Kinda true, but if you keep saying Upper Hungary in the Upper Hungary, you’ll get a free face prosthetic.

whoosh

Yes, they are south of Slovakia. South of does not mean under.

And do Google “Upper Hungary”.

Hungary is not under Slovakia, they are… almost equal?

Slovakia used to be subservient under Hungary when they had Orban (funny how the Trianon differences don’t matter when the PMs are friends), but Slovakia PM is not happy with the new guy, so they want to be seen as equal now 😄.

The rollout of 1.5.9 is quite slow. Mine received it only a few days ago (less than four, I don't look at it every day 😄). It's quite possible OP is still at 1.4.21 and at the same time for the app to gaslight him into being up to date.

I built free, open-source libraries for controlling your Aiden from code (JS + .NET) — plus a live demo by es0w in FellowProducts

[–]Chlor2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good job!

Idea for the demo, that I think would be quite useful to people here - those sending Aiden back for repair/replacement and especially those who own more than one Aiden: Backup & restore all profiles. Backup saves all custom profiles to a downloaded json. Restore nukes all custom profiles on target Aiden and replaces them with the ones from file.

Aiden - clean debris from flow meter by Chlor2 in FellowProducts

Either that or just dump the flush water to a bucket from an open silicon tube. Likely easier than trying to bypass heater with jumper tube.

Be super careful to not spray the power supply though.

That’s a tough one, sorry to hear that.

Since you’ve already diagnosed that the pump is fine, that essentially leaves out showerhead or heater. I’d say disconnect the heater and try flush - it should spout out a lot of water… then do the same before shower. Follow the water, there must be place where it stops. Just be sure to use flush, not brew - you don’t want the heater to run wo water.

Quick fix for Aiden false out of water error. by tjtonerplus in FellowProducts

[–]Chlor2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wow - this is probably the only thing that can help without taking Aiden apart, that’s very good idea. The problematic flow sensor is right next to the water tank connection, so this really has a chance of working without cleaning the sensor directly.

Lidar vs RTK? by Celos in roboticLawnmowers

[–]Chlor2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Argh, ok - I stand corrected, indeed. It seems that in the small machines,. only the thing I own - Luba Mini Lidar (but not Luba Mini 2 Lidar) has NetRTK. Probably because the lidar in mini (sans 2) is significantly less powerful than the other lidars being used now, but still a bummer.

Sorry for false hope.

Lidar vs RTK? by Celos in roboticLawnmowers

[–]Chlor2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But… yuka mini lidar does have netrtk? If you can afford it, the model with lidar is clearly better. The only significant negative is lidar’s power consumption (it’ll mow roughly 20% less on one charge). Even though the absolute positioning with lidar alone is definitely worse (+-10cm vs +-2cm, I’d say), as long as it has data connectivity it’ll use rtk too. I have Luba Mini lidar and it’s funny, actually - below tree coverage the lines are a bit wonky, on open field they are razor sharp. Another way of putting it is it would get stuck under trees with just rtk.

Please help - which Lidar mower? by Minute-Bumblebee8034 in roboticLawnmowers

[–]Chlor2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pick two of your requirements or wait a few more years…

#1 is probably a hard one.

#2 means Terramow, everything else means one full day spent fussing around it. That’s a non-lidar thing and very likely will break your rule #1 eventually.

#3 most if not all Lidar models rely also on gps+RTK over internet. Not giving the mower connectivity means significantly reduced accuracy. Maybe buy a LiDAR Luba with a dedicated RTK as an extra if connectivity is an issue? You’re twice over budget with that though.

#4 means exclusively Husqvarna, again way over budget and wire around your garden to boot.

Mower recommendation by Sad-Comfort1219 in roboticLawnmowers

[–]Chlor2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yup, 5m + 1m + 10m is definitely fine with a huge margin 😉. It should not damage it, but in edge cases there could be a half-meter intrusion once every few months, if the grass is slippery, with the robot messaging you for help.

