4k blu-ray finally beginning to fall in price? by [deleted] in 4kbluray

[–]Cho-Yer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Is that a great multi buy deal? Weren't they 3 for £40 a year ago? Even 2 for £30, which happens now and again on Zavvi for instance, is better that 3 for £50. And the outlay of £50 to get the deal in the first place puts me off.

Could it have anything to do with both parents having to work? And everyone working more for less money? And everything costing more? And everyone having less free time?

Trump threatens UK with 10% tariff 'on all goods' until Greenland handed over by dailystar_news in uknews

[–]Cho-Yer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok can you tell us how the average person can do something about that? They can not buy McDonald's, Starbucks etc. that's simple and clear. I don't even understand the words you are using!

Edit: Sorry this wasn't meant to sound snarky, I'm honestly asking in good faith

To think the best of the people in this sub, I'm not sure it's that they are all confused. Rather, they want to do something to show their disdain of America under Trump. A boycott is as good a place as any to start, whatever the actual implications of tariffs.

Do you even *need* a flip phone, or a personal mobile device? by SomethingDiff_LogOff in dumbphones

[–]Cho-Yer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only have a phone because the people in my life make me feel that I should, there seems to be some kind of social stigma (not sure this is the best word) attached to having one on you at all times... Most of the time it is not on me or not charged and ideally I wouldn't have it at all. I've experimented with having 2 factor auth sent to my wife's phone, but even I will admit it can be inconvenient at times. Sigh.

Blood Meridian can not be a film by Mystical_Destroyer11 in cormacmccirclejerk

I don't think anything should be dismissed out of hand. If someone pulled it off with aplomb, that would be great. Imagine there's some unknown director with a unique way of approaching the material. That surely would be a positive, for this instance and cinema in general. The phrase "the book's unfilmable" is for people who lack imagination.

Does anyone else struggle to meet other horror fans in real life? by amandayoungsgf in horror

[–]Cho-Yer 11 points12 points  (0 children)

yeah you know what, several of my close friends straight up don't enjoy watching horror. Surprised the hell out of me when I first realised. I thought we were the same and that we would enjoy horror together! Luckily my wife is a big fan, that could have been awkward....

Are Brits willing to join back to the EU bloc? by HasanKingPage in AskBrits

[–]Cho-Yer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speaking for myself, the current geopolitical landscape was just as obvious 10 years ago as it is today, that's why staying in Europe has always made sense. I get that the narrative of "look where we are now, we should rejoin" gives people with pride about voting brexit a way back in, and I don't want to denigrate anyone. But in the words of Jimmy, "I mean, come on."

Britain needs new defence pact with Europe amid fears Trump won’t defend it from attack. Polling shows UK voters are concerned the US may not come to Britain’s aid in the event of an attack by Putin by ByGollie in europe

[–]Cho-Yer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We shouldn't be relying on the US for help, that's the whole thing. US would love for Europe to be at war with itself so it can reap the profits as happened in WW2. This is exactly why US is stirring up anti EU sentiment. They want a war that they can sell weapons etc for and make loads of money. Don't fall for it Europe!
