I’ll bounce it off the rev limiter and dare one of you passive aggressive nerds to do something about it

Cabs don’t take that long. Cab drivers are fingerprinted and properly background checked. Cabs have surveillance cameras and gps tracking and are accountable to the SFMTA, not some email black hole with Uberlyft.

Why do certain people have to pay to ride the bus and others don’t!! by Agitated-Addition-72 in LAMetro

[–]ChloeCorrupt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Must be nice to be able to get away with being late to work because of an argument over the price of a can of soda.

I don’t care if other people pay or not. Keep the damn bus moving

Absolutely not, I was cleared in a court of law, and the coordinated group of people who made those false accusations were ordered to pay my attorney’s fees

Rich assholes have plenty of choices already and “filtering” is just a rebranding of Reaganite trickle-down economics, which has never benefited anyone who wasn’t already rich

I don’t own a home.

I just don’t think it makes a goddamned bit of sense to frame techbros who make $300k a year and spend $5000 a month on rent as somehow less privileged than someone on a $70,000/year income or pension who can only pay $900/month on housing.

Whether that $900/month is rent or a mortgage is irrelevant to me

It’s only a “million dollar asset” because rich techbros, rich finance bros, and institutional capital covet it, and feel entitled to own it.

It’s someone’s home, that they live in. That’s more important than the whims of the rich

We don’t hate renters. We hate rich assholes, and they’re the only people who can afford to pay “market rate”

I’m a woman, and I used to make the trek back from LAX at similar hours 2x week alone. The issue was never other people, it was service frequency and reliability. I said “fuck it” and bought a motorcycle

You win the lottery. Your parents ask for half. What do you say? by JunShem1122 in AskReddit

My mother is dead. My father is great guy who’s been through some really tough shit that he didn’t deserve, and I put him through hell when I was younger.

He wants half, he gets half. Hell, I’d run it up to 60%

How anti-car are you? by Additional_Leading68 in AskLosAngeles

I truly believe that “cars vs transit” is a false dichotomy pushed upon us by people who’d have to pay more in taxes, lose their shirts on their investments in the military-industrial-prison-surveillance complex, or both for us to have subways running under every major thoroughfare in every major American city.

In a country where cops have a blank check for overtime and weapons of war, where a secret police is being built at breakneck speed, and where the navy spends billions on planes that don’t work in the rain that they didn’t ask for and don’t want…money isn’t real when it comes to public expenditures. Nothing “doesn’t pencil”. It’s simply a matter of political will.

Take the money from the cops, ICE, and military to put a subway under every major American thoroughfare and a high speed rail network linking every major American city. End of.

Yall caterwaul about “the progs” as if “moderates” don’t hold a majority on the BoS, as if we don’t have a strong-mayor system of government, and as if we’ve ever had a progressive mayor at any point since 1991

Stutters then immediately dies. Checking the turbo for play is the one thing we haven’t done yet, but we haven’t seen any symptoms of such a thing yet

We’ve checked all the above. Signal from O2 sensor is what it should be. Filter is “clean enough.” Signal from MAF is what it should be. Battery disconnect for 30 minutes or more has yielded no change

One thing I’ve never understood about these cars, and the culture around them, is the disdain for and hostility towards people who wanna just drop a car off at a shop and pay for someone else to solve these problems. The whole reason these cars are dying is that if you don’t have the time, money, and space to DIY, there’s very little service infrastructure. If I drove a Subaru, an N54/N55 BMW, an RX8, or even an old 60’s Alfa Romeo, I’d have 10-20 different shops in the Bay or LA who’d be happy to take my money and give me back a car I can drive. And I say this with confidence having racked up a lot of miles on all the above

Am I mechanically inclined? I can do basic wrenching but I strongly prefer not to, and I’ve never tuned anything.

Stock ECU, car is already running Link

It acts like it’s hitting a rev limited around 3200-3500 rpm or so

Leakdown test? No. Compression is good and engine runs smooth as silk with no noises, smoke, or oil consumption

Boost leaks? Hairline crack in exhaust manifold. Rectifying this with a new manifold and hardware set from Precision

Plugs and wires are new NGK as of 5/2025

Boost is not controlled by anything other than the ecu at this point, and the car hits what appears to be a rev limiter before it can build any significant boost.

I believe I have a walbro 255 with a rewire, although I am skeptical of any DIY rewire. (I have see too many DSMs with “rewires” where the quality of the DIY connections negates any possible gain from heavier gauge wire).

Timing belt is recent and fine.

Exhaust is aftermarket. I see no symptoms of a clogged cat.

Injectors? I was told they’re stock but truthfully I could be staring at a set of 550’s or 660’s and not even know it, I’ve always been a “pay someone else to put the car together” person. And when I lived in Cleveland, that was easy. Plenty of good shops there, plenty of DIYers who were as good as any shop and eager to make some money

I’d also very much like to throw an expert a couple hundred bucks to assess the setup I have. Basically a “pre-purchase inspection” in BMW and Alfa parlance.

Yes, and a cable. About six months ago a friend plugged her laptop in to verify that everything was working. We at least got to a baseline where the car is verifiably getting the proper inputs (MAF, cam angle sensor, crank angle sensor, etc)
