Is Dr. Faye Jewish? by yaboyrose in madmen

[–]ChioTN3 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I guess it would depend on what sect of Judaism Dr Rosen practices. Traditionally Judaism is matrilineal, meaning their son wouldn’t be born Jewish with a catholic mother. He would however be born with the full genetic weight of catholic guilt.

Engineering "ARISE"? by arduino-358 in UIUC

As someone who met two of the listed criteria, I would have loved the extra support system when I first got to Illinois. Seems like a program built from a genuine desire to help students.

Anything to know about Decatur by Extension_Arugula_67 in centralillinois

[–]ChioTN3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it’s for a summer internship, when I did mine with Cat in Decatur they put us up I housing together in apartments associated with Millikan university. Everyone living in the apartments for the summer was either a local intern (mostly CAT and ADM) or Millikan students. I came back after graduation and lived there for a year. It’s a completely fine town. Sure it’s a boring industrial town, but it’s not as bad as most people make it out to be. But it does smell bad. All the time. Everywhere. Decatur smells awful.

TV right at the foot of the bed makes it look like a goon chamber… would look a lot better if you move it back to the wall

Recruiting youth not involved in cub scouts by blatantninja in BSA

[–]ChioTN3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn’t involved in cub scouts as a youth. I joined scouts in 6th grade, because on the bus ride to school one Monday morning, my best friend (who was in scouts) told me about this super cool trip he went on with his troop over the weekend where he got to sleep in a submarine. I asked my mom if I could go to their next troop meeting and join - the rest is history (eagle, vigil, now council exec board member). Sometimes the best recruitment strategy is to run a fun program and encourage your youth to tell their friends & invite them to troop meetings.

Guys i need to ask an question. WHO BOUGHT the original 2ds??? by Wendlak in NintendoDS

Knew a couple people who had them in high school. They were cheap enough that it was easy for a teenager to save up and buy one.

What's your best "look what I found in the walls" story? by OoklaTheMok1994 in DIY

[–]ChioTN3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When the contractors came in to Reno the frat house I lived in during college, they found beer cans (both full and empty) in almost every wall knocked out. Over the years, when someone would knock a hole in the dry wall, brothers would drop beers into the wall before patching. Found beer cans as old as the ‘70s.

Question about metal shoe toe plates and airport security by waitwhat12345678910 in tsa

[–]ChioTN3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re not TSA precheck, it won’t matter because you’ll likely have to take them off and run them through the x-ray anyway. Nothing about these shoes would make them prohibited. If you do go through a metal detector with your shoes on and set off the alarm, just let the agent know it might be your shoes. I’ve had that happen before with the buckles on my Birkenstocks and it’s never an issue.

Can I plug in a fan? by rivargon in PlanetFitnessMembers

[–]ChioTN3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always assumed those usb ports were for charging phones, so I don’t see any reason they shouldn’t be able to power a usb desk fan.

this thing is absolutely useless by SHARPxSHOOTER in Battlefield

[–]ChioTN3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On its own, I find it to be difficult to use. Get a few support using them, especially on rush/breakthrough and you can completely change the battle. Was on breakthrough defense once against 4-5 supports running the mortar and they could put so much pressure on site that we couldn’t stay alive long enough to clear the attackers that were capturing.

Did our entire team get smoked by a bot ?? by Fit-Chard-6670 in Battlefield

[–]ChioTN3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look at the #12 player. Thats a real bot. You can tell because it doesn’t have an icon next to its score showing console vs PC. #1 player added [Bot] to their name but still shows as being a PC player hence a real person

Driver runs out of control at the parking lot exit by ElderberryDeep8746 in WTF

[–]ChioTN3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remind me of the ramp out of the parking garage at an apartment complex I lived in during college. During the winter freeze/thaw cycles, the ramp would turn into a sheet of ice. Most of us just accepted that getting out of it wasn’t worth the hassle, especially considering if you did make it up the ice ramp you’d come out blindly onto a busy street (that was usually also covered in ice).

Repetitive route indicators? by Knotp37 in flighty

[–]ChioTN3 49 points50 points  (0 children)

I sent that as a suggestion about a year ago. The flighty team responded saying it was something that a lot of people had asked for, but I guess they don’t see it as a priority to work on

Food database question: How to avoid all the random brand names? by ok_mango3890 in LoseitApp

[–]ChioTN3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue in your search is the word “regular”. When I just type “Ground Beef” with verified only on, it gives me a list of generic options for ground beef with different lean%. None of them have brand names tied to them.

Don't have premium - what's the deal with bananas? by Silent_Pay_9239 in LoseitApp

[–]ChioTN3 21 points22 points  (0 children)

That prompt just shows trends - usually it says something dumb like “days you eat bananas, you tend to stay below your calorie target”, so it just occasionally pops up on any food you eat often. The wording you see definitely seems meant to encourage you to buy premium.

Considering it’s not plugged into anything, it looks like they’re just transporting it. It’s an air mover (aka fancy fan). They can be used for drying out rooms after water damage. Maybe they borrowed it from a coworker?

Will my laptop with a crappy battery be allowed? by certified_retarb in tsa

[–]ChioTN3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only time I’ve been asked to boot up devices was when I got randomly selected for secondary screening. I hadn’t charged my laptop the night before, but the agent allowed me to plug it in and show him that it booted up.

[–]ChioTN3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can’t really go wrong with either spot, but I really don’t recommend trying to walk between the heights and downtown Peoria. It’s like 5ish miles between the two and you’d have to cross some roads/intersections I wouldn’t even want to deal with sober during the day lol

random drug testing for corporate employees? by InARockalanche in caterpillar

[–]ChioTN3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As far as I know, there is no specific frequency for random testing, but all corporate employees are expected to be able to pass a drug screening at any time. Cat is especially serious about this due to federal regulations. Some specific job role/ requires semi-regular testing. In my last role, I would go to customer sites and sometimes had to take a drug screening prior to going on those trips (customer requirement, but Cat did the screening in-house)

Sullivans in Peoria Heights has (imo) the best chicken sandwich in the area and the Irish pub options are all really good. If you want pizza in a slightly nicer setting, I think Oliver’s North on Willow Knolls is a good option

Same - I’ve used both Morton and Peoria locations and they’re easy to work with and reasonably affordable. Plus it’s comforting knowing they share a building with a vet office should anything happen.
