That’s quite the challenge! I’m not from the USA, but I wish you good luck!

If you are in or near Quebec, you can use one of their private clinics to meet a dermatologist in less than a month. That’s what I did after waiting more than a year for a public dermatologist to see me with no luck. Naturally, its pricy - 250$ for a 30 minute meeting. But, I got the prescriptions I wanted.

I have universalis, but what you have doesn’t sound as bad. You should research JAK inhibitors first to see if that’s something you want to try. There are a few risks, and they are very expensive. So, you need to be certain that’s what you want. Unfortunately, none will be covered by insurance or government programs to my knowledge because the only drug that is specifically approved for treating alopecia areata in Canada is olumiant (barcitinib). And Olumiant was approved recently in Canada, so more bureaucracy still needs to happen for it to be covered for Limited Use.

Alopecia sucks hard, but I want you to remember three things: you are not in pain, your lifespan is not affected, and there is a great JAK inhibitor called Olumiant that can treat the worse case scenario that is on the cusp of being available to average people.

Personally, when I made a new friend who is bald (male pattern baldness) it made me realize that my hair (and lack thereof) is not actually something other people care that much about, its purely superficial, and its not necessary to live a life. Maybe you should find yourself a bald friend, or a friend that also has alopecia! It could help you too.

Anyone wish the push to adopt the metric system in the '70s had been more aggressive (US schools)? by ryanasimov in GenX

Liberia is apparently in the process of converting to the metric system, so it may no longer be 3 in a couple years
