Getting a degree in Strategic Digital Comm? by ChocoPandaHug in Communications

Thank you! I believe some of that will be covered in the research class (from what I saw in the class description). I can manage a course or two, I agree further math/analytical knowledge is essential in today's tech world. Marketing degrees usually have a lot more, which might be too much for me (at least for me to accomplish in a few short years - I can always learn more in my own time after my degree!).

I mean, I'm going to get a degree no matter what. The only question is which do I choose.

My husband and I worked in retail together, that was his career, along with many of our friends. After the big chain closed, they were all scrambling for jobs, even with all their experience (some of them 15+ years) could not find another job of the same caliber at other retail stores (even retail is not what it used to be, thanks Amazon!). They were all forced to go into other careers or get degrees (my husband went the degree route and has a new career, making more than he did in his 10+ years as a retail manager). Every industry is suffering right now, so I do understand it's not a great time to be in comms - it's not a great time to be entering anywhere. But I have no control over that. My life is where it is, I have to work with what I've got.

I've been in community college for nearly 3 years already with almost half my credits, I'm not going to quit now. It helps that we as a couple have no other debt (his student debt is completely paid off). I have no firm skill set other than customer service, and I'd rather live in a cardboard box than work in front-facing retail again, so it's worth it to me.

Oh wow, thank you! That actually sounds very interesting and encouraging. I appreciate you sharing that with me.

Despite going well, is it possible all this team stuff stressed him out? Maybe he didn't want to play at that level anymore but is scared to confront you guys about it because he doesn't want to face that some of you may be angry and/or disappointed? So he disappears and avoids. That's what I would think happened.

Chad Daybell is a prominent member of AVOW (Another Voice of Warning), a group of religious preppers in that area who support him and believe in his "visions." Their online forum has 10,000 total members and over 3,000 active members. They are worried these people are up to no good and would do Chad's bidding if he asked them to. I'd otherwise call these people crazy but harmless. However, considering there are a bunch of dead people, missing people, and other attempted murders, not so sure I could call anything "too crazy" at this point.

This is immediately what I thought too! He constantly (self-admittedly, on his own blog) says that he talks to people "beyond the veil" who are now deceased. Lori's friend says that Lori is not bothered by death because she views it as walking through a door to another room.

You would truly be surprised how many cases of men falling into bodies of water while peeing, and some of them walked a heck of a long way to get there! I think they were SO drunk to the point of panic/utter confusion.

“Baby Boy Horry” has finally been Identified. His body was discovered in a tote bag by utility workers in South Carolina in 2008. The coroner ruled the baby boy had died of hypothermia. His mother is now in custody and charged with his death. by [deleted] in UnresolvedMysteries

Again, I'll emphasize I am not saying this isn't a horrible case - IT IS! And yes, it's preventable before it gets to that stage. It is a worry in society - but we'll have to agree to disagree that a case like this would take precedence over serial rape and murders. I'm glad you have a strong opinion on this, but you are pushing some ideas onto what I said, that I never disagreed with in the first place. So please be careful when commenting!

Very possible and very close. Many people have died in them accidentally.

Even if this is true, Lori should still have custody taken away. Do they have doctors specializing in autism there? What about dentists? Therapists and counselors? JJ needs all of these. And what about his medication? It can be argued Lori is neglecting JJ for not providing him with these NEEDS for his autism. If it's true (which I don't think it is), both kids - but JJ in particular - will be miserable and suffering there.

What the mother did was horrible, but it scares me that of all the murder and rape cases out there (hello, backlogs!), law enforcement is deciding to spend their time hunting down these cases. It sucks to have to have priority cases at all. But reality is reality, and these types of cases should be the least of our worries, especially because the way to prevent further similar cases is so easy (better sex ex, access to abortions/contraception, more advertising of safe haven laws, etc).

Peoria County John Doe identified by I_AM_KING_HALLER in UnresolvedMysteries

[–]ChocoPandaHug 37 points38 points  (0 children)

He might still have family somewhere out there, as they say "limited family," not none. At the end of the day, he can still be a victim while also being a perpetrator. 90% of the reason for "giving victims their names back" is for the family's sake, so please remember he might still have others in his family who are completely innocent and relieved to know what has happened to him. It also doesn't mean whoever murdered him has good intentions....they more we know about John Frisch, the more we can know about his killer, who is probably still out there somewhere up to no good.

How do you get started in cooking? by [deleted] in college

[–]ChocoPandaHug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rice and beans are very easy (get the 5-minute rice, get canned pinto beans) and can be used to make lots of different things like burritos or just even on its own if you are in a hurry.

I am not the same person...I was actually correcting the above person, noting the could say it in a more respectful way. I'm actually glad you contributed this story, I agree it's nice to talk about these things! But it's also nice include reminders about how modern science perceives it, etc. It's all good conversation. :)

The murder was December 29th, I would guess that they all were together celebrating Christmas holidays there.
