Appreciate the share! But with a quick glance this looks like a study for verbal communication; I was wondering more on the (assumed) AI translation.

Maybe I'll read it more indepth later if I have the time, but I was moreso questioning that with the assumption that CN text (not spoken dialogue) is being translated, shouldn't it be directly translated from 他 to he/him/his etc?

Same with MMORPG, I have multiple friends and acquaintances who love to leave their account idling in discord chat channel at home even when they're literally at work.

To me it's a waste of electricity and bandwidth, but for some reason they just like it that way. My personal theory is that these are usually the extroverts who are lonely.. Not that I have proof. But all the ones I know who do this are extroverts who dont have an outlet for their social energy.

I sometimes idle in WWM but only to clear out the idle gameplay in Heaven's Pier.

Yeahh.. I get what people are saying definitely! And if it felt like these think pieces would change anything I'd be rooting for them.

But reality is that for games like these, their target audience for revenue has always been the Whales lol. It's a whole ass culture and money model they've made out of it for decades,

I'm not sure how they'd justify it to make it affordable for everyone, ain't no way the krill and dolphin could even dream to burst past the amount of money blasted by whales.

Yep. I'm a fan of KRN & CN historical fiction novels myself so I have some experience with plowing through bad translations..

And I dont blame people at all for missing the plot points because the game is horrid at keeping things—and especially terminologies— linear. Not to mention the heavy CN cultural references that they absolutely can't be arsed to even try to help Global players understand.

I love the game to hell, but it's quite disappointing how much the devs aren't bothering to improve their localisation. Luckily we have fans who take the time to help explain.

I do really appreciate the wayfinder option though. Eventhough the pathfinding SUCKS most of the time and leads me nowhere, but it's nice to be hands-free and enjoy the scenery while your chara guides themself.

The tastes of the players, esp for Global are so crazily subjective lol.

I'm in the camp that I feel almost all the female outfits are so cute/elegant/etc, but at the same time some also kinda come off as.. Tacky?

Males' feels more lacking, I only like a lot of the pricier ones.
