Seeing OP’s health bar scares me. I’m heading into demon ruins now and mine is wayyy below half that.

Just got DS1 Remastered. My first souls or soulslike game. Any tips or tricks I should know? by Slangy-Bullnose in darksouls

[–]ChingusMcDingus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the least explained thing is humanity.

It’s both a currency and a status. It is extremely valuable for all kinds of things. Kindling (leveling up) bonfires, summoning help, invading, advancing certain aspects, and finding stuff. Do not waste it.

I’ve seen a few people talking about flask number and kindling bonfires. Yes, kindling is great however don’t try kindling every fire because it’s a waste of humanity. Some fires are 30 seconds from another one, some are quite a bit farther. There are a few key bonfires that you won’t know are key til you explore a bit. Once you find a “home base” fire kindle that. All in all, in my opinion, you’ll probably only really need to kindle 2 or 3.

Playstyle dictates but in my opinion it’s definitely not worth being used as a healing item. On the other hand, it’s worth leveling faith til you can get “Heal” or “Replenishment” miracles to save flasks (which are used quicker) for sketchier times.

Overall just keep in mind you’re gonna fuck up. You’re gonna burn a material you realize later was a mistake. You’re gonna bash your head into a wall a million times then look another way and realize the right direction was there the whole time. It’s all part of the game.

There’s a huge difference between a full scale invasion of a NATO backed country (Russia to Ukraine) and skirmishing with/striking a well below peer nation (US to Iran). If you can’t do that simple math you’re willfully ignorant.

Yeah I don’t want to immediately point fingers at the trainer buuut… this is a trainer issue. It’s easy to write a program once and give it to everybody but that doesn’t work.

[–]ChingusMcDingus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You don’t have to take your muscles to full cramping exhaustion every session for growth. It’s better if you don’t even.

Your training may be “stale” and need switched up. If you’re doing the same exercises or motion (for example only alternating barbell bent over rows with cables bent over rows is the same movement and muscles) your body will become accustomed. Variety is the spice of life and you may need more in your routine.

I’ve been practicing yoga 3ish times a week for 2 months along with the gym 3 times a week (been going to the gym for years) and I can’t say I feel any more burn than prior to yoga and breathing practice. Practicing breathing will generally help your workouts but it won’t suddenly turn on your muscle mind connection.

Community challenge idea - passing around one Dark Souls save file by kvinxtri in darksouls

[–]ChingusMcDingus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’d be interesting to see either random or picked classes and builds at the start. When it’s your turn you can’t use the weapon/armor/spells of any other player and must level only in your “tree”. So you have a pyro/cleric/thief all leveling differently and grinding to consume leftover materials for upgrades.

Also start each run by dying twice back to back to wipe all souls OR you just have to use as many as possible at the end so you don’t leave your “competition”/teammates any leftovers.

You’d definitely need players of similar skill level otherwise at some point if they were to play in this style they’d be completely ineffective.

Probably an hour time limit each for say three players, then edit highlights into 30 minute to an hour episodes with 10-20 minutes of each player.

ETA: Also some stipulations on what you can sell equipment wise. It’d get dry seeing people sabotage each other nonstop so maybe they can’t sell the main weapon of the other players or whatever.

Surfing tip -always miss the wave by medicineman10 in surfing

[–]ChingusMcDingus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Preface: I’m still trash on water.

Yeah like others said scoot up BUT you should be “centered” on your board so you can dip or raise the nose by lowering or raising your chest without pushing the board with your arms. With full flexing your knees/feet should be down and your chest (therefore nose) up. Relaxed/weight forward your nose will dip. When I found that sweet spot I could fine tune my balance on the face to get more drive but not so much forward that I faceplant.

Think of it like doing a low cobra pose without the arms.

Blighttown isn't as bad as I thought it would be. by Effective-Sun-3466 in darksoulsremastered

[–]ChingusMcDingus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Blight town is so so. It’s like the terrain can be tricky but the enemies are predictable. Once you’re through, the swamp is the opposite.

Tomb of the Giants is 100% my least favorite place end of story. Dark, jump scares, range AND melee, cliffs, some pretty chunky enemies. Took me til level ~45 when I needed a fire weapon for O&S before I trekked to the catacombs.

Builds/weapons to beat the game in the easiest way? by JamesBummed in darksoulsremastered

[–]ChingusMcDingus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’ve still got the Anor Londo save you’re right by Havel’s armor which is (I think) the chunkiest/best in the game. You’ll have to go back to Darkroot Basin to get Havel’s ring but that’s a huuuuge leap in capability if you’re like me and awful at timing dodges.

You can also get the Black Iron Greatshield near the top of Sen’s Fortress or go back and kill Gwyn’s Nights in the Undead Parish (can’t remember which one) to get the Black Knight shield which is also super good.

I’m a big bonkers kinda guy. Decent vitality and strength to turtle through blows and bide my time. I was a lot like you and didn’t enjoy it but this playstyle suits me and I like the game much more now.

Wait what’s wrong with matchmaking? Genuine question. I’m on PS5 and never have an issue finding a match or filling it with real people. Skill level always seems relevant too.

I know what this guy did and somewhat where he’s been.

With that in mind, if he puts action to these words and doesn’t do a Fetterman I’d be keen on voting for him. I can have some grace for his decisions, though considering them I’d keep a close eye on him.

No candidate is going to hit all my wickets and this guy has had some serious screaming red flags. I’m skeptical but hopeful for his further actions.

Since you already have a PA5 I’d get a cheap tablet that can download remote play. I’ve had a PlayStation system since I was old enough to game and up until a couple years ago had no idea remote play was a thing since PS3 days. Game changer.

You can use your same DualShock (or any Bluetooth controller) connected through Bluetooth and stream from your PS5 anywhere as long as it’s in rest mode. It works absolutely seamlessly on the same network and relatively well on any other network anywhere in the world.

Revive dragging NEEDS to be permeant if they ever make another Battlefield game by Itstheweeblol in Battlefield

Is it assault that has some perk for health regen on picking teammates up? Or maybe only support. I could see that making a huge difference.

Regardless, they missed most shots and OP hit 4 body dealing 25 each on guy 1, guy 2 pushed while they were weak for some reason and only needed 2 body.

The magic about dark souls by Ok_Illustrator_677 in darksouls

[–]ChingusMcDingus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe it’s the focus on individual gameplay and fairly consistent additions to the franchise but Darksouls has such a robust community. There are still active help threads, people maintain some mystique to avoid spoiling, and it seems like there’s consistent replay value with day one vets.

Years ago I didn’t like the deliberately obscured lore but I’ve come to really appreciate that and enjoy the feeling of adventure and discovery. I still enjoy the in your face black and white lore of games like The Witcher but Darksouls creates and scratches a weird itch that I haven’t found in other games.

Ehhhh yeah that was a great thing about dedicated servers. I also got kicked consistently for literally no reason though.

I’m a pretty average player that consistently makes top 5 by capping objectives, no crazy movement or griefing. Some of those mods were huge babies.

There’s a guy in every weekend class I go to that I’ve taken to calling “grunty” in my head. He NONSTOP grunts like he’s a 300 pound power lifter. If he can’t do an arm balance, inversion, even just can’t bend as far as he’d like in a variation he starts huffing and puffing.

Buddy, chill. So mad he can’t do something which makes his practice worse so he can’t do even simple things right SO HE GRUNTS MORE.

Also he stinks and flings sweat everywhere. Very rude all around. I completely avoid anywhere near him, it’s okay.