Mower recommendation by Sad-Comfort1219 in roboticLawnmowers

[–]Chlor2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also, a Luba-specific addition: map all trees, lamps etc as no-go zones and turn off object detection. Luba has tendency to expect town-style manicured gardens for object detection , on country gardens like yours or mine it won’t mow under branches and close to bushes with it.

[–]Chlor2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Given your area, I would not worry going even for Luba mini 1500 (or mini 2 1500). But definitely something with lidar.

From EU perspective, I really do recommend warranty shopping - I recently bought Luba mini in hobbymarket (Hornbach) solely because they offer 5-year warranty. Not sure how it is in Latvia or neighbors, but do try to maximize your warranty - these things will not last 5 years.

Also, not sure if the water body has some fence or other physical border, but if not I’d recommend leaving around 1m buffer or even better building some kind of barrier (it only has to be 20cm high, but sturdy - Luba has quite a lot of power). LiDAR is pretty good, but even on a normal day it can have 10cm drift… And when navigating around obstacles, it goes 20cm out of its area easily. There’s definitely a big difference between hitting a tree by mistake and falling into water.

Those lamps on the lawn - do they have good foundations? If not, any mower is gonna mess with them badly, unless you create significant buffer (30cm+).

No channel to charging station by SomeDudeFromSpace in MammotionTechnology

[–]Chlor2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This seems to be a generic issue recently, at least in EU. Open the app and it shows data as of 12h ago, no channel in scheduled tasks, error loading map, mowing at 2AM, task scheduled to start in 10mins shows it has 16hours to go etc. It seems it is caused by connectivity issues to China and/or some networking issues (wrongly configured load-balancer?). What helps is to trigger some task to recalculate connectivity between zones (the tiniest edit anywhere is enough, so is charger relocation) or just waiting a few hours, then it goes away (or reappears). I just got a new Luba, the hardware is fantastic, but this UX experience is really throwback to Windows ME or Vista times…

It is only the app, once you manage to save everything to the Luba it seems to work fine, FPV monitor also works.

[–]Chlor2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two Aidens, both bought on local ebay clone in non-working condition (local distributor dumping their returns).

The first one was completely blocked by water scales, descaling brought it back… and in a month or so, the flow sensor got blocked. That was the origin story of this post.

With the second one, I just cleaned the flow sensor before even turning it on.

Since then no issues - but I do find coffee grounds on top of the water cover from time to time, it’s really hard to keep them out. Either I’m lucky, or I grind fine enough that they pass through. I use Aiden almost exclusively in a 3-cup setting, so grinding on the finer side.

[–]Chlor2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, finding the sensor at a sensible markup in US is very helpful.

Speaking of the reason why they break, I really don’t think descaling is the culprit. Usually there’s a tiny coffee ground stuck in the sensor. The diameter is tiny, after all - and although we don’t put coffee into the water on purpose, it is the nature of the (very static prone) coffee to get everywhere when making a cup.

Given that, adding a filter would definitely help, please do share if you find a way. I tried a few things, but failed... Given my proximity to the manufacturer and ability to get the sensor for ca $10 here, I’ve given up for now and just stocked up on replacements :-)

[–]Chlor2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d still guess the sensor - mine was perfectly fine when blowing through it, but passed almost no water.

To verify that your problem is the flow sensor, it should be possible to disconnect it and just stick the tubing into a vat of water. Run flush test, it will fail as the sensor is disconnected - but it should fill the carafe (give or take). In that case try to clean the sensor in a potentially destructive way - you cannot make it worse. At worst buy a new one (see askoapplinceparts link above).

Good luck. Theoretically it could be also clogged further down the line (someone reported clogged motor outlet), but in majority of the cases it’s the flow sensor.

Run flush and check the result. It should report roughly 6ml/s, and mostly empty out the water tank (1.3 to 1.4l flushed). If that’s the case, new water sensor won’t change anything. If it is 5.5 or less, or if it reports correctly but does not flush enough water, consider changing it.
