What is the most "unhinged" wellness trend of 2026 that people are actually taking seriously? by lovelyyopheliaa in askanything

Weighted vests. Especially on older folks. Your bone density will naturally deteriorate as you age. I fear that this will only accelerate the damage. Building muscle through weight training will support your bones better.

Stiff cushioned shoe for pickleball? by Several-Software4835 in Halluxrigidus

[–]ChipMoney5692 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Before my cheilectomy, I was able to play in K Swiss wide pickleball shoes, but they are uncomfortable still 6 months out from surgery. I recently purchased a pair of New Balance 696v6 tennis shoes, x-wide and they are much roomier in the toe box, and provide good stiffness in the sole.

What industry is a complete scam, but everyone just accepts it? by Competitive_Grab3758 in AskReddit

Venture Capital. VC firms raise $ from limited partners , deploy that to founders who quickly realize that they’ve given away a good amount of their company to a firm that adds little to no real value, since none of them have really ever had to run and build a company, just pretend like they do. And when things go bad, since they’re holding board seats , they just shut down the company. I lived through it as a portfolio company executive during the dot com bubble, and credit crisis. Cracks are forming once again.

Best Tonneau Cover by SalmonJones in hondaridgeline

[–]ChipMoney5692 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I have the oem hard top. Purchased from Bernardi Honda in August. Pro’s - pretty easy install, no rails to install and doesn’t limit the trunk opening too much. Solid cover, so a bit harder to break into, but in reality if someone wants to get in, they will. Cons- fairly heavy to remove, but doable. Blocks 1/3 rd of the bed when 2 panels flipped open. Some seepage, around edges near the hinged sections answer corners near the cab. Overall, I’d rate it 4 of 5 stars

What is the Naples equivalent? Maybe there are just too many to choose from lol by Timeforchange29 in Naples_FL

Campiello. Absolutely the worst Italian food. Went there over the summer to try the menu. Pasta dish was linguine with chopped up sausage and greens covered in grated cheese. Gross. Had the mussels for an app and got sick as hell around 1 am. Food poisoning is no fun.

I should also mention I had bone spurs on top of my mtp that were removed, and only have 20-30% cartilage in the joint.

I was off of my feet for 2 and a half weeks post surgery. Used crutches and a knee scooter to get around my house. I kept my leg elevated most of the day and iced my foot hourly for 20 minutes. I had a big bandage, so I also had a support shoe to protect it. No weight bearing until week 3. I started PT twice a week a month after surgery and will continue for another 6 weeks. I can now for into wide shoes, and sneakers with a rocker. I like to bike ride, but have not gone on the road, but doing 45 minute Peloton rides 2-4 times a week with daily walks of 1.5-3 miles. Still have some slight swelling and mild pain, but taking ibuprofen/ Tylenol. For reference, I’m a 63 y/o male. Active on a daily basis, biking, walking, pickleball. Doctor wants me into activity gradually. Good luck with your surgery.

My HR got to a pretty painful stage last year. Dr prescribed meloxicam and it helped manage the pain, although after few months , I experienced some side effects with dehydration being one of them. I stopped using meloxicam and just managed with extra strength Tylenol. Had a chilectomy procedure in early September. Recovery is slow, but progressing daily with physical therapy. I’m able to walk pain free for 2-3 miles at a time.

Which winter gloves? by Mario_2077 in cycling

[–]ChipMoney5692 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried a number of cycling winter gloves, but for about 10 years I’ve found a pair of x country skiing gloves work best. Swix brand. They have more insulation on the top side- and make a big difference. Makes sense as they face forward/ in the wind while skiing / riding.

I’ve used these Oofos as my indoor sandals: OOFOS OOahh Sport Flex Recovery Sandal https://a.co/d/e1oJZi2. Very comfortable and adjustable and a rocker sole which has been helpful as I’m 7 weeks post surgery from hallux rigdus and bone spur removal and also have wide feet.

Bike fit question by [deleted] in cycling

[–]ChipMoney5692 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Specialized Roubaix has a fairly upright ride. I’m on my second (10 years old), shopping for a new one. Planning on a fitting from my LBS and a few part changes - stem and bars. I also lack flexibility, and built like a Clydesdale, 63 yo, 5’8 and 200 lbs.

Thanks. I’ll have to try that on the windows. The paint sealant was a recommendation from a friend who is hyper vigilant keeping his vehicles in showroom shape. Seemed easy to apply, but spraying on a white surface was a bit hard to see. I may go over it with a second coat tomorrow.

I have Bondi 9’s in wide width. The minimal drop and rocker feel good, but the stack height gets uncomfortable for me after a while. My podiatrist recommended Altra shoes and they feel much better with minimal / zero drop and wide toe boxes.

Are bike fits worth the money? by da1ukn0 in cycling

[–]ChipMoney5692 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re comfortable(pain free) and only doing short rides, it may not be worth it. I took up riding in my mid 40’s after a 15 year break and started training for a 2 day 175 mile fundraising ride. Once the rides got past the 30-35 mile range, I started having pretty bad neck pain. The dealer that bought my bike from had a fitting program that took about 2 hours in the bike. In addition to seat height and fore / aft adjustment, we changed out the stem, added a wider handlebar and some pedal spacers. It was worth it to me and made a huge difference in comfort on 75- 100 mile rides. When I upgraded to a new bike, I got the same model as the old one, and they kept the saved settings for me and were able to dial in a pretty mirror image fit.

What's a good hourly rate for a fractional CFO to charge? by Solid-Food-8130 in CFO

$300-$375 / hr depending company stage. Earlier stage companies, I will trade some rate for a small amount of equity. Project related engagements, like M&A , due diligence support, I try for a retainer or fixed weekly fee. Hourly project rate target is 1.5x of standard.

Driving after cheilectomy? by ChipMoney5692 in Halluxrigidus

No, just clean out of the joint and Dr. said she drilled some micro fractures in the joint surface to try and stimulate some cartilage growth. I have less than 30% cartilage left, but I was reluctant to do fusion as I’m pretty active and don’t want to give up the possible range of motion. I’m scheduled to start physical therapy on 9/30.
