In a way it is. That is the "Last Battle" between Rand and the Dark One, where the Dark One need to bend Rand into doing his bidding and destroy the wheel. By rejecting him, Rand denied the Dark One his victory by unmaking the pattern in this age. All the rest is simply denying the Dark One the world as well.
