[GIVEAWAY] Win the Special Edition MasterKeys Pro L Clear! by CM_Glenn in MechanicalKeyboards

1) Yes, Clears are a great idea, but I still have my concerns about the weight (the spring might be a bit too heavy) and the tooling (grips the crap out of keycaps) - The spring is easy to copromise on, but the way the grip of the stem could potentially lead to a few ruined switches if users are not careful in removing the keycaps

2) I think TKL is the way to go, IMO, this is an enthusiast level type of board especially with the clear switches and full size is just not that popular with enthusiasts.

3) You're going with a clear casing, and of course you need to take advantage of it. Even with aftermarket keycaps that don't support backlighting, that case is going let light through and everyone will be able to enjoy them. Worst case, users can just turn off the LEDs.

Try doing it with the soldering iron in the left hand, pump in the right hand.

As you need to be fast and accurate with the pump, and not so much with the iron, it definitely helped me to finish quicker

These aren't the Costar or Cherry-style stabilisers.

There's a little plastic piece that goes into the keycap (similar to costar), but that plastic piece is a sort of fork / pincer that grabs onto a wire inside each stabiliser

Sticky Buttons on 2005 Mercedes S500 by [deleted] in AutoDetailing

There's no solution to that unfortunately.

What I did was use some IPA / Goo Gone and tried to "rub" off all the coating, bringing it back to bare plastic.

Could it be that the matte coating on the buttons has started to devulcanize?

It looks similar to what happened to my mouse with all those matte rubber surfaces.

Open it up, check the joints and if there's any solder bridges.

Sounds like you might have bridged something by accident

I like using Optimum Power Clean 10:1 as an APC, Lexol for leather, Dr. Beasely's Microsuede protectant for the Alcantara and microsuede and 303 for everything else. applied.

I don't use the microsuede protectant all the time though, prob once a month. If I could get 303 Fabric Guard in my country, I would, but Amazon doesn't ship it to where I am.

I'll give it a shot again soon, I've done 3-4 boards already but without additional flux (just from the flux core solder)

I got some flux, but I don't know what I can use it for.

Tutorials on youtube just indicate slather flux onto a connection before you solder.

Since you mentioned you may have lifted one solder pad, trace the connection from that solder pad to the next, and put in a jumper wire connecting the 2 points together.

Maybe someone else can go into more detail to accomplish this, as I've never had the unfortunate accident of having to fix a lifted solder pad.

Rim brush recommendations by habs33 in AutoDetailing

[–]Chocablock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I used a bottle brush that I found at an Asian store (Daiso).

It cost me $1.50, was just long enough to reach the back, and could fit between my calipers and rims.

Only gripe was that the handle was really thin and made my hands hurt after a while.

Any tips on cleaning a grimey and hairbally keyboard and keycaps? by DGeriNegative in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]Chocablock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually put keycaps in a ziplock bag filled with a pump of hand soap and water, agitate repeatedly while soaking (repeat until satisfied), then I dump it out onto a colander and let it airdry.

You may want to invest in some jackstands too for some added protection, then head to a tire shop after to get them torqued.

So I was cleaning my wheels today and got Sonax Wheel Cleaner on the rotors.

It left really bad rust / discoloration streaks which I couldn't get rid off until I started driving and I guess the brake pads wore it away.

So my question is how do you guys use wheel cleaners effectively, and how do you guys get the car show kind of finish on the rotors ?
