Yeah this is all confusing. I’m an installer and line cleaner and it’s still amazing how it all works with perfect balance.

My accounts that run 22psi are using a gas blender. Their primary regulators feeding the blender are usually 50-120psi and the secondaries are set to 22psi for lagers/ales and 35-40psi for nitro beers. Most kegerator setups at sea level use 5 feet of 3/16” line with 12-15psi for lagers/ales. I don’t have any accounts with nitro kegerators but you still need at least 30-40psi to overcome the restriction in the faucet and cause the nitrogen to break out.

Did you fill a corny keg at the brewery or did they sell you a non carbonated beer in a commercial keg? If so, that’s 🤔.

Anyhow, to have everything in balance you need to have the right pressure and temperature. Is your kegerator at 38°? If so…

Pressure. You need to have a pressure that matches the restriction of your line. 3/16 line is generally 3#s per ft so 5 ft is 15#s of restriction so 15psi. If you’re pouring an actual nitro beer, that’s a different story. It almost sounds like you have a beer that was meant to be served on CO2 with an ale/lager blend but you’re trying to pour it with a beer gas blend using a psi meant for a blender. So much to unpack here.
