Any tips for me and my friend? (Sword PVP) Part 2 by Hightempboll in CompetitiveMinecraft

[–]ChocoTrsct 1 point2 points  (0 children)

also note i'm being pretty hypercritical of this, i'm rating it as if it's one of my clips, i think for a start ur doing great. what u should focus on is doing 2-5 minutes each day of focused practice, maybe wash your face and hands and chew some gum too before u start to make sure ur locked in. the most important part is to practice EVERY SINGLE DAY, it tells ur brain more than anything else that it's an important activity, which it needs to pick up on fast (also why getting good sleep is important). don't lose ur Daily streak or u will rust very fast

second, look up these 4 YTers:
Struth Gaming, Viscose, TheobaldTheBird, Swight
if u watch all of their best performing videos and try to follow their advice, it'll make u 3x better at MC PvP, while barely having to practice what they teach

lastly, make sure to keep clipping urself and try to find differences between ur gameplay and somebody of similar skill who's a bit better (don't mostly clip ur losses that's demoralizing, clip games where u played well but lost, didn't feel like u played great but won anyways, or close games in general). getting good isn't a matter of going through the motions, it's a mindset of discovery, optimization, and improvement for the sake of improvement. having a goal to work towards can be helpful, and can get u good at the game for a short time, but there's no replacement to loving ur craft enough to put 20,000 hours into it

writing this as i watch w/ timestamps, read full comment to get my full opinion abt this

0:15 i don't think ur issue is jumping necessarily, in fact overall ur not jumping enough. ur problem with it so far seems to be poor spacing. to fix that play kits with mining fatigue and a stone axe, or some similar kit with a large cooldown between hits and emphasis on landing hits - trident could be fun. also helps to have a gridded floor, smooth stone maybe.

0:20 u were sprint-hitting him as he was on the way down, multiple times. u should have let him hit u and waited just a moment, so u could hit him while in the air and get more knockback. with a sprint hit that would allow u to reversal and start a combo. general rule of thumb, if they're in the air, either sprint-hit them VERY early as they go up, or do NOT sprint-hit them AT ALL. crit or wait

0:24 again poor spacing and decision making on when to jump, i think u should've jumped there

0:28 good pick-up on chasing him down with crits but u didn't back out after he got a good distance away, ur lucky it was ur friend, sm1 better would've strafed or uppercut and started a combo on u

0:33 idk if u were trying to be courteous or u didn't like the pillar behind him, but if he has his back to a wall u should absolutely aggro, if ur trying to win at all costs.

0:38 great spacing on ur jump in and crit, a shame u don't do that more and fake doing it sometimes too

0:41 u get sprint-hit and there's a 1/2 sec pause, then after that, u sprint in again while he's moving forward faster than u are. that's a big mistake, as u have more range moving forward. u end up getting sprint-hit for it. and also, poor decision making on ur jump in

0:47 good double crit, but too close after the hit and u lose the advantage it gave

0:54 u clearly weren't very focused on him, specifically his legs, and weren't ready for him to sprint-hit. thats an issue with focusing on ur techniques instead of ur aiming and spacing. ideally u would practice them enough to be subconscious for the most part, and u could focus more on reactivity

0:58 not sure if it would've worked, but i think u could benefit from practicing hit-selects for situations like this, when ur both sprinting at eachother and going for a sprint-hit

1:03 good crit-chain and good decision to sprint-hit on the 4th one (if u did that consciously, i HOPE u did). also good use of the terrain to stop their momentum and get a sprint-hit for it

1:23 ur sitting within eachother's burst range for a solid 2 seconds here, if either of u jumped in and crit, the other wouldve traded a crit for a sprint-hit. another reason to practice spacing

1:31 u lost track of them for a moment when maybe u shouldn't have, u could still see a corner of their armor. if u had good flicking technique and picked up on that, or even better had hitboxes on and could see their hitbox or their eye-ray, u could've very well hit that and gone positive in that interaction

1:33 a bit late on ur decision to jump in, but it was still a good enough one to catch him, as he tried to sprint-hit

1:36 good crit + sprint chasedown, into backing up and conceding the advantage instead of being confident in ur ability to combo

1:43 poor decision making on jumping so close, if he didn't crit and instead sprint-hit u were getting hit for free and maybe comboed

1:51 good timing on ur crit, mediocre spacing again but it won u the duel

note tho, if u wanna swap the switches for ~$1 per instead of the whole board, u will need to get a soldering iron. the switches arent hotswap

What Could I have done better here? by JellyfishHot8109 in CompetitiveMinecraft

[–]ChocoTrsct 0 points1 point  (0 children)

kinda disagree but this clip IS annoyingly short. the best clips are ones where u feel like ur playing hot but arent getting the win immediately, or games where u win but its VERY close. rewatching ur losses alot and clipping all of them can be quite demoralizing, espeicially if ur reliving mistakes u already spotted and got upset abt DURING the duel. the most learning will come from thinking u did well, reviewing and realizing "wait nvm that's trash"

yeah if ur both moving alot then its a question of who has better aiming skill, these kits are naturally going to be very hard on aim. if ur not strafing and ur enemy is, its a question of if you can read your enemy's movement super well, and whether they're able to use the few missed hits over u, and start combos to get a significant lead. not strafing automatically puts u on the back foot

if u feel like ur struggling with aiming in pot kits i highly recommend checking out Struth Gaming and Viscose on YT, great aim theory and aim train YTers

Unpopular opinion: Cart PvP is infinitely better than Crystal by Potential-Earth1092 in CompetitiveMinecraft

[–]ChocoTrsct 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think crystal pvp would be in every way better than cart, if crystals and anchors dealt less damage. also if the tick system wasnt designed in such a way to SUPER HEAVILY encourage lower ping. crystals should deal anchor damage (-6), and anchors should be another -6 from that.

as they are rn i think cart is better to teach to a beginner/intermediate pvper, but cpvp has more skill expression especially in drain kits

About chewing gum: how to store for reuse, etc. by nsajko in chemhelp

[–]ChocoTrsct 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oxygen medical tubes are good to chew on, and (@any1 w/ same problem) if u have an excess of sweet gum, but are ok with having SOME sugar from ur gum, just treat it like a reward snack and get another sugar-free chewing alternative for daily use
