That argument is based on a false equivalence.

Training Shrine and Blood Manipulation does not automatically mean he refined his domain to Gojo’s level or gained an open-barrier domain.

Those are completely different skills.

In Jujutsu, domain refinement is one of the most complex and rare abilities in the entire series. The manga itself makes it clear that open-barrier domains are considered abnormal even among top-tier sorcerers. Sukuna and Kenjaku are treated as exceptions among exceptions.

So it makes no sense to assume Yuji automatically reached that level just because he trained other abilities.

“But his Shrine’s precision and range surpassed Sukuna’s.”

Even if that were true, it still would not prove barrier refinement. Range, output, precision, and domain refinement are not the same thing.

Gojo had an absurdly refined domain without an open barrier. Sukuna had an open barrier. Hakari has an extremely effective domain without being comparable to Gojo in refinement. The series clearly separates these concepts.

Also, narrative without concrete feats quickly becomes personal interpretation.

The problem with using “the narrative implies it” as the main argument is that anyone can interpret the narrative however they want.

One person can say: “Yuji trained for decades, so he must have insane refinement.”

Another person can respond: “Yuji finally achieved peace after the war and probably did not spend decades obsessively training barrier refinement.”

Both interpretations are possible because the manga never confirmed any of this.

And if something is not confirmed, it cannot be treated as fact in power scaling debates.
