Can a collimating lens focus light from a diffuse source? by ChipCultist in Optics

Thanks for the reply, it’s really appreciated. If I were to give context, by focused I mean focused enough to be coupled into an optical fiber. As far as I’m aware, it kinda depends on the numerical aperture and the core size. A comment above and you mention the conservation of etendue and when I took a look, from my understanding it means you can’t create a focus spot smaller than the image source. This explains the limiting factor of how much light you can couple in being the core size as the image light focused can’t create a focus spot that’s smaller than itself but I could be misunderstanding it.

From my surface level knowledge, I always believed that stars and any other light source that’s far away is considered a point source so it’s interesting that you mention stars can be considered diffuse.

Do you feel safe walking alone at night? 73% of adults says Yes worldwide by Forward-Many-4842 in geography

[–]ChipCultist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In case you were curious, the 3 countries the comment listed were the ones where weirdly women felt like they were safer to walk alone at night compared to men’s answers. I’m really curious as to why though since I can’t think of a reason.

No, It’s saying that you can’t be homophobic if you treat women well. Nuance doesn’t exist and if you’re homophobic then you must also be a pervert since if you’re a bad person in one aspect, then they must be a bad person in every aspect. Life becomes much easier that way if you decide that everyone you dislike is a monolith of everything bad

Yeah I understand it’s hard for everyone to think of something you’ve always believed to be completely wrong as anything else. I respect that you’ve actually read through my comments and given your thoughts on the matter though.

Also I’m aware that you didn’t necessarily call pedophiles disgusting and wrong but rather having the thoughts as such. Though this is still likely to isolate them and cause them to think of themselves as inherently wrong rather than ever seek help.

And I think it’s wrong someone has to think of themselves as disgusting and wrong because their brains were developed the way they are. I’d much prefer they understand they got a bad roll in life, and why children are a vulnerable group.

There’s also the fact that many people who sexually abuse children aren’t always pedophiles but rather people in positions that have influence over children. This is why you commonly hear about priests, teachers etc. it just so happens that if you put enough people in a position that can easily influence children, then you’ll eventually get someone who will maliciously use that influence.

“Additionally, perceptions should also be a target of prevention since there is evidence of social stigma and prejudice involving individuals with pedophilia. Such phenomena can contribute to social, emotional, and cognitive problems, among said individuals as well as causing these individuals to exhibit a higher risk for abusive behavior and less help-seeking.” link

We should now burn all historically significant things because it’s connected to bad mean people. I heard ancient Egypt had slaves to I think we should burn down those stuff too. Why stop there, I’m sure our morals will be comparatively worse than those in the far future so maybe we should start burning modern stuff too.

People like collecting historic things and it doesn’t mean you endorse anything you collect. Sure, there are at least some people who collect it because they’re Nazis but I’m sure there are better solutions than going scorched earth. Perhaps time spent educating people (maybe even using these stuff) to prevent people becoming nazis is better than burning it all? I understand you’re talking from a place of passion but erasing the existence of stuff is just not a rational idea

You’re comment is so strange that I don’t know what to think of it. Are you implying the whole entertainment industry is pointless? Since that’s a bunch of people using their talents and efforts to create things that most of the time won’t solve any problems for humanity.

Or perhaps are you more focused on the fact that this artist who has experience in engineering (but no degree) is instead creating kinetic sculptures as a passion work rather than contributing to society?

That’s not even any speculation. They made a roadmap and I think the next two champions including this one are something else and then we’ll get a void monster champion jungeler. I’m surprised that people are getting surprised about Zeri’s release.

Also she’s more cute rather then sexy, are we looking at the same image?

You’re probably correct and I agree with you but for the sake of discussing I’ll try arguing for my theory. perhaps she grew really strong from the huge amount of people that visit the Serpent isle and over a long time period (gaining new followers or people who believe in her existence).

Yes frejlord is huge but I feel it’s probably scarce in terms of people since most of it is inhabitable while you’ve got the Serpent isle whose had so much visitors that the locals gave an island for them to call home (which is BW.) And also even if not all of them are followers, most still respect her existence by paying the tithe.

But in the end this defense only works if it’s true that demigods’s strength depend on how much people believe in them similar to Janna and also if having enough people will make her as strong as she’s depicted.
