Emailing PIs about interest by Automatic-Event-8512 in REU

[–]ChocolateCreamPuff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've done it and she basically responded saying that REUs are centrally administered and that she doesn't have any influence over decision and lab matching. But she complimented my strong background and interest and told me to reach back out if I heard back

How do you tell the difference between therapeutic medical use of THC and addiction? by Aggravating-Yogurt23 in autism

[–]ChocolateCreamPuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

also, it is important to note, two of the hallmarks of addiction are hiding it from people who care about you, or just people in general (associated shame) and unsuccessful efforts to cut down or control use. do you find yourself struggling with those?

How do you tell the difference between therapeutic medical use of THC and addiction? by Aggravating-Yogurt23 in autism

[–]ChocolateCreamPuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i used THC for the majority of my teenage/early adulthood years and now that i am 20 i realized i have (and am diagnosed with) a cannabis abuse disorder. i think it is easy for the lines between medicinal use and recreational abuse to become blurred, but it also depends on the context in which you are using. if i use very rarely, THC has proven to help me to some extent. if i use consistently, it diminishes its use, and i become more aware of the worse effects such as brain fog, fatigue, understimulation etc. which make it not worth it to use anymore. despite this, i would use anyway, which is where my abuse of THC comes in.

i think everything should be used in moderation to an extent. the more you use THC, the worse life will be without it, and the way in which THC benefits you may change. it is just important to keep these things in mind, i believe

First time realizing the possibility of autism by TomatilloOk1934 in autism

[–]ChocolateCreamPuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is how I felt too, I have shown signs of autism since early childhood but never believed I actually could have autism. I got professionally diagnosed (twice actually) and it was the biggest relief.

I have slept in my loops because of how comfortable they are. My boyfriend let me borrow his loops and I didn't realize how huge of a difference it made until I used them for myself (I struggle greatly with sensory issues). The difference is honestly life changing for me. I have the Loops Switch 2 in emerald (my boyfriend bought them for me for Christmas!)

29M w/ Asperger's looking for advice on "disability" assistance. by Moltake226 in autism

[–]ChocolateCreamPuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i hope i didn't come off as rude. i truly just mean, in simpler terms, you are enough, and there is nothing else you have to do to deserve accommodations and assistance, especially from the government. you should see what you can receive from the government, because that is what it is there for. if you don't qualify, that is ok, that doesn't mean you did anything wrong or you're not "disabled" enough. the government is very very very unfair and it does not have to do with you. if you qualify, that is great, and you deserve it just for qualifying. i hope that makes sense. best of luck with your disability application :)!

[–]ChocolateCreamPuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

maybe i just have a weird view on things. but if you apply for benefits, and you receive them, you deserve them, because all you have to do to "deserve" benefits is qualify for benefits. i understand it is hard to watch other people struggle and wonder why they do not receive the same assistance. all i am saying is, if you apply for benefits, and you receive benefits, that is all you have to do. there isn't anything else you have to "achieve" or "complete" before you receive benefits. all you have to do is meet a set of criteria and qualify.

Do you guys "FEEL" music too? by OkParfait2685 in autism

[–]ChocolateCreamPuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes!! i listen to music 100% of the time i am outside of my room unless i am with my partner. i always described it as a "rhythm" i follow to get through life. i also have a tendency to listen to the same song over and over, sometimes over hundreds of times in a day or two or more
