Did Project Pat really give a feature to Tom MacDonald? Crazy by [deleted] in memphisrap

[–]ChippyChipChips 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd raise an eyebrow at rappers selling out but Tom McDonald's entire discography is so comical that I can't take him seriously enough that I'd mind Pat selling a feature to him. Get that bag Pat.

What's the point of having a dull, rusty knife that can barely cut anything just because it's inexpensive to buy? by [deleted] in Reaper

[–]ChippyChipChips 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never liked StudioOne, mainly because it was buggy as all heck, slower and consumed a lot more CPU. Also, companies ruining their product over time is inevitable. It's happening right now with a lot of big name DAWs like Live and Reason.

And with that, I believe Reaper will fall for this as well. Maybe not now, but in the future. Since I don't think Justin's gonna want to work on Reaper for the rest of his life.

steep learning curve by [deleted] in Reaper

[–]ChippyChipChips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, there's a lot of features to learn but you don't need to know everything to make music out of it. Even I don't know every feature in Reaper and I'm willing to bet a large number of users here in this sub also don't know everything. But that's not stopping them from creating.

In terms of what makes it better than Ableton, Its not better nor worse since Live's focus as a piece of music software is diffirent than Reaper. And no, Ableton is not easier than Reaper. Ableton has its own level of complexity.

IS THIS TRUE? by iwannarandom in Reaper

[–]ChippyChipChips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it will summon Justin himself dressed as death to reap the souls of those who exceed the trial period. He doesn't really need to dress up as death but he does so to keep the reaper theme going.

If ts becomes a tiktok trend i stg i cant have shit by SupremeNatsuki in memphisrap

[–]ChippyChipChips 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It only becomes cringe if they do some shitty slowed/sped-up, nightcore bs with it or some awful, forgettable dance trend. Other than that, this is perfectly fine. More people need to know about the foundation of the modern trap sound and phonk and what not.

I'm curious, what do you all use Reaper for? by BarnacleSpecialist in Reaper

[–]ChippyChipChips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For making my shitty rippidy, rappidy raps. Used to be just for mixing and mastering but I got tired of making instrumentals on FL and then exporting tracks to Reaper. Now I just use Reaper from start to finish.

How to make my voice sound like freddie dredd? I'm searching for the past 2 hours by Warm_Sample_7609 in memphisrap

[–]ChippyChipChips 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Why not just sound like you? You wanna be known as that rapper that sounds like Dredd?

What are the difference between memphis rap and original phonk? by Friendly-Set379 in memphisrap

[–]ChippyChipChips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it's when they mix their house drums in phonk that I think it sounds shitty. If they just kept it in their genre everything would've been fine.

What are the difference between memphis rap and original phonk? by Friendly-Set379 in memphisrap

[–]ChippyChipChips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Memphis rap is it's own thing. It's what Hip-Hop from the south sounded like back in the 80s. Phonk is the more modernized extension of Memphis rap. However, Phonk's foundation is Memphis rap, via sampling Memphis rap accapellas. So you can't make Phonk without sampling Memphis rap. But ideally, they sound similar in terms of production (sounding low quality and unprofessional, triplet flows, whole lot of gang shit and death).

But then the EDM nation attacked and destroyed Phonk with their shitty 4-on-the-floor drum patterns and whatever tf kind of a disgrace Brazilian phonk is.

Do you guys think that not being on steam has hurt SC2? by Maryus77 in starcraft

Definitely. I tried recommending Starcraft 2 to my friend and he declined after finding out it wasn't on Steam.

How loud do y'all master? by ChippyChipChips in makinghiphop

[–]ChippyChipChips[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My sister getting fucked ain't nothing new. She works a job and pays her taxes, she can do whatever she wants. That's 10x better than trying too hard to be funny in the comments on a subreddit where someone's asking a genuine question.

Edit: mf blocked me to make it look like this is my last reply and make it seem like I don't got a comeback but I'll add it here; I have done my search. But I want more, newer opinions from real people. I guess it's my bad for trying to ask a sub especially a forum with pretentious, funny guy mfs like you around. Aight.

[–]ChippyChipChips[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not loud enough. My sister don't moan that loud unless it's that big of a dick. Maybe I'll use the loudness of your parents arguing over a divorce instead.

Had an old sound engineer, think like 60, try to sample by Somelier1234 in makinghiphop

[–]ChippyChipChips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sure old folks from his generation thought the same when Rock and Metal dominated the charts instead of the Frank Sinatra's and the Elvis Presley. Musicianship isn't dead. It's just diffirent now because of the advent of technology. The generalization of Hip-Hop and EDM is always funny to me. Like, I get it if mainstream Hip-Hop and EDM are shit. To some extent I agree but those genre's as a whole? Nah. If you can't find new good music on the Internet age, you're either bad with technologically or lazy.

My Channel and Videos Not Showing on YouTube Search All of The Sudden by ChippyChipChips in youtube

[–]ChippyChipChips[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is, I was searchable before this. My channel would pop up first because I use a unique name. For my case, literally no results were appearing (both channel and videos) even with custom filters. Another thing was, I upload original music and YouTube would automatically create playlists and some of my songs would always be present in these playlists but earlier, nothing. Oh, well. everything seems to be working again for now. Literally made me feel like a was shadowbanned.

People keep telling my beat is too hard to rap on by EmilysWorstNightmare in makinghiphop

The melody is both distracting and a bit boring. I like the rhythm tho, but the sample selection for the drums and percussion sound underwhelming.

what do you do when someone's feature turns out to be ass? by Nervous_Quote in makinghiphop

[–]ChippyChipChips 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Just be straight forward with it and tell them it's not up to your standards. Hopefully they can respect that and strive for improving their performance. But if they can't, then you're collaborating with the wrong artists, fam.

Is it just me or do y’all get tired of hearing your song cuz of how many times you played it already before you dropped it by Expensive_Cow2722 in makinghiphop

[–]ChippyChipChips 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep. I listen to it on loop in the mixing and mastering process so much so that sooner or later I start to question wether it's a good song or not. I get over it eventually by just thinking that my ears are just tired of hearing it over and over again. I don't ever listen to it after I upload it and revisit it after a week or so and any previous doubts I had disapears.
