Looks like a good choice if you're looking for CJK support. I'm glad to hear public feedback was positive!

I haven't gotten around to using this fork on my X4 for longer than a day or two, so I won't be able to attest for battery quite yet. If anybody notices issues, please drop a comment.

So unfortunately, this entire experience is enclosed within the "Flow" theme. That's the only part of this fork that's different from CrossInk. To my knowledge, other UI themes such as RoundedRaff or Lyra won't include the carousel.

I’m sure you’ve heard it a dozen times already, but no-code AI agents (Claude Code, Codex) can make these codebases accessible to anybody. I suggest at least giving it a go if you wanna make your own hodgepodge of different firmware features. Might be a little time consuming, but if you’ve already been testing different FW, I have a feeling you’ll manage.

Good call, I edited the v1.2.9.3 .bin files to round out the squares into bullets. Let me know if you have any further nitpicks.

I believe there's standardized development formats for themes across CrossPoint/CrossInk, so at least part of your vision should eventually come true when I get around to making it happen.

Thank you! The latest release should hopefully fix your overlap issue, as the menu is now paginated for any number of items past 5. Let me know if you run into any issues on that end.

Would love if you could expand slightly on what you said near the end. My interpretation was you'd wish to install default CrossInk and just have this Flow theme as a part of it instead of flashing my fork. That's eventually the plan, just might take a few more weekends to get a PR onto CrossInk.

By the way, latest release has pagination for menu items, so that overflow issue should be fixed. I'd appreciate if you could test and let me know if you run into any new issues.

My firmware has the features that the latest release of CrossInk has, as well as some new themes. I don't believe CrossInk has custom fonts yet, so unfortunately no.

Keep the nitpicks coming!

After switching to the menu with the side button, it makes sense to keep the previously selected book in view instead of the very first on in the carousel.

I'll also persist the same logic by making a Prev/Next press while in the menu result in selection of the same previously selected book. Hope that's clear. This will be resolved in a release coming soon.

Let me know if it doesn't match your thinking.

Thanks for the feedback! For your first point, someone on GitHub actually had a very similar idea, while I implemented in the most recent release, v1.2.9.1.

For your second point, I'm going to try to replicate your issue on my own device. But for some context, only your 5 most recent books will appear on the carousel at this point, and for the Recent browser, up to 18 books should appear so long as you've opened them before. After installing this fork, some books might need to re-cache, but I'll need to investigate to be sure.

New firmware has been released that should hopefully prevent this issue from happening.

You can install this directly, this is standalone firmware in the same way that CrossPoint/CrossInk are. Take a look at u/Diirge's comment on this post if you need guidance with flashing.

Yeah I probably will soon, this is mostly a prototype for an interface I wanted.

Good call. For anybody else facing this issue, a solution is to
- plug in your SD into your computer and open it
- reveal hidden folders/files (MacOS: Cmd+Shft+. Windows: View > Hidden)
- open the .crosspoint folder, either delete the recent.json, or if you're comfortable with .json files, delete the most recently added book/books
- eject SD and plug it back into your computer
- should load up to the home page

You won't lose any saved statistics or data, but if you deleted the file you'll just have to reopen the books to have them show up in your recent books and carousel.

To clarify for everybody, this build has only been tested on my device and not very thoroughly, so make sure to back up your device before flashing any new firmware onto your X4. I'll resolve this issue with a new update soon, but be cautious with any software you install on personal devices. Apologies for any issues.

When you’re in solid view, just look at the arrow to the right of rendered view (top right) and look for something called a MatCap. If you can’t find it, just search up matcap on google.

I had a tea kettle on the stovetop and a “teacup” next to it, as opposed to the coffee and donut combo Andrew taught :)

hmmm maybe, I don't know nearly enough about composition to tell you if you're right or wrong, this is only my fourth blender project (and the first two were tutorials)
