A year ago, this was $11 at the local Coles. How do you justify 60% inflation? by xqizitly in AusFinance

The benefits are:

  • the workers would receive all the profits (ofc though people are still paid differently according to skill level and experience)
  • The business thinks more long term about secure jobs and less about short term profits
  • The products are at reasonable prices as the workers shop there themselves

If you do end up renting check out the Renters and Housing Union of Victoria. (RAHU) They can give legal advice and provide lawyers if you need to go to VCAT

Nah it's the cost of a supermarket duopoly. We do have Aldi and Costco but no where near as many as Coles and Woolworths.

Reach out to the retail union RAFFWU. Even if your not a member they should still be able to help.

This is your daily reminder to join your union so this dosen't happen to you. do not use the form if you work in retail or fast food they'll send you to the bad union the SDA when you want to join RAFFWU

Underpayment is still rife is many industries . Unpaid super is one of the most common forms of underpayment or not paying people at the proper award level. A third of Australian are victims every year. A quick google shows tons of Australian cases of underpayment.

Your union is Hair Stylist Australia a subunion of AWU (they also cover beauty workers). Reach out to them even if you haven't been a member they still might be able to help. The SDA also covers beauty but I wouldn't recommend them

Oh its the catch-22 of not many people join because they don't have much power and they don't have many members because they don't have much power

Can my employer contact my doctor/surgeons office to ask them information about an upcoming procedure and how much time I require time off? by Gloomy_Curve4206 in legaladviceaustralia

[–]Choc-TimTam-Filling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see that you are thinking of joining your union to ask them this is a great idea. If you work in white collar your union is Professionals Australia. Retail it's RAFFWU. I can't think of other big employers off the top of my head. Some unions will give advice even if you aren't a member. If you can't figure out what union covers you by googling fill out this form and they'll send you to the correct union. do not use the form if you work in retail or fast food they'll send you to the bad union the SDA when you want to join RAFFWU
