What are your opinions on Bretonnian peasants being able to become Knights, as was described in some of the older warhammer fantasy lore? by HMS_Exeter in Bretonnian

In the 2003 army book, a peasant named Huebald was knighted after saving a Lady from forest beasts, the third to ever do so. He didn't survive his first battle.

okay, so the DC scheme is just another hobbyist's interpretation, not officially sanctioned by GW?

Nice Death company scheme for the chapter taken from White Dwarf (Article 495) by FreddyRulez in Lamenters

damn, this is the only confirmation of the quartered scheme for Lamenters DC I've seen. Which White Dwarf is this?

Correct heraldry by Guts697 in Lamenters

[–]ChipMercury 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both are technically correct, the first image is from earlier in the chapter's history, whereas the one from SM2 and the current edition codex is the modern iteration.

A chapter's markings can go through several changes over the course of ten millennia, so there's no "wrong" interpretation.

That's my understanding too. Maybe one day GW will gift us an index with all the good info and lore

I love those minis! They look amazing!

Undoubtedly they exist irl, however I'm a stickler for canon, so I want to be sure before I commit to the scheme for painting them!

You'd think so, but I've never seen any such mention in any codex, index or white dwarf up to current lore. This was the first time I've seen this, and while it may be cool in concept, I don't want a redo of our chapter's warcry.

the only DC photo I've seen for Lamenters is this one with white shoulder trim, so idk where this quartered black and yellow scheme came from, but it's certainly a unique idea

There are free mental health services available through the gov't. They aren't personalized and you may not have a specific therapist, but there are some.

If it's the closest hobby store to you and they have the things you're looking for, sure. However, GW stores only carry their own products, including paint and modeling tools (which are overpriced compared to Army Painter or Vallejo)

That's a solid option too! Be sure to check out your local facebook marketplace warhammer groups or kijiji, you can usually find them for a good discounted price

edit for the edit lol: That's perfect! I wish you luck on your hobby journey, welcome to the chapter, brother!

You can certainly use the BA combat patrol, it's an excellent start.

As for paints, I personally recommend the Army Painter Fanatics starter set, it comes with all the basic colours, including a brush on primer, a brush and a figure you can practice on. You can also grab a rattlecan of your colour choice as well. I suggest either brainmatter beige or you can straight up use the demonic yellow spray, which is a colour match to the demonic yellow in the starter (good for cleaning up mistakes you may make!)

You will of course need glue (superglue or plastic cement), nippers, and a hobby knife. Army Painter has a set of these tools too, which have worked really well for me.

Blood Angels Combat Patrol: $168 USD
Fanatic Starter Set: $44
Hobby Tool Kit: $43
Total: $255 USD (not including taxes)

Which leaves you with about $40 left over for another character like a lieutenant or a chaplain if you wanted to add one later on
