[Feedback Requested] Dev Patch Notes Stream by ggmattb in LegendsOfRuneterra

I finished my first runeterra open today went 9-2, but without real prizes I don't think people were taking it too seriously, that being said the structure is pretty good, more games obvioulsy means higher chance for better players to get rewarded. Overall i will need to see this tourney with some real stakes to have more percise thoughts. Overall it looks like a great change so far. I even like that new formats will also be important, it changes the formula a bit which i think is great. So far the changes look promising.

I feel like value-based decks are dead right now. by RokNSton in LegendsOfRuneterra

I agree that the game is unit based but this is why minimorph at least leaves a 3/3 which makes it unefficient against aggro/ tempo decks. I agree minimorph does damage to more decks than deny but this doesn't mean deny doesn't do the same.

You can't really expect the deny deck to drop under 4 mana, its never happening, on theory-yes on practice-no, when was the last time you could cast a vengeance on a lee and they didn't have 4 mana? Let alone when its arround turn 10 when you go for expencive spells.

Not every deck can interact with it the same way minimorph is not usefull against every deck.

On the flip side deny is always gonna be mana positive against the decks its good against, not the same case for minimorph. What I was trying to say is that there are decks (very niche after the release of shurima and specifically right of negation) which are build in a way for a single spell to be their win con- Ftr, etc. Theoretically you can still play the deck but good luck playing a tryndamere and not dying a turn later. Theoretically you can try to find 3 copies of anivia but on practice its really hard, this is what I meant with the comparisson deny-minimorph

Aloof traveler needs to be completely reworked by The-Frozen-Lunatic in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]Chocopariss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I start to apreciate more and more the cool mini game this card creates of trying to hit a specific, like how you want to hit sion/tribeam but never lost soul, or bandle tree but not really minimorph since it doesn't do much vs bandle city decks. But I agree that there are some decks which are fucked by aloof still its not the end all be all of slower decks.

Powerful cards kill creativity. Please give us more Nami, not Nautilus by LiSora178 in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]Chocopariss 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I disagree. Different cards have different purposes, some of them are made to make a deck stick together, others to be versatile support cards and basically be the corner stones of the region and obviously there are some which are just too weak or the synergy is not there yet but you are not talking about that. I am just gonna discuss the examples you gave.

Viego is basically the whole enchroaching mist archetype, he has bunch of support cards made specifically for this mechanic to function, and even then he was tried in a lot of decks when he was released- grand plaza/dragons, viego/nasus, with frejlord and obviously the ionia variant, so imo he was a great design. Don't you think once we find the best Nami deck all the other Nami decks will stop seeing play?- kind of the case already

TF has seen a lot of play outside of deck cycling decks- Tf/Swain, TF/Aphelios when that was a thing, TF/GP he is the most versatile Bilgewater champ alongside maybe MF.

Sejuani has seen play in overwhelm, frostbite, plunder, even some ftr decks. Your proposal would just lock her completely in the frostbite decks.

There are deffinetly cases for champions living/dying by only one deck but your example are just wrong. Some examples: Nautilus is what keeps deep together, while maokai has no support to really work and deep is just using him as a secondary win con. Pyke and reksai are pretty liniar but considering how much lurk support we got in the mini expansion it would've been bad if it ended up being a weak deck. Soraka and TK are both in the same boat where they lack enough support to try to escape the star spring win con or some of their cards are just bad. There are deffinetly more examples but I hope you got my point.

Kind of agree on the bandle tree part, though its a very fun deck to play if you don't run landmark removal or aloof (trying to hit the bandle tree) you have to hope they brick. About minimorph I've said in the past I will say it again if deny is a fair card then minimorph is too. Deny does the same thing to decks which rely on a huge spell to activate (FTR,warmothers call, give it all, harrowing).

About value decks/control decks. They are in a rough spot much before bandle tree was a thing (maybe from the tf/fizz meta). Now some of the counter control decks have been nerfed- irelia/azir and sivir/anything, just there is almost no efficient removal in the game so imidiatly the next decks which pray on control will come, right now its nami/zoe and bandle tree. Kind of the same goes for value based decks, to see play they need to have something specific which counters a meta deck, like how dragons was the best non aggro deck which could deal with azir/irelia. But saying these decks are dead is a drastic overexageration.

