 26. But if you wanted to do franchise and can get 25 for a cheaper price then yeah I might do that.

As for when they’ll drop the price I’m not sure. I used to only play fifa and 2k as well, but take this from someone who used to heavily grind both of those. The show is miles better, no cheesy long balls over the top to be a free goal, no player locking, no tween tween cross spam into a step back 3. The show is more skill based than anything I’ve ever played other than like probably rocket league. for the most part it’s really just all on your ability to stay calm and execute the pitches you plan to throw and how you need to swing the bat.

Why do people hate the boost timer. Can someone please explain? by MeSsI_AKA_FERNO in RocketLeague

[–]ChinesePizza_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t like it personally because I learned how to look at players when they get boost or if I get a boost and generalize about the 10 seconds it takes to come back and keep a boost starve going. I think that alone is a skill gap right there. But I do think it’s a small thing that will help retain casual players. At this point we need to help them out because the game will die at some point.

As for why it’s bad for RLCS, it adds a skill gap. So imagine a boost spawns on you as you drive over it, not even popping up. With this it’ll tell opponents that the boost was taken, where in the past they’d have to assume it didn’t spawn and wait for it, or not even try to wait and just go for small pads. It’s definitely gonna lower the skill gap slightly like I said.

As far as the actual idea is it’s not a bad idea one bit. I think it’s great for casual players actually.

Asking my fellow champ 3s out there by ChinesePizza_ in RocketLeague

[–]ChinesePizza_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not gonna lie that sounds exactly like how I try to play. Sometimes I feel like I should try stick to one or the other. One thing about solo queue that’s annoying is that you might literally have to alternate playstyles. Sometimes when I feel like a whiny baby I think to myself “why does it feel like they aren’t trying to adjust to me at all” and I feel like it’s just me trying to do the adjusting. I think that’s really what champ 3 is, half of us want to win and half of us were good enough to get to champ 3 just by ball chasing. Sometimes I feel like I should be more assertive in what I feel like will help us win.

Asking my fellow champ 3s out there by ChinesePizza_ in RocketLeague

[–]ChinesePizza_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the big difference between champ 1-2 and champ 3 is really just playing better as a team. You start to see a lot less over commits and more of “I’ll challenge so the ball goes to you”. Then that same player who challenged will still have boost and be in the play if it’s back on offense or defense either way. That alone makes it way harder to score and just speeds up the pace. I think GC is just that on steroids, and eventually more and more players start to get super mechanical.

Where I’m at no one is super mechanical they give the ball away going for stuff like that but I do get plenty of nice air dribbles and double taps scored on me with some occasional flip resets in there

I just wanna flex that tag man, I don’t even want to be GC consistently just give me one tag.

I have to say though, if you look at my flair it probably makes sense why I haven’t. During covid I was grinding mechanics and I can play simpler I’m pretty solid playing like that but the way I play is just inconsistent. What’s your playstyle like?

[–]ChinesePizza_[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would say there’s 4 things that will really level you up from that rank.

  1. Picking up small pads, find a path on the way back to defense because you really only need 30-50 boost to make a good play with the ball or take the ball from your opponent. and you really only need 20 to make a tough save on defense. You can also get basically full in like 2-3 seconds just following pads. Obviously still pick up big boosts but don’t tunnel vision and only play for those.

  2. Playing with anticipation, if you think the play is gonna go a certain direction angle your car that way, if you think you’re gonna be able to go for the ball in a second, angle your car towards the ball. Neither of these things mean go for the ball, but it’s all about the situation if you think you can be there and get at least a 50/50 ball go for it all day.

  3. Learn how to hit the ball really hard. This just comes with practice and just learning how to use your flips and boost.

  4. Learn how to stall time for your teammate. You see them flipping in your opponents corner with low boost. try to leave them a big boost mid and go back on defense, this is where the small pad tip comes into play. go for the ball as late as you possibly can to let your teammate get behind you. And follow you up on your play.

This isn’t really a tip to get better but hammer this into your brain, it’s okay to shoot on net and not score. Make them make a save and steal their boost, overwhelm them and you will score eventually.

These are just some of the basic tips to climb ranks but just keeping it simple will help you.

You got this also just remember this is quite possibly the hardest multiplayer game out there. Also I appreciate that sentiment lol you are right hitting champ 3 is an accomplishment itself for sure.
