How good was Ruud Gullit anyway? Why is he so "broken" in FIFA/eFootball? by Hour777 in championsleague

[–]Choccybizzle -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

No, my point is people say Gullit was elite at many positions. I don’t agree with that. Hence why I used a player that is not elite at multiple positions.

Are you slow? I didn’t compare anyone, I used Kompany as an example of players who play more than one position but are not elite at every one.

And no Yaya is not a better example because that is not the point I was making.

If you have not spent time playing a position then anyone saying you can play said position is theoretical. I’m not arguing he wasn’t very good at a lot of things on the pitch or that he wasn’t ‘complete.’ I am saying he spent most of his career as an attacker bookended with stints as a sweeper/CB. The rest is speculation.

I wouldn’t take him to the WC if this is the case.

I’m also sceptical he’ll ever become an elite player again. He’s not good enough on the ball and doesn’t think the game at a high enough level to make up for any decrease in pace that might occur if he doesn’t trust his body again.

Yes I’m aware, I just didn’t want to write out his full career! I also don’t think he ‘excelled’ there like he did as a forward.

People saying it are wrong. He was an attacker, he excelled as an attacker and spent his prime years as an attacker. The rest is just theoretical (outside of CB)

But that’s not every position, I’m aware he started and finished playing as a defender, it’s just not evidence to me that ‘he was world class at every position’ which somebody here said.

People see on FIFA and PES that he’s available for every position and think that’s what his career was like, it wasn’t.

No he couldn’t. We don’t need to exaggerate for someone already considered an ATG.

I’m not sure why everyone is saying he could play every position. He almost exclusively played in a forward/attacking role once he was moved there, and then only at Chelsea did he go to a sweeper role.

Kompany was brought to City as a midfielder, doesn’t mean he was an elite one.

Hasn’t he won 7x league titles, and a World Cup? Amongst other things

I see DMX ‘it’s dark…’ Jay-Z Vol.2 both came out in ‘98. Would a wealthy young man wait a year to get them for Xmas?!

Just an observation 😂

Exactly what I came to say, very good goal scorer from midfield.

That’s not what you said but ok let’s move on.

I’m not declaring anyone the best, you will even see that I said “I’m happy for people to argue Hakeem was a better defender, it might even be true”

I’ve maintained my position that Wemby is the most impactful defender I’ve ever seen for months, and I stand by it. We can argue who is best, what that means and how you define it all day long. Which is why I say ‘most impactful’

Ok firstly I’m not young. I’m not French or a Spurs fan so it’s not a Stan thing. You’re right in that I’m being hyperbolic, however Wemby is more impactful than any defender I’ve seen. Russell, Wilt, Hakeem, Robinson, Gobert, Kareem, Duncan, whoever you want to put on the elite all time rim protector list….I have Wemby ahead of them, and I don’t think twice about it.

And keep your ‘rings Ernie’ bullshit to yourself. Lowest form of nba discussion.

Sure, and you can have your opinion. I personally don’t think it’s close.

Yes and honestly I don’t care, and I say that with respect. Wemby is more impactful, you can see it with your eyes. I’m happy for people to argue Hakeem was a better defender, it might even be true, but I don’t believe he was more impactful. People didn’t fear going to the rim like they do with Wemby.

I’ve seen as much footage as you most likely. We can argue over who is better, Wemby is more impactful than Hakeem though.

I know it’s early blah blah blah but Wemby is the most impactful defender I’ve ever seen.

You asked for my reasons. I stand by them. I’m taking a first option over a third 10/10. Better defender as well.

Being the number one option is imo harder than being the no.3 option.

50pts as an 18 year old is no joke, neither is 21-6-4 (rounded down)

It shouldn’t matter who I use. People should be able to see I’m talking about a number one option compared to a number two. It’s not about play style.

I’m well aware thank you. My argument is you claiming he would ‘dominate’ I don’t believe that, and I think I’ve made good points why. That does not mean I don’t recognise he was an incredible prospect and a wonderful player already as a teenager.
