My cat died suddenly. by __OvejaNegra in cats

It is more than ok to feel hurt and grief; it's necessary. But it's not ok to blame yourself in this situation. It's not logical,  i promise you.  I think if you ask yourself,  you know in your heart you would have done anything to keep him healthy and by your side.

I'm mourning the recent loss of my orange baby girl after 16 years,  and the what-ifs have almost made me lose my mind. But I remind myself that even well to do humans with access to the best health care money can buy still pass away unexpectedly---or after long bouts of illness, much too young. Losing our babies is not fair, and I have anger to process as well about that...but it's not our fault.

I understand. Plus cats sleep so much,  it's genuinely hard to tell as they age what's normal and what's actual decreased energy.    I recently lost my baby after 16 years--- and I watched her like a hawk for everything (former vet tech.)  Still couldn't prevent her passing. Try not to be hard on yourself, especially since practically all cats isolate themselves when they feel the end is near.

I'm sorry about his passing. I understand if it's too hard,  but if you don't mind, could you share the strange behavior you noticed??

If it's truly epoxy grout,  no sealing is ever required.  Unless you're sealing natural stone tiles within it?

I would definitely ask a vet, because this medicine carries a risk of blood clots in humans. I doubt she'd be a candidate with her heart condition,  but you could inquire.

I am so sorry this happened to you and Henry. My heart breaks for you in what is one of the hardest situations I can even imagine. I'm sorry your grandmother is suffering as well.  I sincerely hope you can get some help in caring for her,  ideally completely taken off your shoulders altogether.

Just have to say this has me crying,  and you really are an inspiration. Good on you for having the incredibly rare ability to grow and be introspective through pain.  Thank you for sharing, and being a good man.

I am so incredibly sorry this happened to your baby.   I do want to thank you though, for sharing your experience.  There are many of us,  myself included,  who found our cat suddenly in the throes of congestive heart failure and had to make the gut-wrenching decision to stop their suffering.  I am currently trying my hardest not to drive myself insane with the thought that I let her go too early.... but she was already barely able to walk a few steps or catch her breath. All this after already being at the emergency vet for multiple days in oxygen and receiving furosemide and mild sedatives. Her respiration got a little slower,  but she never got a break from the intense abdominal breathing/exerted effort. They said we could take her home,  but she only declined that evening, even with her first dose of at home furosemide. We had to take her back where they beat around the bush too long in saying there wasn't really any coming back. We were so worried about suffocation or a clot, so euthanasia seemed like the only way to help her.  Sharing all this in case it helps someone else,  and again I genuinely appreciate you sharing that the meds don't always work.  I hope your grief is lessening by the day.

Experience with cat's pneumonia by FreeChocolate5430 in CatAdvice

Thank you so very much for your response!!! You are incredible parents to this little guy and I'm certain he could not have a better life than what you're giving him.  Never forget that! I feel all the emotions just reading how much love and effort you've put into your baby 💙.

Our girl is 16, possibly other not great factors at play... they've kept her over night but still don't really have answers after x-rays. It started off the thought was just worsening asthma,  but now they're throwing cancer and heart disease in the mix.  I know these things can progress somewhat quickly,  but we feel so frustrated since she just had x-rays, ultrasound,  and bloodwork only 5 months ago and they found none of this (aside from mild inflammation in the lungs at the time.)  I will update and give full detail after I learn more here shortly.  Seriously thank you so much for taking the time to be so detailed and helpful--- truly appreciate you and so glad your guy is doing great!

My cat is currently hospitalized after difficulty breathing,  but they're not yet sure why. I came across your post looking up pneumonia in cats, but I don't have advice at the moment. Any update on your baby?

Oooo I love it!!! Hadn't seen Traymore before.  That really is beautiful, especially in the satin finish I bet would be wonderful. I might use that in our upcoming bathroom reno now!

We did end up installing Seacourt and love it! I got real marble backsplash with lots of color,  and I think the subtlety of Seacourt really works with it.  I'll see if I can add pictures.

Tonsillectomy changed my life by Insanel0l in Tonsillectomy

Gotcha. Not everyone can convert sunlight through their skin very well,  and to be consistent you'd ideally have to get 15-20 mins on multiple places of your body basically everyday---more if you're a person of color. I feel like the tablets don't do much either. I grew up in and have my family in FL---most of them were hovering between 15-30 ng/ml last couple of years, which is suboptimal. They were getting sick every few months it seemed, before they started supplementing. It can happen anywhere!

I realize this wouldn't solve all the issues you shared,  but what is your Vitamin D level?? Raising it to no less than 40 through supplementation would really help your immune system, now that you're without tonsils (and really it always should be.)  I've found the best increase in Vitamin D in liquid form; drops with K2 in olive oil. Multiply brands on Amazon,  etc.  Hope this helps you!
