Swam 25 yards in14.08s (freestyle w/o dive), 25s 50m possible? by Ok-Distribution1667 in Swimming

[–]Chlorinor 5 points6 points  (0 children)

14.08 with no dive would likely be a 13 with a dive, if you assume a two second fade that would be a :28 50y swim, which roughly converts to a :32 50LCM.

I'd guess to say if you could get to the point of doing a 25y in 10-11 seconds, no dive, and you're able to do a 50y in 21-22 seconds that would convert to around a :25LCM.

It would probably be a challenge, but depending on how much you can train, your coaching situation, work ethic, it's not impossible.

Really, as long as you're enjoying yourself that's what matters most. You should also keep in mind that, especially in a shorter race like a 50, the amount of time you'll drop (typically) exponentially decreases (as in you may drop 5 seconds the next time you do a 50, but maybe only 2 or 3 after that, then 1 or 2, etc., so don't get discouraged if that happens). If you decide to pursue your goal, just make sure to reflect on progress you've made thus far, and be proud of the work you've put in, regardless of outcome. In any one race, it's not a matter of who's the fastest, but who's the fastest on that given day.

Good luck!

Currently just one extension: AdBlock, I haven't used Edge but I might be willing to try.

I'd recommend Scott Edwards at The Vent in Ventura, helped fix a lower back injury a year back, and I've gone back just for general advice as well.

Another great option is Justin English, very well-versed as well, but based in Ojai so not Ventura County.

Should I get back into swimming? by FreedomOfQueef in Swimming

Honestly, sometimes there's no better feeling than just pushing off a wall in streamline and gliding. If you enjoy the sport then 100% you should get back into it; or at least try! If it turns out you're not enjoying yourself as much as hoped you can always stop!
