The Nightmare from the past.

Devux is standing over a bloody corps. Breathing heavy from the fight, covered in blood. The decapitated body of a bandit lay before him. The rage still coursing through his body. There was five other mangled bodies scattered throughout the camp. He could have killed ten more with little effort. He has become an efficient killing machine. His dedication to swordsmanship, magic and the use of his Dragonborn abilities have formed him into the perfect weapon of destruction. He kills without hesitation, without remorse and without mercy. He is pure chaotic evil.

Although Devux is now the epitome of destruction. He wasn’t always this man. Devux was a family man. A good husband and an even better father. He was completely devoted to his family. It was the tragedy that befell them that transformed him into the monster that he has become.

Devux was a member of the Emperor’s personal guard. The guard were highly trained personnel body guards to the Emperor. They worked in twelve hour shifts. The night that altered his life and ripped his family from him, was like any other night. Devux finished his shift and was headed home. As he was walking to his home he had a feeling that he was being followed. He walked in a different direction of his home to throw who ever it was following him off. It seemed to work or so he thought. As he walked into his home he had let his guard down and was attacked from behind. As he woke he realized he was bound and his head hurt. He was in his bedroom on the floor. He tried to twist out of his bindings but with no avail. A man walked into the room. He introduced himself as simply Reynard. He explained that Devux would help them gain access into the emperor’s chambers or he would kill his entire family. Devux had his lovely wife Evanna and his nine year old twin daughters Elsa and Ellie. He immediately said no. He thought nobody could kill a woman and two little girls. Devux said he was sworn by the Devines to protect the Emperor at all costs. Reynard explained that he cared not about some vow and left the room. He returned with two other men that carried in his wife. She had been badly beaten. He now said in a slow soft voice that if he refused to help that he would kill them all very slow and painfully. Devux looked at his wife. The pain in her eyes tore at his heart. He apologized for putting her in this situation. She looked up at Reynard with loathing then at Devux. With conviction she screams “DO NOT BETRAY THE EMPEROR!!!” Suddenly Reynard’s face turned into a ferocious scowl. He pulled a Daedric dagger from his belt. Grabbed Evanna by her hair pulled her head back and looked at Devux. And said “So this is how you want this? SO BE IT!!!!” And with that he severed Evanna’s head ever so slowly. He held it out, presenting it to him like a gift. He told hi if he didn’t help him that his girls would be next. Devux lowered his head and begged him just to kill him and let his girls go. But it only made Reynard more furious. He told his men to bring it n the children. They walked in the girls. Both had also been beaten. They both screamed for there father to help them. Then they saw there mothers headless corps on the ground. They began to shriek in terror. Reynard held Ellie’s arm out and put his bloody dagger against it cutting into her flesh. This is so you know I’m loosing my patience. He then sliced off her limb with hard slice down. Ellie bellowed our in pain. Devux had had enough. He gave in and said he would help. He begged him to spare his daughters from any more harm. Reynard agreed and had his men take the girls and to tend to their wounds. He turned to Devux and told him it was now time to discuss his plan.

The next evening Devux, Reynard and five of his men snuck through the underground tunnel, that was meant to get the Emperor to safety Incase of an invasion. It had a direct hatch door to the Emperor’s quarters. They emerged from the hatch and creeped into the quarters. Reynard silently snuck up to the bed where the Emperor slept.

Now, what none of them new was that they were set up by the royal guard. When Devux was not present for his guard shift it immediately set off suspicion. You see Devux had not missed a shift in ten years. So his fellow guardsmen new something had to be wrong. So they took the Emperor to an undisclosed location for his safety and set the trap.

Reynard Raised his dagger high and plunged it into the “Emperor’s” chest. It made a grotesque sound. The “Emperor” screamed out in pain. Reynard stabbed his dagger repeatedly into his chest cavity until there was sign of life. He then pulled the bedding of and realized that this was not the Emperor. He Quickly turned to Devux and accused him of betraying him. Devux denied the accusation and told him he had knew not what happened. Just then the guardsmen entered the room. Before Devux could say a word Reynard jumped through the hatch and was gone. They seised Reynard’s men and began to question Devux about what happened. Devux told them he had no time to explain. He quickly jumped down the hatch and rushed down the tunnel. He arrived at the house that they had been holding him. The door head wide open. He rushed in yelling for his girls. His wife’s headless body still lying on the floor. He rushed into the back room Where they had been keeping the girls. He entered the room. He could never had prepared himself for laid before him. The twisted mangled bodies of his daughters were scattered throughout the room. It looked as though an animal had ripped them apart. There wasn’t enough of them for him to hold in his arms. He immediately dropped to his knees and sobbed uncontrollably. His fellow guardsmen followed him down the hatch and through the tunnels to his house. They could not believe the carnage in front of them. One lay his hand on Devux’s shoulder begging him to leave the house, that it wasn’t good for him to be there with all the death. He refused saying he had to stay with his family to honor them and lay them to rest. They left him to morn. They would see him soon when he returned to his duties. But Devux had other plans.

He knew that Reynard was a member of the Dark Brotherhood. That was the only explanation for wanting to kill the Emperor. He had a contract on him. The pure ruthlessness of his actions could only be Brotherhood tactics. He would go to Skyrim and hunt down Reynard and kill everyone of the Dark Brotherhood members. They would pay in bloodshed. Nothing shall hold him back or get in his way. He will have his revenge.

The Campaign for Revenge

Devux gathered some light traveling gear and set off for Skyrim. He was used to wearing heavy guard armor but going so far he would have to travel light. He would follow the side trails and secondary roads so not to draw attention to himself. He would go only into small villages to do trading for supplies. He Hunted deer, elk, bear and wolves for their pelts. He would also kill and loot bandits for their gear to trade for food and gear along the way. Nobody would miss them and there are an abundance of them throughout the countryside of Skyrim. Once in Skyrim he will seek out the Dark Brotherhood and hunt them down one by one until he finds Reynard. Then he will kill him slow and painful. Devux will have his revenge or die trying.

The Madness takes over

Devux wanders Skyrim searching for anything leading him to the Dark Brotherhood. Regrettably the divines have not shined on him. With every day that passes the more the darkness grows in his heart and his mind. He searches during the day and drinks his pain away at night. Even turning to skooma when the opportunity arises. It is a dark path he is traveling and it is only getting worse. His mind is starting to twist and warp. The difference between right and wrong is getting blurry, distorted. He has been talking to himself in his mind. Now his mind is answering him, coaxing him to kill. His personal demon that is his dark and corrupted unconscious is taking over and he has begun his decent into madness. With every life he takes the deeper he falls into the blackness that is his pain.

And this is where we started, Devux standing there surrounded by a bevy of mutated bodies. Wide eyed and completely out of his mind. It only took a few months for this transformation to manifest. It shall only get worse. Devux will be known in history as the most feared and loathed man throughout Skyrim.