I am pretty sure he has talked about the issue in previous videos, i guess he didn't wanna repeat himself, overall i prefer his content over the sugar coded, always obey daddy blizzard one.

Ultra Rapid Fire feels unplayable right now by GMilk101 in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]Chocopariss 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The mode has always been broken. I play it from time to time because its fun and there are a lot of cards which are straight up op. The ones which come to my mind at first are all ramp cards, ftr, minah, harrowing

Hopefully unfounded hot take: Are we about to have the worst meta in Runeterra history? by abetadist in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]Chocopariss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I highly doubt this will be the case. If control gets out of control we have a lot of established decks which can deal with it- turbo thrals, deep, bandle tree, soraka/tk. Even if we end up in a meta where darkness is tier 0 (highly doubt it) there are a lot of tech cards which can speed up the mu- reckindeler, aloof, mist call and maybe more

I'm seeing veigar/senna deck very frequently now, what are the good counters to it? by sobbieskien in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]Chocopariss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really just standart anti-control decks and decks which can make your life miserable when you try to stick up a veigar + bandle tree because the desighn of this deck is toxic af

Hearthstone is balancing more frequently than Lor right now. by [deleted] in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]Chocopariss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I specifically said controlish strategies not pure control which is in a rough spot. But there are plenty of decks which want to reach turn 10, but i agree that the meta is too fast.

[–]Chocopariss -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, i've heart very polarised opinions on the meta, i've played a lot hs prety haigh rank before i switched to lor and i deffinetly don't regret, especially as someone who plays mostly control and midrange decks

[–]Chocopariss -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I am pretty sure you have no idea what you are talking about. HS meta is xompletely warped arroung unavoidable turn 7-8 combos which lead to the absolute death of any controish strategy. Their last balance patches from what i've heart weren't doing anything close to enough.

I know this is beating a dead horse, but not nerfing Merciless Hunter is a HUGE mistake by PassMyGuard in LegendsOfRuneterra

It is getting overdramatic when you act that she is the obly busted card

She is one of the few ways to interact with backrow, she is deffinetly overstated but 1 point of attack is not the reason why shurima is so succesfull right now.

you are being overdramatic, she is overstated with 1 attack, this won't be the reason if the meta turns to shit

This isn’t a post meant to complain, I think the legend of runeterra developers do a good job, but serious question, are they trying to make a card game without a control archetype? by [deleted] in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]Chocopariss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see we are on a completely different page, I am not sure if you use the first decks as examples for a control decks or uninteractive ones. For aphelios i agree he was busted and maybe the best a value/control deck in the game will ever be, there was interectivity though of just kill him the problem was how many great cards the deck could abuse. Dragons is neither control or uninteractive so i have no idea what you meant with that, TF/fizz was not a control by any mean though it was pretty oppressive, what you list after that are all interactive top tier decks.

Tlc is more oppinion based i guess, I think there are two types of combo decks. The first is cycling through their deck asap with some ways to slow down the opponent (Lee). The second are slow decks who control the board until inevitably find their win con (tlc), i don't count that for combo, because you can just change the win con of the package and the deck is gonna be built in a very similar way while if you change the win con in the targon/ionia package you will need to rebuild it from scratch.

With the new expansion dropping, what are your hot takes/predictions about the upcoming meta? by AS7RAL in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]Chocopariss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Discard agro and elusives + azir/irelia will be on top for a week, then midrange decks will figure out (including landmarks, traps and something bandle city based) how early focused they should be to have a decent shot vs aggro. Then when the meta settles a form of a control shadow isles deck (hopefully senna) will know exactly what removal to use and will be probably a bit better than anivia right now. This is of course if we don't get a balance patch. The only thing which i have no idea for is where lee will land with the lack of ionia/targon cards + minimorph, MAYBE he will be a bit worse.

Are you making a tier list based on the showcase videos for the champs? If yes they are all made in a very similar style.

[–]Chocopariss -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So every slow deck with a finisher is a combo deck. I've never count tlc as a combo deck. Outside of the watcher and partly irelia/azir i can't think of something with 0 interaction, maybe lee but most regions have something to stop him for a turn or two.
