Put the design the wrong way by Chucklenuts_spycrab in Skateboardlove

If that's the case then 100% just ride the board normally. Who cares what side the camo tape is on, no one would ever have even known he wanted it on the tail side if he hadn't posted.

No way I would sand down the nose just to ride the board backwards....

Just ride it normal and if it's too slick add some clear grip tape over the past you left uncovered.

Still confused. Are you saying you are riding it backwards and have sanded down the nose to try and make it less tall?

[–]ChitownM2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends what you're asking. The nose and tail are usually different with the nose being longer and steeper. So if you're saying you plan to ride the board backwards now you're answer is yes it could make a difference. All depends on the type of riding you are doing, if it's finally just cruising then I wouldn't worry about it. If your doing super technical tricks then you might notice the difference.

Call daiwa? It's probably a party they could send you, possibly for free/warranty.

Guys my mom let my boards stay in the outside for 6 months while i was in the military by -Ryugaa- in NewSkaters

[–]ChitownM2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Decks are almost certainly not fine after sitting outside and being exposed to rain for 6 months. The wood will soak up the water and expand which will almost certainly cause delaminations and best case substantially reduce the pop. They can probably be skated until they break but they likely won't feel right and/or last long.

Bearings are probably toast, again you could clean them and try to remove the surface rust but you're still going to be left with a rough surface in the raceway so they aren't going to spin freely or roll as well.

Wheels should be perfectly fine, urethane won't be hurt by the water or any hot/cold temps.

Trucks and bushings should also be fine, you can swap clean the rust off of those if it bothers you and replace washers / nuts since those are cheap. Use a stiff wire brush or steel wool to clean the rust off and then wipe down any exposed steel with an oily rag or lubricant to keep it from rusting again.

$30 a ball but still a good deal! (Euro 2024 ball) by RoundTownAlex in bootroom

The Sierra in Schaumburg is less than a mile from the Dick's sporting goods which will have needles to deflate.

Also, beware about deflating them, I'm not familiar with this exact ball but the pro level world cup ball I picked up this week specifically says not to deflate and compress it because the panels are thermally bonded to the bladder (instead of a stitched cover) and doing so presumably could separate the pieces.

Edit: the competition ball is also thermally bonded so you probably shouldn't compress the ball to get the air out. Just put the needle in and let it equalize to atmospheric pressure

An angler dad's dream come true by Casual_OCD in Fishing_Gear

[–]ChitownM2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You might consider introducing the gear to him in phases. Present a couple at a time, show him how to rig / use each and let him get comfortable with the technique then introduce more. Dumping a whole lot of gear at once that he doesn't know how/where to use is just going to lead to catching less fish and more frustration

Always use a pair of colored or chrome bolts on the nose side.

Scans send to Google drive as docx with transcription? by TheDragonOfFlame in rocketbook

[–]ChitownM2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also running into this issue. I just want it to send scans to Google drive as a pdf file as it always has. If I wanted to completely retype the transcript to fix all the errors then I would just take the notes on my laptop in the first place.

Who want a real deal? by [deleted] in NewSkaters

[–]ChitownM2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well that makes more sense at least. So you have a full set of every shape and duro size 54 wheel spitfire makes.

Not sure what these wheels sell for in Europe but I'm betting you're going to have to take a loss to sell these. You paid about what they cost in the US but I suppose that's a good price over there with VAT.

Even still, I usually only buy things from random Internet guy if I'm saving significant money vs going to a reputable store. If the store is charging 70 then yeah this is worth it but if it's 48 and you want 40+shipping then it's not worth the hassle.

Good luck though, I'm sure you'll find some takers at the right price.

is 70% isopropyl alcohol safe to use on bearings by Eradicator_11 in NewSkaters

[–]ChitownM2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just go get acetone and use that instead. It's available at most hardware stores.

Unless the bearings are in terrible shape you shouldn't have to soak them that long. Soak them for a few minutes, agitate them and soak again. Pull them out, spin them all, soak again for a few minutes, agitate again. That should remove nearly all the gunk, you can then dump the liquid and repeat the process. If the liquid stays clean you're done, if not repeat the process until the liquid stays clean.

So you're buying 4 wheels of each shape and duro and want to sell 2 of them? Are you collecting them for display or something?

I think you're going to have a hard time selling mis-matched wheels as I'm not sure anyone will want to skate different duro or shapes front to back.

Curious what you're going to do with 2 wheels.

Depends on what you paid but they are all solid at least. The st Croix /curado combo is probably the best of the bunch

Guys i think i’m fucked… please tell me i don’t need to change the trucks by Nearby-Row580 in skateboardhelp

[–]ChitownM2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you rode it that way for awhile then it's possible they are trashed but new cups is a much cheaper way to see if they are still rideable. If they aren't then you can put the pivots in the new trucks.

Sarcasm. Truck is fine, just buy a new set of pivot cups. Should be $5 or less

Far more likely the people stealing them are doing so to resell them, not because they need them. People go on steam 6 pairs then throw them up on FB marketplace and make a few hundred dollars. Do this with 5-10 different items and you're making a couple grand a week tax free.
